Chapter one

*Athena's pov*

My alarm started ringing, I hit the snooze button quickly. I’m a senior now anyone and everyone needs to be prepared and I've also been up for the past two hours deciding what to wear but that's beside the point. I glance over at my alarm, 7:00 am. perfect.

I sighed, a few minutes later finally deciding on a pair of dark blue bellbottom jeans and a cropped tee that had a pink butterfly in the middle of it, I glanced around my room, frantically. I spotted my light grey bag on the floor, quickly grabbing it. I shoved my books and whatever else I needed for the day, deciding on a pair of vans, slipping them on.

I strolled into the bathroom, pulling the hair tie out, I started to straighten my hair when my phone started ringing, I answered the phone with my other hand, setting the phone up so it didn't fall, I went back to straightening my hair, "IT'S SENIOR YEAR, GIRL” Malia greeted me with. "Woah hi to you too" I replied before turning the PowerPoint off. "See you soon girl," she said before hanging up."Yeah bye," I chuckled before walking back into my bedroom.

I strapped the bag over my shoulder and jogged downstairs to be welcomed with complete dead silence. “Of course they're not home" I muttered. Mom and Dad are never home anymore they're always on ‘business trips' Vegas, Miami, you name it. They are there. Nate is off in Australia on a business trip as he says. He is doing something illegal, I'm calling it.

After quickly making a cup of coffee, I twisted on the cap to the cup and strolled over grabbing my keys and left the house making sure to lock the door. I hopped into my car, put my coffee in the cupholder then started the car, I pulled out of the driveway and started driving to school.

Once I finally got to school due to all the traffic there was, I did not know what was happening today. I strolled into school with a pair of arms wrapping around me instantly, making me jump, I relaxed quickly once I knew who it was "Oh hi Malia nice to see you too, how'd your summer go? good? that's good to hear" I said in a sarcastic tone.

"Yeah yeah let me guess you stayed in and read books where it's an enemies to lovers trope and didn't go out, once," she said with an 'I know I'm right' look.

"Ugh maybe" I groaned, giving in. she is always right.

"Uhm Malia." I waved my hand in front of her face a few times. She was not moving a muscle, not even a blink of an eye. I stood next to her and found my eyes hooked onto what she was staring at. My eyes fell up and down on the tall, masculine figure. Great, I thought to myself. We are now both staring and more or likely drooling over this guy like a couple of idiots.

"W-we better go get our schedules " she stuttered, making me snap out of the trance quickly.

After a good 10 minutes, we make our way to our first class, Malia is with me for my first class thank god, I don't know how I'd survive being by myself especially it being the first day of senior year. We walked into the classroom finding our seats for the year. Yeah, you guessed it, till the year, that's what our teacher, Mr Gregory was like. We both got ourselves organised and ready for the next hour of torture.

15 minutes later, I looked up from my book and that's when I notice who walked in.

"Mr Lee .now, why are we late," The teacher asked. "I needed a cigarette" He replied, shrugging his shoulders, not caring what the reaction was that he would have gotten. I think he noticed that I was staring at him cause his eyes looked straight ahead at me, He flaunted his smile off, showing his perfectly straight teeth off.

My breath hitched as he was eyeing me off as he had just claimed me. "Mr Lee!" the teacher started to get angry cause he hadn't moved. "Go find a seat please Mr Lee" The teacher rolled his eyes, going back to writing equations on the board. Sure enough, He started walking up to me, giving me a sly smirk as he passed my table to sit behind me.

I shook my head and started writing down the equations. "Do you have a pen I could borrow, sweetheart?” He asked, whispering against my neck.

I grabbed a pen out of my bag and handed it to him. I glanced over at Malia, she was staring straight at me in shock.

When the bell rang I was already on my feet darting out of the classroom, dragging Malia along with me.

"What was that about"

"That guy sat behind me the entire class and when he spoke, it was against my neck and I could feel him breathing and it was making me feel things" I breathed in and out repeatedly, trying to catch my breath

"It's okay, he probably just wants to get into your head and also there were hardly any seats left" she exclaimed, resting a hand on my shoulder. "Calm down and I’ll see you at lunch?" she smiled already knowing the answer.

"Yeah yeah, you are right, see you at lunch" I replied with than walking off to the library. I found a seat at a table that no one was at. I put my bag down and got up and walked over to the shelves, looking through the books. I noticed a figure walking on the other side of the shelf in the same direction I was. I stopped and pulled a book out of the shelf and looked at the description on the back of it, "Hi sweetheart" He said before kneeling to where the hole between the books was.

Great.

"Hi, Blondie" I replied. placing the book back where it was over his face. I chuckled to myself as I walked back over to the table, sitting down, I turned the page over and started reading the start of the book, ending up losing track of time. The bell rang. Lunchtime, finally. I grabbed my things and strolled into the cafeteria looking around for Malia and the girls. I was so excited to see the girls I hadn't seen them all summer they were too busy catching some sun in Hawaii and Greece and other places cause they were visiting their parents, all our parents work in the same job field.

Malia's parents were at home most of the time. I spotted Malia waving at me frantically, motioning me to come over. Starting to make my way over to the table, I felt a pair of eyes on me, I glanced over at the table and you guessed it, the mystery man in my Maths class, eyeing me up and down as I walked, smirking at me. I stopped for a second to look at him, his eyes stared into my soul. I couldn't look away, my name got called out, Snapping out of the trance I rushed over to the table, sitting down quickly.

“You look like you've seen a ghost," Cora says, grabbing my attention.

Cora is the definition of perfection, her Black hair that suits her so well But she will hurt anyone that messes with her family and friends. Her parents did such a good job.

"Huh what, no"

"Who is it, Athena," Cora asked getting my attention again.

"What no one I swear"

"Who is it?" all the girls said in unison.

"No one!" I yelled in frustration, trying to brush it off.

The girls still sat there and tried to guess what bothered me so bad but they gave up after their second try which I laughed at.

The rest of the day flew by with boring classes and useless lectures. Once I got home, I dropped my bag on the floor and kicked my shoes off, tying my hair up away from my face, walking into the bathroom to wash my face. I was about to have a shower but I heard my phone ding, stopping what I was doing. I walked back into my room, picking up my phone from the dresser.

Malia: party tonight, you're going, we'll pick you up in 10

I groaned loudly as I threw my phone onto the bed.

I walked over to my closet, opening it up. I decided on a short white dress that had these little cherries on it, it had a little bow white bow on the seam at the top. I got undressed and slipped the dress on. The dress hugged my body which I liked, It was like a big hug. The girls barged into my room and separated to different corners of my room. Storie looking through my make-up, Cora grabbing some hairpins then walking over to me, pulling two pieces of my hair back, pinning them back.

“Let's go, let's go" Malia hounded all of us to get moving.

After an hour we arrived at the house where the party was. I stepped out of the car, observing the area. The house was massive, with big double doors, two big white pillars were going up to the roof. Very modern. We all walked up to the front door, pushing it open. The music was loud, you couldn't hear yourself think, let alone speak. At first glance, the party looked like a typical frat party with alcohol and drugs and I only knew that by the guy that was sitting in front of me, doing drugs and every single person had a drink in their hand. Well, it was a party.

What felt like a lifetime go by which was just 15 minutes, I had lost the girls and was pushing my way through people by myself, being small was no help as well right now. I couldn't hear myself think as I walked through the crowd of people, every single person swore or yelled at me when I pushed past them.

"It smells like feet and sweat," I said scrunching my nose up at the smell, I also thought I said that in my head but I didn't I said it out loud, in front of everyone which caused everyone to stop and all eyes were on me even the music was cut off. I completely froze and apologised to everyone, freaking out, I rushed through the crowd as they got back to dancing and making out.

I let out a sigh, giving up, thinking "did they ditch-" My thoughts were cut off by a pair of large hands wrap around my waist, pulling me into a closet, it was dark, I couldn't see a thing that was until I heard the string to the light click and everything got brighter. I felt my gaze travel up the tall, masculine figure and up to his eyes.

His hands made their way up and down my body, I swallowed the lump in my throat, trying to control myself. I didn't know what to say. My eyes were locked with his and they were not moving. I think it shocked me more than worried. My face showed it, I could tell.

"What's the matter, beautiful” His words made me melt like butter in his grasp.
