DISH THE DIRT

Jason Moore: Open to the End has ‘mega-hit’ written all over it

Actor Jason Moore, whose movie, Open to the End, premieres tonight gets candid with Dish the Dirt

By CARLA ADAMS

20th August, 2021

Friday morning found Jason Moore, fresh out of the gym looking like million bucks as he flashed a grin in greeting. The actor was in a rush, heading to the shoot of his latest untitled movie and had decided the interview could be done as we travelled to the shoot location in his gorgeous Porsche. Here’s Jason Moore candid on Dish the Dirt.

Open to the End is releasing today. Are you excited for it?

Sure am. This is without doubt going to be that film which would be bagging big wins at all the award functions of the year.

You sound awfully confident. What makes you so sure?

Well, it has me (chuckles merrily). And Robert Elgort who is nothing short of a maestro is directing it. Open to the End has ‘mega-hit’ written all over it.

And Amber Reed?

Amber’s definitely the prettiest co-star I’ve ever worked with. Unlike her previous films, she’s not going to be there just to up the glamour quotient of the movie. She’s got some serious acting going on in this one. (ouch, harsh, which reminds us….)

Jason, there are always media articles about how you are often quote-unquote patronizing and belittling towards your co-stars or crew. What do you have to say about that?

Well, I’m a guy who calls a spade a spade. And if people have problem with that, they can come up to me and talk about it. Not to the papers.

Are you talking about Angela Davidson? (the director of Jason’s previous outing Thieves of the Night who had openly discussed how working with Jason had been a nightmare, several times)

(Shrugs noncommittally)

So, you don’t think Amber would mind?

Amber’s a friend. I’ve known these guys for a long, long time.

Speaking of that, there’s a lot of criticism about how you and your ‘friends’ are dominating and monopolizing showbiz. What’s your take on that? (For anybody who’s been living under the rock, there was a recent flood of articles followed by the explosive piece titled ‘Rich and Entitled: A clever strategy to monopolize’ in the Daily News, condemning how a pack of young actors, being, Jason Moore, Olivia Davis, Amber Reed, Andrew Collins, Ethan Myers and Steve Martinez have been dominating the film-making scene in the recent years. These young actors are all handled by the same PR company, Ethos, and are often found featuring in films together. These young actors, all under the age of 25, already have massive following, fat pay-checks and ambitious projects to their names. While the actors and their PR company claim that they don’t necessarily strategize to star together in films (which are all sure to be big-budgeted and award winning), the Daily News article claims that it is a ‘clever ruse to monopolize the market to ensure no new-comer can come through this thick web of entitlement’. The article also talks about how Ethos is banking upon the mere fact that the audience will always find a group of young, attractive actors appealing.)

The Daily News article? It’s a bunch of bullshit. We are all friends and we all bond really well. There are all these connections that go way back. It’s just that we are all handled by the same PR company that’s making these lazy news article writers lump us all together and make us seem like a formidable group or something.

So, there’s no truth whatsoever to it?

No way. I think the audience is very accepting of everybody who’s talented and hard-working. And if the audience are watching us or the filmmakers are making films with us, it truly must mean that they regard us as bankable actors. Tomorrow a new chap comes who’s managed to win the audience’s heart, the filmmakers would be flocking to make films with him.

With that, the actor bade us goodbye, as he stepped out of the car to rush off into his vanity at the shoot location. Here’s wishing Jason Moore (and the rest of the bunch) all the best for their future ventures!
