Chapter 1

Pearl was born with a condition that was very rare. The doctors said that only 2% in the world population had her condition.

"But isnt there anything you can do about it doc?" her dad had pleaded while her mom was just clutching the baby crying hysterically.

"Sorry sir but we haven't got any diagnosis for it."

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN YOU HAVE NO DIAGNOSIS!! YOUR DOCTORS FOR GOODNESS SAKE!" he growled suddenly loosing it.

"L-larry honey. Please c-calm down.." Thea had pleaded, her eyes not leaving the baby in her hands.

The female doctor had just stood there clutching her board and pen suddenly feeling timid in front of this angry man.

"I'm s-sorry sir.. But you need to calm down. There's a baby in this room and your wife has just finished having labour."

At that, Larry slumped in one of the nearby chairs and placed his head in his hands.

"Can you give us a minute doc?" he said, still face in his hands.

"S-sure," the doctor said quickly turning on her heels and closing the door quietly behind her. Almost immediately, a sigh escaped Larry's lips.

"I'm sorry for shouting Thea...its just-"

He looked up, displaying the eye bags under his eyes and the wrinkles forming on his face. His face complexion had softened and Thea suddenly realised how worn out he looked.

"I-it's ok honey. We've got each other.."

At that, a faint smile formed on his lips as the two stared into each others eyes.

They would go through this together.

Although their daughter may not live for long, they would cherish the time they had with her for as long as they could...
