Summary

With their revered and respected leader having been murdered, the Mephistopheles Clan of Vampires are about to declare war on the Nomad Clan. The Nomad Clan outnumber them three-to-one, and even though the declaration of war might bring about their extinction, the brave and loyal members of the Mephistopheles Clan never back down. The battle promises to be brutal and unyielding, and because the leader of the Nomad Clan wants Aleisha as his Queen, she may be the only member of the clan to survive the carnage. Another group of supernatural creatures hears about the upcoming battle, and the leader is caught in two minds; her group are fierce enemies of the Mephistopheles Clan, yet they also have scores to settle with the Nomad Clan. Does she sit back and wait until the clans rip each other to pieces, or does she charge in and join the slaughter? When the Mephistopheles Clan goes to war, dozens of supernatural creatures will pay the price. Some will be brutally slain, some will be kidnapped, some will be psychologically damaged, and the survivors will never forget the carnage and chaos that war harvests. The first instalment of the Academy Of The Undead series was like gleefully Tip-Toeing Through The Tulips, yet in the second instalment, THE DARKNESS begins extinguishing THE LIGHT, and all castes of supernatural creatures will find themselves fighting for survival.

Untitled chapter

Diary of Victoria Anne Stratton; August 29, 2018

It rained all night when we buried our beloved leader Athena Dubois, it never stopped. There are two days of summer left, although tonight there was an unseasonal chill in the air, and as the heavy rain tumbled down, thunder rumbled, and lightning flashes lit up the dark sky. My bones were chilled not just by the cool weather, but also by the eerie, ominous atmosphere that has gripped us all.

Our Leader’s murder has highlighted the fact that this isn’t a game, this is a battle for survival. Our clan seeks revenge through retribution, so we will declare war on our enemies, our enemies who have an army more than three times the size of ours.

Athena was laid to rest alongside the other eleven great Leaders of this clan, and as I gazed at the plots, I was struck by a frightening thought; if we go to war, will there be anybody left to bury our new Leader?

After the ceremony, we noticed activity outside our gates, and our mortality dangles by a thread, because they are gathering, our enemies, they are gathering and setting up camp outside the Academy. Makeshift shelters have been erected outside our gates, and also on the property’s northern and southern borders. They are surrounding us, and we could hear them as they busily erected the shelters that would protect them from the new day’s sun. We will wage a war against our enemies, and from the way Livinia and the Hammers were talking, I suspect that the war is only a sunset away.
