Chapter 1

Start writing here“ Will it work? “

Ulfran Kinsteadt leaned back in his chair and examined the fine runic formula written out over dozens of pages strewn across his desk, arranged into a shape vaguely resembling a human form. The lines of runic characters crisscrossed the pages forming a spider’s web of formulaic runic equations.

“ Truthfully? I don’t know. Not without testing it first. I just can’t say for sure. “ He said. Baeryn Brandt leaned over the desk and traced some of the runes with his fingers. “ Careful the ink is still wet, “

“ Well even if it doesn’t work as intended, will it at least interrupt the invocation?

“ Perhaps, “ Ulfran sighed.

“ You don’t think it will work do you? “

“ I just said that. “ Ulfran said

“ Actually you said you couldn’t be sure without testing it first, but I know you well, old friend. You’re beyond skepticism. “ Ulfran stood to examine the runescript once more.

“ No spell to this degree of complexity has ever been performed, let alone without proper study, and proper trial implementation. It may stop The Emperor’s own spell, but it may also leave behind a crater where Drelka should be. “

“ Both sound quite preferable to me, “ Baeryn said

“ I wouldn’t be so delighted at that prospect. That’s just one possibility. We both know frivolity with runescript has dangerous consequences. I just hope we don’t condemn Eldra by virtue of trying to save it. “
