"Ding ding!", My lil brother sang.
"Ding ding dang!", His teacher continued.
They were having their early morning home classes and those were the first words of the nursery rhymes they were reciting. I know you must have wondered why they were sounding really weird.
Now for a little bit of introduction, that kid reciting nursery rhymes, lame ones, is my only little brother, Andrew. He is just three years old and is still at the basics before entering school at five.
"Ding dong, ding dong dang! Came the doorbell of the big fat man. Who's at the door? I'm at the door at four! My name is Paul and I'm at the door at four, dong!", They concluded the ear piercing rhyme. It was the worst thing I had heard and I wonder why it existed.
So......
That was nightmarishly annoying enough so I have to leave the house.
I threw on my long coat and my hat with a knee high boot and set out of the house.
"Mom I'm going strolling!"
" Alright be back by 7!"
"Sure mum!"
The streets were calm and the leaves were pale already, it was autumn! I didn't pass by a garden or farm without being bathed with leaves. It's been a while I was outdoors. I knew they were preparing for the upcoming festival and I didn't want to get involved with all of the annoying preparations.
A little bit of introduction once more.
I'm Gizelle, British with a little Chicago and S.A background. My mum is a black American. I am 19+ and I just got into college. I love really cool and quiet places. Along the line you'll get to know me better.
Ps: I live in London.
While strolling, I decided to take a stop at the café and get a cup of coffee and pancakes or something. I sat outside the café, in their outside table of course. I was admiring the serene environment. Everywhere and everything was calm and I loved it. There weren't too many people on the streets for obvious reasons. They must be at the training ground preparing for the you know what.
A little gist about the festival won't hurt right?
The festival is just an excuse created in the past by students, during our grand parents' ages, to celebrate when not in school. They all wanted to have stories to tell when they got back to school. The festival was kept going till our time. There were horse races, pageant show(old london style), a Romeo and Juliet play. All the shops and buildings all over town were decorated and everyone dressed and talked like people in old london. Every single thing was filled with the old london groove and you can imagine why I decided to name it the old london festival. Too much details, right?
That's me when I'm not talking to people.
"Hey"
"Oh hi Anne, how are you?" I asked when I got control of my physical self.
"Gizelle, where have you been? By the way I'm fine" she said and hugged me.
"Are you supposed to be surprised by my disappearance?" I asked smiling and releasing the hug.
"I've been indoors as usual. You know that's how I am during these periods"
"Ohh yeah I forgot." She said lightly tapping her head with that cute smile.
"How's your mum?" I finally asked after I took a sip out of my coffee and ate a whole pancake.
"She's getting better. And she's home now" she said smiling a forced smile.
"Really? Let's go see her then!" I said tugging at her hand to follow behind me. I didn't even finish my breakfast, I left it there tho I had paid.
"O..okay, she finally said"
We got to Anne's house and I met with her mum, Mrs Brimstone, who had been in the hospital after her surgery. She had throat cancer. Now she's better.
"Oh my!"
"What G!"
"Oh my!!!"
"What G?" She asked getting worried.
"I'm in the Romeo and Juliet play and I have been skipping practice, I lied to get out of practice for like a week and it's ending today. See ya later!"
"Okay bye!"
"Yeah"
Anne is my childhood friend. Her mum and my dad were childhood friends too, so it's not like we had a choice and our children won't too, lol.
She was a dark looking white, I don't know where the hell her background could be traced to..so I just didn't ask. Her eyes were cute, grey cat eyes and long lashes. She had a brother I had crushed on throughout our childhood, also our playmate. He moved away some years ago and during that period........let's just keep going. I moved on and .....
Anne wasn't too beautiful but she was fine and this wasn't something I would tell her cause she had low self-esteem.
