Over the past few years we have had several deaths in the family and have not been able to inter their ashes as they requested. Covid and just life have prevented us from traveling to their final requested resting places. In the meantime I have two small dogs that are very sensitive to the spirits that linger. Nightly, Jazzy our little York is poo has issues , she sleeps on our couch in the corner that my father apparently likes to sit on his spiritual visits . Funny, his remains are buried in a family plot, so I guess it’s just checking in on me, he sits and stares at our tv. Whether on or off . Jazz refuses to sit there when he’s present ! She sits in the middle of the couch and stares up at where his face would be if he were visible,. Her expression says it all ! Panicky side eyes and jerky motions with her muzzle from me to that spot while barking or whining ! So it goes with my Dad .
The other issue is the remains of my in-laws and a family friend . My fathe-in -law is supposed to be buried at sea off Jacksonville shore .we are in ny and it’s not feasible to get there . Let alone out to his fishing boneyards 2 miles out from the St . Johns rive mouth at sea . Two remains go thee His and his friend. Finally , my mother in law will be interred in. A coloumbarium at the rear of her church. Oh.... almost forgot , my brother in law requested to have his ashes buried at his upstate hunting cabin. Too many ashes.
These remains never caused an issue till this past few months. Now my dogs bark at night, I come in to check and they are both all excited and staring straight at those containers in the corner ! This goes on night after night . Same routine . So I guess if I want some peace and quiet I’m going to have to take care of those remains .
I almost forgot! This home also came complete with the spirit of the old lady who originally lived here before me. She took a while to get used to us and liked to tease my dogs from the pantry door in the kitchen ! As a good Catholic raised , young boy , I never would have pictured myself believing and dealing with spirits haunting my home, let alone even believing they exist ., but here I am living the dream like a bad episode of ghost busters or scooby doo each night !
In summary, spirits will linger for many reasons. Those of us sensitive will feel them ourselves. But if not, and you have a pet acting strangely for no reason in a particular spot in your home ? You may have spiritual visitors whether you can sense them or not. Dogs and cats certainly can !
