Marco Polo

Ella yawned as she rode the elevator to the top floor of the big glass office building. She was a 911 dispatcher. She was one worker who had night shifts. Ella put on the headphones connected to one computer and sat down on the comfy office chair, and waited for someone to call 911. When the phone rang, Ella responded with "911, what's your emergency?"

The caller responded with, "You should have guards at that building," then the phone line cut. Ella ignored what the caller had said and just continued to wait for another caller.

A few minutes later, she heard footsteps and then a chuckle.

Ella threw the headphones off of her head and hid under the desk she had just been sitting at.

Tap tap tap tap!

Ella sat up and looked over at the window on the other end of the room.

A face appeared.

Ella jumped back and put her hand over her mouth to cover her scream. Ella heard a voice say, "Marco."

Ella knew what the person was trying to do. He was trying to get her location. The same voice said, "You're supposed to say Polo, Silly!" The man said.

"Marco," The man said, getting angrier this time.

Ella started shaking.

"Marco Polo, Marco Polo, Marco..." The man got closer to Ella with each "Marco" he said.

Ella didn't hear the man anymore, so she stepped out from under the desk, and hid in one of the restroom stalls.

Ella sat on the toilet seat for 10 minutes before hearing a voice behind her say, "You should've looked under the desk beside you!" Before getting strangled to death by the same man who had called her before.
