Weird Space

Hello journal. Today is the day my research team are going to be shot up to the stars to explore the Boötes void. Rather a scary thought that we’re going to be so far from home, but just imagine what could be hiding up there. The Boötes void is 700 million light years away from Earth and 165 million light years in radius. The void is something that has stumped astrophysicist’s for centuries and now we’re finally going to find out it what it’s hiding, how exciting is that! Oh I just got the clear signal to report to the ship, Edmonds out.

Greetings journal. We have just made it into orbit and have boarded the Locus Navis, a warp drive powered craft that will get us to the Boötes void without us having to go into cryo for 700 million light years. So it should take us 1 years and 139 days in total to reach the Boötes void with the warp drive. I’ll keep you updated on our time.

Hey journal. It’s been awhile since I talked in here. It’s been 123 days so far and everything is going to plan, we have plenty of rations and sustainable food for years, we have entertained and have been doing okay, although there has been a few instances of crew mates having breakdowns because of being so far away. Cassandra our head engineer was found curled in the fetus position in the records room. We put her on watch but she’s doing better now. Im going to sign off and report back if anything else bad happens or until we finally arrive, Edmonds out.

Hello journal. Today we have finally arrived at the Boötes void, except something strange happened. When we had arrived at the edge of the void it was like a never ending expansive black wall. The ship moving forward then passed through it, almost like it was some gel or slime like material. I have a bad feeling in my gut about this, currently it’s just dark outside but we’re as well getting readings back that they’re are large gravitational bodies all around us! But we don’t see anything, just black. Edmonds signing off.

Today me an the crew awoke to the airlock alarm going off. We all ran over to the airlock and saw Cassandra in it without a spacesuit on. I yelled at her “What are you doing! Come back!”

It’s almost like she didn’t hear us. Like she was in a trance like state. She looked back at us and then something utterly unsettling happened. She smiled, she revealed a large unnaturally wide smile as she turned her head back to us and just stared, without blinking.

She then clicked the airlock button and just like that she was sucked into the void.

The airlock then closed and we all headed to the briefing room to discuss what happened. Im extremely unsettled, I need time to think.

There is something supernatural happening here. It’s abnormal and shouldn’t be happening yet the entire crew and I see it right in front of me. It’s Earth, we’re home, but how? We get a message transmission come in, it’s HQ from Earth calling us.

“Locus Navis, Locus Navis, come in!”

“Yes we’re here HQ.” I had said into the transmitter.

“Locus Navis, report back to Earth and get back down here it’s time to celebrate!”

“Celebrate what sir? Sir?”

The transmission went silent, I felt that unnerving gut feeling again. I looked at the other crew members, they all as well seemed suspicious of this. How had we returned to Earth so quickly. There was no way, we hadn’t left the void. One of the crew had raised there hands and spoke up to me.

“Captain! Who knows maybe it could be Earth, I mean it looks like Earth to me. Me and Jenkins could go down and scout it.”

I stared at the young man, his name was Felipe Palace, he was a botanist on the Locus Navis and Isiah Jenkins was a astrocartographer. I decided to let the two go down and scout and denied in my head nothing bad could happen at all. I was so very wrong. The two had boarded the scout ship with they’re supplies and as the hatch began to shut, Felipe had given me a thumbs up and a wink. We watched as the scout ship had zoomed down to the planet and as they entered Its atmosphere they relayed what they saw.

“Captain... I don’t understand.”

“What is it Palace?”

“Its Earth but, there are people but they are...”

“They are what?”

“They’re all made of some gray clay substance, they are all staring at the ship and waving, They’re bodies are morphing and trying to look more human, I think they are trying to lure us in!”

“Palace return to ship get out of there!”

The scout ship soared up above the atmosphere and was zooming away from the fake doppelgänger of our planet, but then.

The planet expanded and split in two, it formed a large mouth and opened wide and then clamped down on the scout ship. It then reverted back into looking like our small fragile blue planet.

Me and the crew stood there in shock, we needed to get out of here.

We have started the return trip home, but I’ve been studying and measuring the void from the inside. Crew coming under strange sducidal like trances, strange doppelgänger planets with gray clay like beings. I was dubbing the Boötes void a new name, “Weird Space”. Nothing here made sense at all and what terrified me was something strange I noticed, it looks like the void was, expanding. I hoped my calculations we’re wrong, I had calculated that the void was expanding 1 light year every Earth year. But this did not make sense how had we not noticed it before!? Then again nothing here made sense. Maybe I was losing my head, I need some rest.

They’ll all dead...

Everyone is dead. 25 crew entered a craft to explore a strange void in space with virtually no stars or galaxies inside it, only to discover a weird place where the laws of time and space basically took psychoactive drugs and was just laughing at me. The void was laughing at me, mocking me. It all started yesterday on the ship. we had just finished making the funeral for Palace and Jenkins when we heard something a metal clanging from the technician room, we decided all to go investigate. When we had reached the technician room we entered with flash lights because for some reason the lights were off.

Then they found it, one of the crew members found something that shouldn’t had been there, it was Cassandra. She was sitting with her legs criss crossed and she turned her head around in an unnatural way. She still had that unnaturally wide smile on her face, he pupils were gone all there was in her eyes was a black void. Her wrists we’re cut, blood all over the floor, then she spoke.

“It’s coming.”

She then toppled onto the floor, she was dead.

We all left the body there afraid to touch it, we had entered the hallway and were heading back towards the control room when it appeared.

It was about 8 ft tall, its body was like that of a persons but made of a dark black sandy mist and it had a wide hanging mouth with small otherworldly galaxy filled eyes.

It grabbed one of the crew above it’s abdomen and ripped her in half, her body fell to the floor as her skin flaked away in a flash revealing only her bones that then quickly disintegrated into ash. We all ran, everyone scrambling for survival, people fighting and tearing at each other to get a find a place to hide.

I had hidden in a vent inside me room. I listened to the screams of the other crew members for hours, there was nothing I could do.

After what seemed like forever but was just 21 hours of hiding in that vent, I had gotten out and strolled through the ship. It was a mess, panels ripped from walls, tables flung about, doors smashed open. There were no bodies, only ash. Im writing this now because I don’t think Im getting out of this “weird space” I have documented everything I have seen and researched onto this drive as well with all of my entries. I can hear it now, its screaming, looking for me. If this void is expanding you must find a way to stop it, or I fear we will all be doomed.
