Chapter 1
I woke up in the woods, gasping, laying in a puddle of my own blood. I had a large cut in my side. I couldn't remember anything. I was lost. I was scared. I was alone. Ink-black trees lumed over me, their long, gnarled branches reaching out like bony, crooked hands. The luminous moon hung up above. Stars flooded the sky in an endless ocean of darkness. I slowly got to my feet, almost instantly falling back over in agony, letting out a pained scream. It took a couple attempts, but I finally managed to stagger to my feet. Suddenly, a branch broke somewhere behind me. And then another. And another. My heart stopped, my breathing shallowed. Whatever it was it was getting closer. It was approaching and picking up speed. I couldn't move. I couldn't even take a step. It got closer. And closer. And closer. Until I could feel its warm breath on the back of my neck. I embraced myself, ready to be eaten by an animal or creature. But then something happened, something that sent shivers down my spine. "Hello." It whispered in a cold voice, almost emotionless. I gave in to fear and excruciating pain and collapsed onto the floor. I heard footsteps circle around me until I saw a pair of black trainers standing in front of me. It ducked down, lifting my chin up to stare me dead in the eyes. It was a guy. First I saw his ink-black hair, and his kind smile. He seemed to have such a friendly face. Until I saw his eyes. His piercing blue eyes. They had a psychotic look in them, they didn't seem human. I stared into his eyes, they seemed to be soulless. He suddenly grinned, a murderous expression speading across his face. "Hey, darlin', didn't anyone ever teach you not to wander through the woods alone. Especially at night, where there is noone there to hear you scream."
