Chapter 1

“Run for the trees!” I said into my comms to the other three escapees. Our legs burning, our hearts beating, and we were running out of fuel. Our feet hit the grass in harmony, each of us dodging trees and sidestepping roots. Our heavy backpacks weighing us down with every step. Every tree we passed we slowed down and they gained speed.

“Climb a tree!” Kayla whispered into the comms unit. We all chose the tree closest to where we were standing and climbed so that we sat on the most sturdy and highest branch. We heard pairs of feet hit the gravel making a crunch, crunch sound, almost tormenting us to come out and fight.

“Come out, come out, wherever you are!” Charlotte’s, sly, feminine, voice called out.

“We promise you won’t be severely punished!” she yelled yet again, I reached up to my wrist where there are tons of scars. The worst part is that we all have them, but I have the most since I was there for ten years and I knew something they wanted. My heart rate sped up at that dreadful statement.

“Action swat takeover are a go!” I heard Elizabeth (Liza) whisper without making a sound. The next thing I knew I heard police sirens and a familiar voice call out something that sounded like put your weapons down.

“We’ll find you and your family too!” Charlotte yelled across the blazing sirens and she and her goons ran away back to the base.

“Liza, please tell me they’re not really police.” Bella said.

“Bella, do you not trust me?” Liza asked with disbelief in her voice.

“No, not really.” Bella replied. That earned a laugh out of Bella, Kayla and I.

“Well you should since we’ve been together for what five years?” she hmphed and turned away from us.

“Okay guys, turn your comms off. Nice job Liza, by the way how did you do that, we don’t have any tech?” I asked.

“Well, I nabbed a phone and installed basically everything a spy/assassin needs!” Liza replied happily knowing that someone acknowledged her smarts.

“Okay, so Liza find the nearest town with directions. Did you turn the tracking off on the phone?” I asked.

“Can and will do! O almost forgot!” she replied carefully opening and removing the chip from the phone with her screwdriver, then smashing it on the ground. She looked up with excitement shining from her eyes. Since Liza worked in the science and tech department she has access to basically everything since she earned their trust.

Taps and groans later.

“Okay, next stop Savannah.”

My heart stopped beating, I was going to see my family!

“Uh, What’s wrong Carmy?” Bella asked

“Nothing, hey I told you not to call me Carmy!” I replied.

"Yeah well you aren't my mom!" Bella retorted.

"Yeah well you aren't my dad!" I yelled back.

"Wait wha-"

“Okay guys, you’re going to get crinkles if you don’t stop scowling. So stop!” Kayla practically screamed. "I cannot be seen with people who have crinkles."

Kayla was the presidents daughter so she has high expectations.

“Oh our little fashion diva is growing up!” Bella cooed.

We all laughed, it was good to laugh since all that’s happened in the past few years.

“Okay, let’s get a move on.” I suggested.

It was known but never said that I was the group leader since I was the one who grouped us all together.

They all nodded their approval,

“Okay, let’s go then. Next stop Savannah!"

Hey guys this is my first story sorry if its horrible.
