Chapter 1
Noah
I turned the radio up for some noise as we sat in blacked out BMW. Creed leaned back in the passenger seat getting comfortable as we kept watch. Creed was our leader and a pretty big motherfucker. Though he was slightly smaller than me, he could take anyone of us out if he wanted to.
His dark shades covered his eyes and I couldn’t tell if he was sleeping or not. I leaned forward resting my arms on the steering wheel. My eyes never leaving the door to the coffee shop.
Out of the corner of my eye, Zayde sat at an outdoor restaurant drinking black coffee. His eyes glancing from his phone to the coffee shop.
Luca strode out of the alley and slipped inside the coffee shop in a hoodie, jeans, and his signature smile on his face. The creep.
We are HIVE, four berserkers of Silas, a demon from the Viking age. All the others have either killed themselves or were put down because of their madness. Silas bloodline normally did not last more than a couple years yet here we are.
It is our job to find other berserkers and bring them to the HIVE where they can learn to harness their demons.
Before HIVE, I was the star football player of my high school and a huge player. Still am. I was enjoying the good life with my foster family in the suburbs and fucking my way to graduation. That was until I got into car accident. You see, I loves cars. Especially loved to drive fast in fast cars.
I was doing stupid shit. Not that it really mattered that I was drinking and drag racing when my car flipped. My head hit the window and then pavement. I died on impact. The next thing I know, I wake up in darkness. I tried to sit up, but my head it the top of the coffin. I realized I was buried alive.
I panicked and began pounding on the lid until a dark voice in the back of my mind whispered. I slipped into something like a light sleep. Where you are still aware of everything around you but you have no control of yourself.
I laid there for what seemed like hours until I heard thumping. We heard it. The thing possessing my body kept us still and relaxed when finally the coffin lid was opened.
We looked up at three men. Creed, with his black tattoos all over his arms towering over like the devil himself. Luca, sitting outside of the whole with a demonic grin on his face. And Zayde, like a dark shadow blending in with the night. Am I in hell?
Their eyes changed to onyx and my demon seemed to recognize them as it’s equal. Creed’s demon had leaned down to me and growled ”Welcome to HIVE.”
They planned my death and triggered my transformation before I could kill. Like Creed, Zayde and Luca did. One murdered his parents, one killed his brother, and the other killed his girlfriend.
And the rest is history. These guys are my brothers. We are a unit and move like one. Each one of us is loyal and would die for each other without question.
Like clock work, there she was in a plaid brown skirt, black turtleneck, and knee high boots. She was like a sexy Velma from Scooby Doo with her dark rimmed glasses. Wonder if Zayde is getting a boner from this. He loves girls in glasses. Especially this girl.
There was something about her that drew us to her. She wasn’t a berserker. Not even remotely immortal.
I watched he walk into the coffee shop that Luca had disappeared in. Luca was good at blending in. He was a stealthy motherfucker. If we ever need to get in somewhere without being noticed, we send in Luca.
