Summary

Alexander gazed at his mother in disbelief and regret. She smiled at him with the same eyes she once had and held him with the same care she never had. He was at a loss for words, but the only thing that he could mumble was, “Tell me. Tell me what happens at the end, mother. Please!” She couldn’t answer him though, for she did not know the answer either. Either way, she knew one thing: the vibrant, lively boy would not live past seventeen as he would ascend and join her in the field of silver dust and white stargazer lilies, but she couldn’t tell him that, so she kept quiet.
