One: Accidents
Accidental death. It’s something that can happen when you least expect it. It can be on a bright sunny day as well as a mournful night. It may happen to you, or even someone close to you. Death. You can’t take it lightly.
But in rare cases, death can be considered a gift. Like the safety net for your fall, telling you to get up and try again. A second chance. It’s rare, so you should make the best out of it.
" Today, here in Los Angeles, we present to you, The World's most loved Korean boy-band here to sing us, “City Boys” by the one and only B...T...S!”
Cheers spread like wildfire, brightening up the energy in the gigantic auditorium.
" Geeeez, my ears.” I yelped, as I lowered the T.V.s’ volume. Oh how badly I wished that I could be there.
I closed my eyes, breathing in, as I tired to put myself in the audience. I envisioned hearing the crowd's screams from around me, bright light's pointed to the stage where five godly figures would soon appear.
I opened my eyes again, breathing out as I pulled my knees up to my chest rocking back and forth, anxiously waiting for my favorite people in the whole world to show up.
The roars of the crowd grew louder as 7 shadows appeared on the stage from underneath the ground. I began tapping my feet, left, right, left, right as the music started.
Eeeeeeeezz! It’s coming! I fangirled, standing up getting ready to dance to my favorite song. I may not have been good at dancing, but something wanted me to still learn the steps to all their songs. Almost like a small voice inside my heart, telling me that it was the right thing to do.
I felt myself smile, as I swayed my hips, snapping my hands while my feet still tapping to the beat. Almost there….I opened my mouth to sing while I danced, but my stomach decided to have an opinion of its own.
GGWORRELL! My stomach snarled, like an angry lion.. I stared down at my stomach as I sighed. Well, I did forget to eat breakfast, and I probably missed lunch as well…But then I’m going to miss the show~... I groaned, trying to figure out what I should do. Suddenly, a light bulb shined brighter than ever above my head as I rushed to grab my things so I wouldn’t miss out on the live stream.
I glanced outside to check the weather, and “lucky me”, it was snowing. I sighed, quickly slipping on a hoodie as I draped on a fluffy scarf around my neck to keep myself warm. I lunged for the countertop to grab my purse which had all my necessities in it for emergencies just like this one.
I took out my phone from my purse and quickly searched up the current video that was streaming live of the k-pop group. After a hundred years of scrolling, my eyes lit up as I found the video I was looking for. YES! I cheered, hitting play while plugging in my earbuds. BTS, Here I come!
Slipping one earbud into an ear and the same for the other, I locked the door shut with my right hand while holding my phone in my left.
I danced down the hallway humming to the tune of the song. I saw one of my neighbors glance at me and I immediately stopped my whacky Zumba dance. This usually would not phase me, but a certain one of my tragic memories taught me that being the center of attention, never ends well.
I bowed down to the neighbor across from me to show my respects as he scurried away. I watched him for a bit and when he was clearly gone, I let out my breath, letting myself relax. Phew! That was scary. The music got louder as my mind came back to reality. I sighed, as I continued to the gas station, this time, not dancing.
" EXCUSE ME! THAT WILL BE $9.99!” A voice yelled. I jumped as one of my earbuds fell out of my ear. I looked at the lady in front of me with a terrified expression. From the looks of it, she looked tired, but even then very beautiful. She had a light hint of make-up on and looked like she was probably in her 20′s. I glanced down at her to see her wearing an apron that had an old store logo on it. Huh… that sure is a weird way to dress. I looked around me to see aisles and aisles of almost anything you could think of, clothes, drinks, toys, chargers, deserts, snacks, food… Food, the thought lingered in my head.
I looked in my right hand to see that I’d grabben two bags of chips, both, surprisingly, my favorite. I stared at my hands in confusion. Huh?..... Oh, wait…OH! I frantically grabbed my debit card out of my purse and swiped the card as I saw the price light up from the machine ” Sorry about that my mind was wandering somewhere else…” I chuckled nervously, rubbing the back of my head, averting my eyes from her.
Grinning, she whispered ” Don’t worry, BTS is an excuse for anything,” as she gave me a light wink. I stood with my mouth open like an idiot. How did she know? " I saw who you were watching on your phone from your glasses reflection if that answers your question.” She laughed as she put my chips into a plastic bag.
Woah...does she have superpowers?! I gawked, idolizing how amazing she was. I opened my mouth to ask but instead, ” Have a good rest of the night! ” she smiled as she held my bag of food out to me. I slowly took the bag from her and looked behind me to see a bunch of angry customers. I nervously smiled, as I responded with, ” You too! Bye!” hurriedly, as I ran through the sliding doors which were my exit.
She probably didn’t want me to stay there for too long, I held up the line didn't I? I thought as I slid the plastic bag handles onto my arm so I could hold my phone easier. I looked left, and right for an empty spot, where I wouldn’t bother anyone when a certain dark corner caught my eye. Hmm… Perfect. I walked over and crouched down moving around a little to get comfortable. I adjusted my earbuds and phone onto my lap so my neck wouldn’t get sore. Once that part of the operation was over, I grabbed a bag of chips from my bag and tore it open as I shoved my hand inside to grab a few, while watching my idols perform tentatively.
A couple of minutes later, a commercial advertiser came on the screen to advertise some small snack brands. The bottom of the screen had a label which I reached beside me to get a chip but when I put my hand in, it felt empty. No. It WAS empty. I felt my heart drop as I poked my eye in the bag, examining it. ” Aw come on, I finished the bag already?” I whined, keeping the earbuds still in my ear, as I laid my head down, using my knees as support.
Support, it's something that I don't have, I know what you’re going to ask, Friends right? Well, I don’t have any. My love life, I was way too busy paying bills and bills, who would even have time for love? Family you say?... I’m an only child and my mom and dad are proabaly still alive, but it doesn’t feel like they are. My mom and dad abandoned me as they had me when they were young and were too scared to reveal this to their parents. I was left with my Aunt and Uncle but they were very abusive. If I didn’t follow what they said, I’d be punished in ways that are almost unbearable. Sometimes, I’d be starved for a series of days.
Thankfully, I was able to move out since I turned 18 recently, but those memories still haunt me. Making money is tough, especially since I need to make money to live and for my college education. Suddenly, I heard some upbeat k-pop music flow into my ears, interrupting my thoughts. I looked at my phone to see that the commercials stopped as BTS resumed their performance. I smiled at them, my mood instantly getting better. Without them, would I even be alive today? I sighed, as I pushed myself back up and began to head home. I’ll save this bag for later.
It had only been a few minutes, but I still got memorized again, as I watched my idols dance. AGH! THESE PEOPLE ARE SO GOOD! IT’S LIKE THEY AREN’T EVEN HUMAN! LIKE THEY DANCE SO GRACEFULLY AND YET, ALSO DANCE LIKE SUPER HIGH TECH ROBOTS! ALL OF THEM! EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THE BTS MEMBERS IS SO COOL! I MEAN WHAT CAN THEY NOT DO?! I exclaimed in my head. ” …..” I heard, from outside my earbuds. What? I took one of my earbuds out, curious about what was going on. I looked behind me and saw a guy with a pale and frantic expression on his face.
” LOOK OUT!” He screamed, pointing at something in my direction. I turned back in front of me to see what it was as I saw 2 big yellow lights rushing at full speed towards me. Oh…. what’s that? My instincts told me that I should move but I couldn’t. It’s like I was frozen there like the ice and snow around me.
BANG! Everything around me began to get redder by the second. My hair felt very wet, and sticky. The smell just made me want to throw up, especially because it smelled like blood. Wait… blood? I blinked my eyes trying to fix my vision, but nothing happened. From what I could tell, I was on the ground, but why? I tried to get up and flinched, feeling immense pain from every part of my body. Finally, it came to me. Am I dying? Then, everything went pitch black, as I felt myself getting weaker and weaker. Almost like I was...fading awaay.
