Chapter 1
It was dark at night. I looked over the edge of the bridge. The water moves back and forth as it hits the edge of the bridge. I rest my arms on the railing covering the ledge. The short breeze blows in my face. It feels good. The smell of the salty air fills my nose. I now knew what had to be done. I wish It didn’t have to be this way, but unfortunately all stories must come to an end. This was the end of mine. I sigh as I start to take my leg and put it over the railing. I turn around making sure no one is around me this time to stop me. This is the way it was meant to be. Then I look back one last time and smile. I raise my arms out and let the gentle breeze slightly push me off the edge, slowly falling down to the water. Goodbye world, sorry.
The beginning
“Ahh this beach feels nice.” I say to myself. I’m sitting on the beach looking at the waves. Part of me wanted to jump in, but I knew I couldn’t. I just sat there on the beach thinking about stuff. I was just chilling when all of a sudden I hear this loud booming sound.I wake up to a jolt. I look around me realizing that sound was my alarm clock and that I was only dreaming.
“Are you serious? No, that’s not fair! Why’d it have to be a dream?” I say. I look at the clock seeing I had to go to school today. I groan getting out of the bed. I didn’t want to get up out of the bed today, or any day for that matter. My phone rang and it was my best friend. I answer it.
Me:“hello?”
Her:“Where are you?”
Me:“I’m getting ready now.”
Her:“OK well hurry up. I’m waiting on you. I don’t wanna be out here alone around jacob.”
Me:“Ok, I’m coming.” I say hanging up the phone.
I quickly get a shower and change my clothes. I brush my teeth and dry my hair. I grab my book bag and head into the kitchen where I find my dad and mom sitting in the kitchen. They smile at me as I walk in there.
“Good morning honey. How’d you sleep last night?” My mom asks me. I stick up my nose at her silently.
“It was fine. Nothing new happened.” I said fixing myself some cereal. My dad was sitting at the table reading the newspaper, and my mom was eating her breakfast. My mom looks up at me again and smiles.
“I’m glad you had a nice night. Your father wouldn’t stop talking about how penguins don’t fly. I mean come on.” She says. My dad lowers his glasses and newspaper at my mom.
“Really Caroline? So It’s all my fault now huh?” My dad says.
“I didn’t say that now come on, your putting words in my mouth now-”
“OH Then what are you saying huh? What are you saying then?”
“I’m saying that-”
“Well I’m just gonna-bye.” I say walking out the door as they were still arguing. I get on my bike an hurl to school. I see my best friend standing there waiting on me.
“What took you so long?” She says to me as I get off my bike. I lock my bike up and face toward her.
“Try, parents arguing as always.” I say. She looks at me funny.
“Again? What was it about this time?” She laughs.
“Well, apparently my dad was up all night talking about how penguins don’t fly? Like talk about weirdo’s.” I say starting a chuckle. She lowers her head.
“Your parents are really something else. I wish I had parents like yours.” She says.
“No you don’t. They are crazy.” I say to her.
“Well, I’m glad you got here when you did.” She says.
“Why?” I say.
“Maybe because I kept seeing Jacob talking to his friends looking at me. Then he came over here to me. OH my gosh, you should have come earlier.” she says.
“Really? What did he want?” I ask her.
“He wanted to see when you were gonna get here.” She says elbowing me in the arm. I raise my eyebrows up at her.
“What? Me? I don’t talk to people though, so why me?” I ask her. She shrugs her shoulders. “And he’s like super hot and like super popular so like, what would a hot dude like him want with me? I’m not even that-” She stops me in my sentence.
“Don’t you dare go there. Yes, your very pretty and you know it. Stop being mean to yourself. I hate it when you do that.” She interrupts me.
“Well Do you know what he wants from me? You have any idea?” I ask her.
“I don’t know.” She says putting her foot on the ground.
“What did you tell him?”
“I just said you would be here soon. That’s all.” She said.
“Oh alright.” I said.
“Am I able to come over this weekend?” she asks me.
“My parents might be crazy again as always, but I’ll ask them.”
“I bet they are.” She says laughing. I shake my head and we both walk inside. People start walking up to us, and everyone starts saying hello to us. So as always, I just stand there beside her.
I was friends with alot of people, but then again I’m pretty lonely. Everyone knew who I was, but I didn’t talk to people ever since the incident in the 9th grade. I don’t like to talk about it.
My best friend puts her hand on my shoulder. She waves goodbye to those other people as they walk away.
“Come on, let’s go.” She says. “I’m hungry. I need food.” She grabs my hand and takes me to the lunchroom. We walk together as she starts talking about something at her house. I start to zone out and I start thinking about random thoughts in my head.
“Are you even listening to me right now?” She asks me.
“U-uh y-yea sure I am.” I say.
“Okay, then what was the last thing I said?”
“It was...Are you even listening?” I say with a grin.
“Why Did I ever even become friends with you? No, no, how did we even become friends?” she gives me the death stare.
“I don’t know, maybe it’s because you did?” I say.
“Oh my gosh. You really are anti-social.” She says shaking her head. I stop in my tracks and look at her cocking my head sideways.
“Hold up. You’ve known me for what...since I was 3 years old, and your just now figuring that out?” I say.
“No, I’ve always known that about you. I’m just messing around with you!” She says.
“I bet they are.” She says laughing. I shake my head and we both walk inside. People start walking up to us, and everyone starts saying hello to us.
