Chapter 001
Slowly rousing from slumber, my eyes opening to its capacity, golden hues gently seeping on the privacy of my room. Stretching my stiff limbs, a yawn erupting from me rubbing my eyes with fists. I got up and went to my bathroom, raven dark curls sticking from every direction I groaned rolling my eyes. I washed my face, gazing again at my reflection on the mirror and smiled. Today is going to be a good day.
Tying the laces of my shoes, I slung my bag on my shoulders and went downstairs. As I neared to my destination, I came across my favorite sound in the morning, the obnoxious voices filling the corners of the room wherever they are in. I went to my seat and a cup of hot chocolate is habitually put down the second I sat down.
“Good Morning Dove” a cheery and warm voice greeted behind me, I turned my head and I was met by an identical hazel brown eyes.
“Morning Ma” I greeted back smiling at her.
She smiled back at me before turning to her task again stirring another cup before walking towards her seat which is the opposite of mine. She brought down the cup and kissing the recipient of the said cup.
“Morning Pa” I greeted, he turned to me grumbling a short “morning” and quickly taking a sip from his cup. He’s a bear when he doesn’t have his cup of coffee fill during the mornings I chuckled at the thought.
“Lys? When is your dismissal today?” I heard a voice to my left, I tilted my head a bit. Before checking my schedule in my memory 4 subjects.
“Probably earlier than the usual” I answered slowly double checking if I’m right and nodded in finality.
“Can you drive me to Geo’s in the afternoon?” his deep voice not hinting even a little bit of the high pitched ones that I was used to.
“What for?” I asked.
He rolled his eyes at me explaining that they have to do a group project and the sooner they start it the sooner they’ll finish it. Not that my brother is an uptight nerd or anything he’s just lazy. He prefers it to do everything earlier so he can have more time lazing around. And he’s not bad in academics either, he’s a lazy genius but he would never admit it.
After series of nodding on my part not really minding the words that came from his mouth. I will as usual agree on anything I just like making them think I’m difficult to please. I can cackle evilly by the thought but scoffed against it.
“Come on you two! Aloy’s going to be late for school. Stop picking on your brother Lys!” My Ma interrupted. I gave her a playful glare before following my brother whom didn’t even bothered to say goodbye to them.
“See you later Ma and Pa!” I yelled while following my grumpy brother towards the garage. I saw him standing impatiently on the side of my car I rolled my eyes at him before unlocking it. I jump to the driver’s seat buckling in and turning to my brother if he did the same thing. Seeing that he did, I slowly ease out from our garage and made our way. I first went to my brother’s high school dropping him off and drove to my college.
I parked my car respectively, and walked towards my first subject building my bag straps held firmly on my shoulder when I heard a ping, informing me that I have a notification. I took my phone out of my pocket. I got a message from Hanae saying she’s waiting for me on the entrance. As I neared on the building I can make out her familiar figure, she turned her head towards my direction she waved at me and I jogged towards her.
“Hey Lys” she greeted me clinging on my arm. I smiled at her in greeting. And we both went our way towards our designated class rooms.
“You finished your papers on Professor Rivera’s class yet?” she asked me. I nodded at her, while she groaned that she’s still on it.
“You do know that it’s still due next week? How come you finished it already?” she complained pouting her lips attractively I might add. Not being biased at all because she’s my best friend or anything she’s really beautiful.
“Stop making that face you look like a duck” I complained at her. She mocked gasping glaring at me playfully.
We went back and forth with insults to each other leaving us in fits of laugh in the end. A few more stairs and I walked her in her own room habitually because her room is on the way to mine.
An architecture student and an engineering student, some subjects are significant to each other so sometimes it’s the same building so we sometimes pass by each other. It’s convenient to us, because we’re both not that social and contented with just the company of each other.
I arrived at my room, only a few are here yet. So I went to my seat and took a book to pass the time and while waiting for the professor to arrive, I glanced towards the near window, the sky is so clear, clouds sprinkled a little here and there. And the leaves from the trees gently swaying because of the wind.
It’s a beautiful day
But how come I feel that it won’t be good?
