Damian had to go with Julian to an old village a few kilometres from the house where they were staying for their current assignment.
“You weren’t very nice to her, you’ll have to apologize when we get home.”
Julian was a 400-year-old vampire. His transformation had unfortunately taken place when he was only 14 years old, which had stunted his growth, giving him a youthful appearance for eternity. Pretty blonde curls framed his childlike face with porcelain white skin, his small hazel eyes, spied the slightest movement in the environment around them.
“I don’t see why I should apologize, everything I said is true, there is nothing between us” Damian grumbled.
500 years before, he was born vampire, a pureblood, therefore he was part of the vampiric nobility. His jet-black hair fell below his ears and surrounded his fine-featured face, his sculpted cheekbones, his broad jawline, all of him screamed masculinity. From the top of his 1m90 his emerald green eyes looked down on you and pierced your soul leaving you exposed to him.
Despite what he claimed, he was crazy about this woman, he had to summon up all the strength he could muster not to take full possession of her body, it was a miracle he managed to hold back for so long.
Unfortunately, she had overheard a conversation that she shouldn’t have, a huge argument had ensued between them where the vampire had made hurtful and untruthful remarks towards the young woman assuring her that there was and would never be anything between them.
It had been two months since he and Julian had been charged with the protection of the group she was part of. They were very rare individuals called the Walkya. These immortals beings had the ability to control their own blood making them exceptional warriors. For centuries they had been the worst enemies of the vampires and outstanding hunters of creatures. Then the peace was declared to stop the pointless slaughter that had gone for too long. Since, hunted down, enslaved or victims of terrible experiments, thier species had declined. The vampires had made it their mission to protect the survivors. The enemies of before were now friends and allies.
From the moment Damian laid eyes on her, his whole being wanted to make her his, he had never felt this before and didn’t know how to act around her. Just thinking about her smile or her azure gaze made his member become hard, making his trousers too tight.
He had hurt her, he knew, and the thought of it made his heart bleed.
“As long as you keep acting like this nothing will get better.” Julian looked at him with a hard look that contrasted with his young appearance.
“We’re not here to talk about this, let’s get it over with and go home.“ The vampire walked away from his colleague towards a decrepit old building.
----------
A few hours later the two vampires were on their way home. The closer they got, bigger the feeling of anxiety in Damian’s stomach grew.
“You better know what you’re going to say to her, or I don’t give a you chance against her” Julian sneered.
“Shut up.”
The tall dark-haired man had a bad feeling, everything in him begged him to hurry back, something was wrong...
As he turned onto the road leading to the large country house where he was staying, a strong smell of blood and smoke filled the air.
A sense of panic seized Damian and he began to run as fast as his vampiric powers would allow, followed closely by his friend. As they arrived, the sight ahead horrified them. The house was in flames, several horribly charred and skinned bodies strewn on the ground.
“I can’t feel a soul” Julian uttered, causing a wave of despair to sweep over his colleague.
Damian threw himself into the burning house without thinking, he had to find her, she couldn’t leave him.
“Dam! It’s too dangerous, come back, it’s too late!”
He didn’t listen to him, how could he, his mind, body and soul were screaming the name of their beloved.
As the fire grew more and more uncontrollable he came upon the vision he most feared. There before him was the burnt shell of the beautiful woman for whom he would have given up everything. The body was in such a state that the only thing that allowed the vampire to recognize her was the necklace he had given her a few days before.
As he realized the truth that stood before him Damian crumpled to the ground with a scream, his soul was torn apart, his heart shattered and nothing could have prepared him for the pain he felt. He couldn’t hear or see anything around him, he just wanted his torment to stop, he just wanted to be with her.
As he begged death to take him, he was unaware of his friend pulling him out of the burning building.
