Chapter 1
A New Member
It was early morning when i was awakened by a soft knocking at my door.
"It's me, are you awake, Lizzie?" it was Chris voice.
"Well, just now" I said with a sleepy voice then Chris came in.
"Come on, today is your first day, you need to get up now, or do you want to be late on your first day?" he said in a friendly and calm voice.
"Okay, okay, I'm coming. I'm just going to take a quick shower."
"Good, while you're taking a shower, I'll get breakfast prepared." Chris was smiling at me.
"Oh, thank you, I will hurry!" While I was taking a shower, there were so many things going through my mind. How will my first day as a member The Alpha Team of the B.S.A.A. go? What will be my first mission? Will I screw up everything?
"Lizzie, don't stress yourself. You made it this far on your own! Have a little faith in yourself!" Chris saying this last night. I'm still really nervous, even with Chris as my captain. Today I will meet the other Alpha Team members for the first time. What will they think of me?
"Lizzie, breakfast is ready!" Chris was calling from the kitchen.
"I'm almost done!" I answered while I was drying my hair. After I dried my hair and put my clothes, I went down to the kitchen. Chris made my favourite breakfast, Pancakes with maple syrup. Man, he knows how to cheer me up a bit. Claire was also already sitting at the table eating her portion. Yeah, I'm living with the Redfield's. And why am I living with them? Back to the Raccoon City incident, I've lost all my whole family and friends. I was all alone, a 9 year old girl. Leon and Claire saved my life then. We've became friends. Chris and Claire offered that I can live with them since I had no place to go. After I was saved and had a new home, I had so much hate with all those bio terroristic stuff. My wish was to join Chris in his mission with fighting it. He was training me since I was 16 years old. He refused to train me earlier. At least he wanted me to grow up like a normal child for a while. I finished my breakfast and was washing up the dishes. Then, Chris and I were heading out to the HQ for the mission briefing. As we arrived there, all the other Alpha team members were waiting in front of the mission briefing hall. Chris took the occasion to introduce me to the other members.
"Men, this is Lizzie Smith. From today on she is a member of our Alpha Team. Be nice to her!" I looked at Chris and I got a little flushed. The men saluted and started to introduce themselves.
"Hello, my name is Finn Macaulay. It's very nice to meet you!"
"Hi, I'm Andy."
"And I'm Ben."
"..." The last one was silent. He was looking at me and his arms were crossed.
"And this grumpy guy over there is Piers Nivans. Don't take it personal, he is always like this. Actually his is a nice guy." Chris explained. Well, I think can ignore this for now. The others seem to be friendly. Mission briefing s over, the flight goes tomorrow at 7a.m to Alaska, and so we have the rest of the day off. This isn't going to be a big mission, since the team does have 2 rookies in their round, Finn and Me. The men decided to go to a bar.
"Come with us, and then you can get to know us a bit better for the future missions?" And was asking me.
"Sure, why not!" I agreed and we all went to the next bar. Since we will be on a mission tomorrow, we're only allowed to drink non-alcoholic drinks. We ordered a meal and something to drink. The mood was beginning to be a bit reluctant, as the men were also a little but shy going out with a woman in their round. They were careful with conversation topics, because of me, so they won't scare or disgust me. But after a little while, we started to talk about everything and were about to get to know each other better, especially for me it's a good thing. Sure, I know Chris best from all here, though I'm living with him under the same roof since years ago. Even Piers was a bit more active, although he was always staring at me when I wasn't looking. We all talked about our interest, future, and a little bit about our pasts and were laughing. It was quite funny to hang out with them. Outside it began to get dark, so we had to go to our hotel rooms to get some sleep. Because we were 6 people, we were put into 3 double rooms. Everyone was sharing a room with another one. We were put together randomly by our Captain Redfield. Himself with Andy, Finn with Ben, and then there is Piers, I'm going to share a room with this strange guy.
"I thought because you were both snipers, maybe you can learn something from Piers, Lizzie. I hope its ok with you?" Chris was asking me.
"Sure, no problem." I grinned at Chris. The men are all already in their rooms, I was the last one. I gently knocked on the door of my room, in the knowledge that Piers is already in the room.
"Come in!" says Piers. I was entering the room. Piers was packing his suitcase for the mission tomorrow.
"So, I'm sharing a room with you?"
"Yeah, seems so." I answered.
"Well, guess I should also pack my things for tomorrow?" I suggested
"Yeah, you really should. We also should go to bed early. We'll have long day tomorrow." Piers was saying.
"Sure, it won't take much time." So, I finally packed and I'm ready for tomorrow. Piers was still on it.
"Damn your fast, thought that you're a woman!" Piers was a little impressed that I was finished before him.
"Well, you got beaten by a girl then!"
"Uhm... But please tell no one..." he said with a smile, I could see Piers was a little blushed.
"Sure, I won't tell anyone" I agreed while I was smiling back.
"So, while you're still packing, I'm going to take a quick shower! I don't know when I will be able to take a shower again"
"Go ahead, I think I will take me a little more time.
" Piers was just remembered that he forgot something, but don't know what? I was taking my towel and shower stuff and went to the bedroom. Suddenly I was in thoughts. Piers can be kind of cute, how he was blushed, like before. But no! He is your team mate, there's no room for romance, don't fall in love with anyone of those guys! I was under the shower, washed my hair and body. As I was done with showering, I covered my body in the blue towel. Damn, this just happening!? I'm an idiot, I forgot my fresh clothes on my bed. Now I have to get them, on my bed, right next to Piers in a towel?? Oh well... I should show some courage, I mean, I'm a woman? He surely has seen a lot of woman. I'm not different. I should show some more self-confidence! I was about to open the door, as Piers was standing in front of the door, with a gesture as if he wanted to knock.
"Uhm..." he was totally frozen, then turned his head to the side and held my clothes against me.
"I guess you forgot your clothes on your bed, just wanted to bring them by." An awkward silence was falling. Both of us started to get red.
"Yeah, thank you.... For bringing them" my heart began to race. I took my clothes and disappeared in the bathroom again. God that was awkward! Quickly I put on my clothes and went back to my bed. Piers has also finally finished packing his suitcase for tomorrow. While I was putting all my shower stuff away, Piers began to take off his shirt and get ready for sleep. I started to stare at him, I mean... C'mon, look at his body, all those defined muscles, but they're a little bit too much for my taste. Piers still looks like a normal guy, he just have some more muscles than others. And those abs, I would die for touching them just one time. No, cut it out girl! I bet I wouldn't even fit his taste of girls. Piers started a small talk.
"So, I heard you are a sniper, too?""Yeah, just like you. I heard Chris saying once that I'm almost as good as Piers Nivans."
"So, the Captain was saying that?" Piers was asking in surprise.
"Yeah, he did." Piers sat down on his bed."So, what kind of relationship do you have with the captain?" he was wondering.
"What, you mean me and Chris? Were just friends. I mean, when I lost my parents during the Raccoon City incident, he took me with him and raised me like his daughter. Why you asking?"
"Ahh, nothing, I was just wondering, because you are so familiar with Chris!" Piers flustered and threw himself with his back on his bed. He seemed to be... relieved! What does that mean? I went to sit down at the foot edge of my bed, but still in thought I didn't realize that half of my buttocks were in the air. Consequently, I lost my balance and ...BANG! There I was, I fell down with my back on the floor.
"Oh god, are you alright?" Piers jumped out of his bed and helped me get up.
"Yeah, I guess, just lost my balance." I was rubbing my aching back. Sure something like that had to happen!
"I'm always such a clumsy fellow!" "This could have happen to anyone." He tried to cheer me up.
"Guess you're right." I was rubbing my back."Does it hurt?"
should I check up if everything's alright?" Piers says worried.
"Oh, its ok, I think just need to rest."
"Okay, it was just an offer, it's up to you if you want it or not." Piers said with a smile. As I wanted to lay down on my bed, suddenly a pain goes through my back.
"Ouch! I must have fallen worse than I thought."
"Ok, I'll check it up now." Piers came over to my bed, he commanded me to lay on my stomach. I did as he wished. I turned onto my belly. Piers started to check my back with his soft hands.
"Ah, I see you've wrenched a swirl!"
"What, really?! Why does this happen to me? Tomorrow is the mission." I was in shock. How am I supposed to fight tomorrow?
"Don't worry Lizzie, I will handle this! Just stay as you are."
"Do whatever it takes to get better." I was begging. Piers came on the bed and knelt over me, massaging my back for relaxing. It felt really good, could fall asleep right away. But then he made a rough movement. A loud cracking goes through the room. I squealed because of the pain. But then the pan was gone.
"Piers, how did you..?"
"You're just like the captain. Exactly the same thing happened to him once, and I also had to put some of his swirls back in place." Suddenly I blushed.
"Well, I was raised by him. Maybe that's why. Thank you for fixing it."
"Sure, it was my pleasure. You are in Chris' and mine team now so I am responsible that you're okay. If you need anything, just say it!" he smiled at me and put on hand on my shoulder. He was looking at me with his hazel eyes. I blushed now even more. I turned my head as wanted to hide it. A softly.
"Thanks" came out of my mouth. Chris was right, Piers IS a nice person.
"But now, we should finally go to sleep! Otherwise we'll too tired for the mission." Piers returned to his bed.
"Yeah, you're right!" I pulled my bed cover and tried to get some sleep
