Chapter 1: The Seal And The Bear

As the explorer trudged the the icy landscape he looked down at the electric blue waters below him and realised how beautiful the Arctic was. All around him the sea was scattered by rogue icebergs. The wind started to pick up and shards of ice cut and slashed his face and made his eyes sting; he starts to lose track of his footsteps. Surprisingly, he persevered through the blizzard and the wind was so strong it was like he was being pushed around by invisible, icy hands.

As the blizzard died down beautiful rays of sunlight engulfed the abandoned, snowy landscape. Confused, the explorer stood up and looked around and continued on his way. As he had finally finished his snack, a small seal wriggled in front of the explorers path, out of the corner of his eye the explorer saw a polar bear.

“Goodbye little one” the explorer muttered to the seal and the seal looked up with big, brown eyes and made a purring sound, that was when the bear pounced.

It was a great, lumbering beast of a bear, it snatched the seal in its snarling fangs and as its teeth sunk into the seal a bloodcurdling scream pierced the air, the seal tried to escape, it squealed and screamed, thrashed ans squirmed trying to escape the jaws of the savage, bloodthirsty bear but the seal did not succeed. Hollow howls of Arctic wolves pierced the air, smelling the blood.
