What it’s like….

Sometimes I don’t recognize myself. I don’t comprehend the words that come out of my mouth, and I don’t understand the thoughts floating through my mind. Some don’t understand what it’s like to be stuck inside your own head. They don’t understand what’s it’s like to not only have a “bad day” but for it to control your mind, words and sometimes even your body. Hell we don’t even understand what’s happening to us when it does. All we do is put on our seatbelt and hang on for the ride. Sometimes it’s a short ride and sometimes it takes a while. It’s exhausting- physically, mentally and emotionally. Depression. It’s quite real I can assure you, and some suffer more than others. But also there are some that don’t know what that suffer even is. Who knew that sometimes little things can change the mood for the whole day. Like waking up earlier and putting on your makeup and actually putting thought into your outfit for the day, or doing your hair for once-instead of just throwing it up into a bun. Even though it’s not always that simple. The black cloud called depression does not care what you’re wearing, or what you look like for the day. It does not care that you want to be happy and have a smile on your face. It simply does not care. I wish I could explain to those few out there who have no idea what this is like. I wish there was a way to open their eyes to realize that the words “just be happy” is easier said than done.
