Once upon a time there was a young lad named Jamie, he was a shy young man but had plenty of friends. The story begins when he is 16 years old. Jamie had a love of football, every day he was outside playing football with his friends at the local football pitch. He lived on the Isle of Arran on the west coast of Scotland. The football pitch was located in the small village of Blackwaterfoot a beautiful place, something out of a dream.
There was football training on Saturday mornings. This made Jamie and his friends feel alive it was great for them. The man coaching the football training was a man named Jimmy Stewart, Jamie had and still has a lot of respect for him. Jimmy was a maths teacher at the local high school (Arran High). He coached football in his spare time, a great man.
Endless days playing football in the hot summer. The boys loved it. Stopping at the local newsagents, The Harbour Shop for a ice pole at half time.
It was summer, a time for fun. Days playing what they called Hidey, in the village. But all this was about to take a turn….
