Summary

The daughter of the moon goddess, Hecate de Lune, was found on the throne of the Grand Sorceress. The Grand Sorceress, who saw that as a sign from the moon goddess, made Hecate her heir and a princess and so she lived a calm, if not oftentimes busy, life. That all changed on the night before her sister's coming-of-age ceremony. On that fateful day, she met Asterias and from the moment she met him, she couldn't get him out of her head. She was never one to believe in love at first sight and didn't have time for romantic nonsense but with Asterias, she felt a pull that she simply didn't want to resist. Asterias Night is the prince of the vampires and everyone knows what a calculating and distant personality he has. He never had an interest in any of the women he met until he saw Hecate for the first time and knew that what he had been looking for all that time was her. What will happen to the two and will they be together in the end despite the laws forbidding interracial relationships?

Prologue

Twenty-one years ago, the Moon Goddess had a lover. She had descended to earth for some time to explore it and see how much civilizations had evolved and developed. While on earth she was disguised as a beautiful woman unlike any other and thus caught the attention of a particular man. Those two fell in love after five years of chasing each other and the Moon Goddess became with child.

While the Moon Goddess was overjoyed to have a child, a daughter to be exact, her temporary body already began breaking due to the amount of divine power that was suppressed inside of it.

She knew that she would eventually have to leave earth to recuperate until she would be able to create another shell, yet she was sure that she would have a few years with her daughter after she was born

The day of their beautiful daughter’s birth was marked by two historical events and one tragedy. The first one was a sudden increase in magic in every supernatural creature capable of using it and the second one was a blinding light radiating from the spot where the baby was born. The tragic event no one except the Moon Goddess, her lover and one particular person knew about was the killing of the Moon Goddess’ vessel and her lover’s disappearance.

Their child - Hecate - was found on the throne of the Grand Sorceress in the middle of the night. She was wrapped in a beautiful white cloak with a small, delicate, moon pendant necklace around her neck.

The Grand Sorceress who, along with her people, greatly believed in the Moon Goddess, saw that as a blessing from her. She herself lost her husband and thus had no children, though she greatly wished she did. The child was then trained as her heir even after the Grand Sorceress received the gift of finding another lover and conceiving a daughter.

Hecate, who was named Arcene by Rina, grew up surrounded by the love of her adoptive family. She loved Rina and her new husband Eric as her aunt and uncle and got along well with their daughter Delphine. Even though they raised her like their daughter, she could never see them as her parents. She knew who her mother was ever since she could think.

The Moon Goddess would visit her in her dreams and spend time with her daughter Hecate in her own unique way. She taught her how to use her divine powers and magic from the moment she was old enough to understand. The other things she taught her were languages, arts and art of fighting. Hecate started opening portals to the Moon Goddess’ dimension when she was four years old and so she started seeing her and training with her in person.

All of this happened without anyone’s knowledge, so Rina never found out that her adopted daughter already had her magic when she was born. Usually, sorcerers would have their powers awakened at the age of eighteen and before that, they would be unable to use magic. Once, when Hecate was twelve years old, she was careless and let Rina see her perform magic. After that, Rina tried to teach her for a few months before she noticed that Hecate simply knew too much about magic and its control to need a teacher. She then ended up becoming a professor at the “Royal Institute of Sorcery”. At the tender age of twelve, she was the youngest professor in the history of the institute. Hecate taught offensive spell-casting, her specialty, as well as the art of potions, despite having no interest in teaching, all to please Rina.

Finally, the day before her sister’s coming-of-age ceremony, her life changed and with that change came excitement for the first time in a long time.
