The Prologue
Molly couldn't sleep. She could hear the cold breeze, coming through her open window. Slowly, the curtains were swaying side to side. Shivers roll down her back.
Clank! A sound. From the kitchen. Sounding like a plate falling to the ground, and smashing. With her parents being away on a business trip, and she's alone with her older sister Jessica fast asleep, She startles herself and jolts upright, leaning on the headboard of her bed for support.
What the hell was that? She thinks to herself. Deep breathes, Molly. Deep breathes. She tries to calm herself down by breathing in and out. It just can't be real. She thinks about what happened with the book a few weeks, maybe a few months back.
Creak! The stairs creak, under big and loud footsteps coming up the stairs. Her forehead starts to sweat as she leans over to the desk for a torch.
Creak! Another creak. This time being at the foot of her door. Without turning on her torch, she hides in her duvet, with a pillow covering her face. She starts to breathe deeper and faster. Please don't be real! She thinks. The doorknob starts to turn.
She tries to hold her breath, so she could not draw attention to herself. With the door now opened, she hears a light shuffling across the floor. From the door. To beside her bed. She looks to her side and screams her lungs out.
