Summary

It’s the year 2100. Our home just celebrated 15 years of safety, living in this huge underground bunker. I have no idea what it was like from the before. That’s what we refer to as the time before we had to live here. Not a lot of people are sure what actually happened. I have spent my entire life here. I know everyone of course. There are rules… lots of rules. Punishments are harsh. For instance every couple is only allowed to have two children. If there is more because of a twin pregnancy then i’d there is a couple that wants to adopt that child is given to them but then they can only have one more child thankfully i have never witnessed an abortion yet as it seems whatever happened in the before affected fertility or the desire to have children. we can’t over populate and run out of resources before it’s safe to rerun to the outside. My brother was the first baby born here in the bunker but out of 75 families only a handful have been able to have kids. the goal is to survive. But are we really? what’s it worth to be alive without actually living? I want to do have have done all the things my parents have done when they talk about the before. I want to meet someone and fall in love too. I’d love to visit the ocean again and just be free. I feel trapped here. my younger brother is lucky he doesn’t remember the before like i do. ..because in the before we were free.
