The Cow Shed
The sky was dark. Too dark. It was almost a black colour, that would always hide under the rainbow after a town's flood. The black you see come out of a car, and makes you cough and sneeze. The black that you see in horror movies, that whistles the night away. Or the black that's says 'something bad is going to happen', that's the black, you don't want.
The Sun was long gone on the Valley of Shmeers. So the stars lit the night up, as there was no moon in sight. The grass fields sat quietly, waiting for the rain, while the old shack house, shivered in pain. The wind swirled around and around, making the air cold, the trees whispered in the wind. It spirtered and spattered, until...
Bam! The door to the shack slung right open. A black figure was standing in the doorway. When the figure took a few steps forward, it revealed a teenager, wearing a blue raincoat and yellow boots. Rain trickled down his raincoat. The smell of smoke tickled his nose. He was, Daniel Canley.
He held a red bucket on one hand, and a carton of milk in the other. Next to him, another teenager stood, she wore a silver raincoat and aqua boots. "Addie, are you going west, or am I?" Daniel asked impatiently. "I'll go North," Addie Canley replied, flicking her long brown hair in his gloomy eyes. She skipped off in the straight direction, as Daniel turned left. "What a sister," Daniel muttered to himself, kicking a stone infront of him, "Can't I have some respect? Oh wait no, 'cause I'm Daniel, and I'm an idiot. Oooooooh." Daniel was quite slow walking although, mud stuck to his boots as the spitting and spattering turned to heavy tears of rain. Daniel continued to kick the stone, it was smooth and had small carvings on it, that Daniel didn't notice. Finally, Daniel came upon the cow shed, taking much more time than he needed to. "Ok, come on Diasy, come on Shaun," Daniel called to the cows, opening the gate. Diasy mooed at him and continued on, but Shaun didn't budge. "Don't make me come over there Shaun!" Daniel yelled, pulling up his sleeves. He marched right over to Shaun, and started to pull at the rope around his neck. "Come on Shauny boy," Daniel cried, almost falling to the ground as he pulled him, "Just a few more..." "Shaun's a girl," a voice said, that appeared to be Addie. "Oh Addie, what a great surprise," Daniel said sarcastically, clapping his hands together. "He's just scared and alone," she said giving Shaun some baby talk. "I thought you said Shaun was a girl?" "I get mixed up, okay," she quickly replied. "Geez, ok, your highness," Daniel whispered, but Addie had sharp ears, she almost would've ran over to him and torn his ears off, but she didn't have the time for him, only for Shaun.
"Look, let's just hurry up, and do your job!" Addie yelled angrily, pulled Shaun, "You take Diasy!" Daniel hesitated, but knew there was no real point, as he was going to have to leave anyway. Then, a blue and purple light, fluttered in the red darkness. Daniel quickly turned around, he saw it, a type of portal, glisening and glowing at him. He slowly edged closer towards it, until it was revealing his own reflection. "An unknown portal," he mumbled, as his hand slowly fell into it, then he felt the realisation of it, and quickly pulled his hand out. His head felt dizzy, the eyesight became blurry, as he fell to the ground.
