The Baçkwards Ēffǝct

By Tyrøne

I have discovered one of THE greatest mistakes of mankind. A mistake that has been setting us back. Questions without answers, conquering our minds, spreading much like an incurable disease. Our curse.

In this short essay I would like to offer a cure. The only permanent cure.

But first, let us explore the issue.

Mankind has been debating their existence ever since the dawn of a conscious mind. Or have they? When was the dawn of the first conscious mind? How did that happen? And of course, why? Wrong questions, my friends. Plainly wrong.

It is of no doubt that science has been showing sensible evidence towards the dawn of existence throughout the years, but can we trust science? How can mankind trust science and archaeology when most of us don’t even understand their terms and solidifications? Wouldn’t blindly accepting what they say be the same thing we did with religion? And we all know how that turned out. But that is not even the main issue we face. The issue is: Are the scientists even certain of what they discover themselves? Can they ever be?

The answer… is no. Not just my opinion of no, the most solid no to ever exist.

I would like to prove to you our further lack of knowledge by mentioning a simple phenomenon that most have turned a blind eye to. I call it The Backwards Effect. Believing that the past happened, unlike the future that will always remain unknown.

Put this to the test, yourself. Think of your memories, pleasant or unpleasant, important or unimportant to you, it doesn’t matter. Just think of some of your memories. What if I told you that your memories have been placed in your brain and you are in fact an empty vessel much like a very sophisticated robot?

Now I am fully aware how bizarre that sounds and there is a much more reasonable scientific term for the uncertainty of memory which most people are already aware of, that being the brain’s ability to alter memories and even develop new ones, but I made you doubt your own memories, did I not?

The denial of this doubt and the delusional certainty of the past is the backwards effect.

Now of course one can trust one’s own memories to some extent, but can you trust the memories of dead people? Or the memories from before people even existed?

Complicated? Hold on to your hats fellas!

There has been endless debates on historical events since mankind has to waste their precious time somehow, but I’m here to oppose history itself.

What is history? Is it not based on simple paintings and writings of people who apparently “definitely” existed, based on “actual” events that we only call actual because we blindly trust the past even though we were never there to WITNESS those “actual” events?

Is it not that due to our inability to move back in time, the past is as much a mystery as the future since we also can’t fast forward?

Is it not that we only think we are certain of the past because there has been “evidence” that it happened and the future is uncertain because it has none?

Or is there? If I showed you what I would present as evidence from the future would you not ask me how is that possible? How do I know it’s from the future? Your evidence is “not solid”. Is yours? Is it not that these “solid evidences” of the past can be made within this generation and presented as evidence from the past? But that’s not all. Our uncertainty of the future comes from the fact that we cannot set foot onto it. Can we set foot onto the past? If I convinced you that you will die within an hour you wouldn’t accept it and uphold your death would you? You would try everything in your power to change it. Why not the past? Isn’t our fantasization of the past altered towards what we please?

What if I told you that all these tales of historical propaganda, all these seemingly old civilizations and objects from beneath and above the ground, all this “evidence” from the past has been fabricated by aliens to confuse and divide us?

Bizarre? Indeed. Untrue? How do you know? Can you not feel the doubt in your mind? You simply cannot deny with your “solid” evidence against it, because this theory disproves all the evidence and you were not there yourself to tell from memory. You are empty handed. You know that there is a chance to the accuracy of this bizarre conspiracy because a chance is still a chance no matter how small and out of grasp it seems. Denial would be foolish my friend. Much like if I told you that in the near future you would trip and fall, you would absolutely not be able to deny it because it is possible no matter how low the possibility is.

In fact trying to guess the future is much more efficient than guessing the past because towards the future the statistics matter. When there is a debate between two possibilities of high and low the 0.00000000001 percent chance is deemed officially less possible than the 1 percent chance, although still considered as it should be. And the proof of the statistics comes by simply waiting it out and witnessing what happens.

But in the bloody past(before you developed memories) the same chances are both equally possible because even if every single historian wrote of the higher chance you cannot walk back and know. Who’s to say they weren’t all paid to write history that way to manipulate the future?

Some people have been already doubtful and understand my words whilst the undoubted will blindly live their lives in disgusting certainty.

Now you might think that throughout this generation technology has provided us the ability to catch solid evidence on camera but you should know that technology has in fact, already advanced to the point that the “solid” evidence can be manipulated and altered virtually. No evidence is safe from the hands of mankind therefore the only trustworthy evidence of the past is your own memories of it and even that is only valid to some extent.

We have been trying so hard to know the essence of mankind by analyzing the past, but there are more than eight billion people in the world to be analyzed right now. Many great minds are simply wasting time by focusing on the past.

Now to approach one, or rather three of the biggest, not even mistakes honestly, but natural curiosities that have been handled with prudery thus far.

We have mistaken three questions as the most important questions of mankind, unable to realize the infinitum.

Where did we come from?(who made us, how were we made and such.)

Which I just proved we cannot know.

Why are we here?

Which I proved we cannot know due to the lack of knowledge.

Where do we go when we die?

Which is impossible to know because memories of coma and even temporary death are not valid as the body has not fully stopped working. One is simply unconscious until they either come back or die. Do you consider sleep as evidence of the afterlife? Then all cases of memories from temporary deaths and people in coma are not valid.

So I just proved we cannot know this third question either.

The three most asked questions of mankind are all without answers and completely idiotic.

So what do we do? Why shouldn’t we fall under false beliefs and delusion? What is the cure? Can one live without belief?

YES DAMN IT! YES!

The only permanent cure to this phenomenon is NOT to make up your own false answers, and it is NOT ignoring such questions like a fool, but it is simply acknowledging these questions and your inability to answer them(you can keep your guesses but do not fall under enslavement to them and never forget that you CANNOT BE CERTAIN), then moving on to simple questions with finite answers and enjoying your life however you can.

It is truly that simple. That is how one can avoid delusion and or madness from the infinitum, living a healthy life, with a healthy stable mind. As stable as it can be anyways.

Do not mistake my words, I do not speak of ignorance. If you have a passion for understanding the world around you, through science or gathering evidence on the ancients, go for it. Only keep in mind that certainty is poison and it blinds the mind. It is counterproductive. Avoid certainty at all costs. Or don’t, I’m not your father. But the consequences are your own.

It is true that I am writing these words on my iPad, on google documents, in my mother’s house, in the living room, sitting on the broken couch, while she speaks loudly with her friend about freeguy in her room as she dye’s my mother's hair.

But can YOU be sure? It is correct that my name is on this essay but how do you know that IS my name? How do you know I am the true author and even if you meet me in reality, how can you tell from meeting me?

Stay curious my friends.

Thank you for thinking.

Thank you for questioning.

Thank you for doubting.

Thank you for being.

And to those who do not, I am sorry for your loss.

Well… not really, it is your own fault after all.

And I am not one to pity.
