Red string of fate

Summary

Sadame, a beautiful goddess. She was being punished for her sins and became a prisoner. She’d once been a demon, and had taken a gods lover from him. He locked her away from everything leaving only one distraction, to give everyone a fated person. And she’d be cursed in that room until she had someone. And only they’d be able to open the door to her prison. A lock of her hair, a beautiful scarlet thread, tied around your pinky finger at birth. When your fated person was born or near, your strings would connect, drawing you to each other. And she’d watch, alone in her small prison hoping she’d get her own destined one. Hoping one day she’d be loved as much as the couples she made loved one another. Hoping one day, she’d be freed.

Chapter 1

So small and thin, seems so easy to sever, but is stronger than anyone can ever imagine.A red string, tied to all living things smallest finger.Everyone has one. Animals, humans, monsters, demons, everyone and anything living has a destined person that the string is connected two. These two people both have a red string tied to each of their pinkies, tied at birth. Many think this string is given to them by the gods, whoever they worship, or just don’t believe at all. But the one who assigns these strings, to pull you to the one your destined to be with, has no string.

This lonely being, is destined to be all alone. Forever, destined to give others the happiness of finding their destined person. To make the string strong enough to never break, it can be knotted, tangled, stretched, but never broken.

But will never have a person for herself.

Her beautiful scarlet hair, the same color as the string, pools around her like blood. She stares at the ceiling of her prison. The door can’t be opened by anyone other than her destined one. Hundreds? Thousands? Maybe even millions. She’d been locked inside for so long, she’d lost count of the years. This prison was meant to be a hell to her. No food, no water, only her job as a celestial goddess to give everyone their destined person. That was all she had. Most would go mad, but she had pleasure in watching people finding the one they would be with forever.

Smiling, she closed her eyes, using her mind’s eye to watch a particular couple. A human and an angel. Blasphemous towards that angles god, but still he ended up with his human. Giving up everything, even his wings. The red string tied around both of their fingers, showing they were fated to be together. The string she’d put there.

Leaving that couple to their happiness she decided to look at others, trying to find someone who needed their fated one. Soon enough she saw someone, a human. Looking closer she saw he had no string at all, she wrinkled her nose in confusion. No one didn’t have a string, she gives everyone a string at birth and when they’re near the one they where meant to be with the string would come together. She looked closer, looking for any sign of the red string, but found nothing.

Astral projection was the only way she could put the string to his finger. But she needed to wait till he was alone, preferably asleep so she wouldn’t have to use up more energy than needed.

He breathed slowly, his chest rising and lowering. I moved close to his sleeping body and reached for his hand. A warm, red glow flowed from me as I wrapped a piece of my hair around his finger. I watched as it glowed, connecting itself to him, “Beautiful.” I whispered to myself, though I’d seen it so many times it always made me stare. But when I spoke this time the man sat up quickly and stared at me. My eyes widened in shock, when his eyes met mine I felt paralyzed. “Sadame.” Fate, my name rolled of his lips easily and beautifully. When he spoke it seemed to break the spell put onto me. I gasped quickly going back to my own body. To think I’d been stupid enough to be seen. I rubbed my face, he must know my legend to know my name. I’d only let myself be seen once, by a writer, and he’d written my story. I’d become a beautiful Japanese legend.

I laughed to myself, I’d been so devastated that I couldn’t make that man mine. I looked down at my hand, feeling something rub against me. A string.

My eyes widened in shock, I had a destined one, I’d be able to leave this prison, and I’d finally know true happiness. My eyes filled with tears, tears of happiness. Was it that man? Was that why he had no string, because he was meant to be mine? Had I finally earned forgiveness?

Ku_Rolet: The novel was good, and I really enjoyed reading it. I love the leads and their bond, but I have one question that confused me.
