What is your opinion?

"Not the usual story for an apocalypse. Even better is the way you weaved into the story that it is unlikely that we are the only sentient species in the universe. You kept the plot fluid yet controlled which I appreciated very much. Fir the record, I only write reviews for books that surprise me. It is not often that I have been given the luxury of writing a review. Thank you for the story. "

Intelligent, realistic and suspensefull

"The story is cleverly written and misses out on huge drama scenarios. There is no vulcano outbreak, no zombi invasion, no sky dropping down on heads. That makes it often even more intense, because it is easy to imagine to wake up to a world like that. I also do like it a lot, that Dan is not doing any "Die Hard" action stuff. One feels the Author lived in those places he discribed, or at least visited there often. That is good in a way, but also bad, because people who never been there could get bored with the lengthy discriptions of certain locations, names and places. At times the story was to detailed, especially when Dan checks Life feed Cameras or when he finally goes to pick up the dogs. Or, right at the beginning when he tells all those details on his obviously useless superior at work. Other times it felt rushed, like the Sex with Laura and her being pregnant literally one line after. But i still am happy to have found this clever Sci-Fi, that doesnt fail to deliver its message without the raised finger ."

"The story is engaging from the start. Characters and events described, are believable, with the writer's mastery, of creating a sudden, shocking change in reality, credible. Good read for anyone who prefers more logical sense, than fantasy magic, in science fiction."

Enjoyed it

"I thought the plot was well thought out, and really well written. Only real difficulty was with the pacing. Parts of the story moved slowly with a lot of detail while others more integral to the plot skipped quickly through. Other than that, kudos to the author. Truly a great read."

Unique and interesting

"While I think the end seemed to be in a much faster tempo it could also be because I did not want it to end yet. I like the overall story and it's very unique plot a lot. There are though some places I had doubts about. If Mary was concerned about her plants and the weather for February was very mikd why did they not think about growing some of their food. Or where would they get cheese fir making lasagna when Laura joined them."

To be devored

"I read the book almost in one go, the plot, tension make you go through the books and the characters are credible, attaching. I particularly like to discover the Swiss community, the CERN environment. Some interesting philosophical discussion and thoughts teasing writing. A good piece of science fiction. The romance part was for me too much as it did not really bring anything to the plot. (Therefore not a full 5 stars). "

Liked it up to a point...

"So I guess the author just proved that he's a man first and foremost like most men cuz it's puzzling to me that you get through almost the entire book and there's no explicit sex scenes and then suddenly he slips one in. And I know the reasoning...because Dan is the only man or at least they think so at this point and so they're propagating the human race. And Dan feeling that he shouldn't be anyone to judge and not toss away the old norms so he readjusts his thinking we're told. Well there's a reason that monogamy is practiced almost all over the world. It's because it's very difficult to stay in love with one person and nurture them and the relationship, in addition to trying to do it in more than one love relationship. And for me I'm a one man woman. One man at a time is plenty enough. So I was not into reading this but even the idea of propagating the species aside... as for the actual explicit sex, I don't think it was necessary to go into that kind of detail. I mean this is science fiction and if I wanted to read that kind of sex I would go to the more erotic, romantic types of novels. But in any case, I read the rest, not really enjoying it much after that. I mean despite the authors attempts to make it look perfectly fine that they were readjusting their values and moral code etc. and embracing polygamy instead of staying with monogamy, I just couldn't accept or approve of that. And I realize of course having looked it up, that this book is the first book in a trilogy of this series but at this point I don't really have any desire to read the other two books. "
