The exam

I didn’t mean to kill her, she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. All I could think about was the look she gave me as she took her last breath on this cruel and empty world and as the light slowly started to fade from her eyes. A shrill cry echoes in the distance, with a gasping breath I turned around as if she would be there in the flesh, looking straight at me. I had never seen a ghost before but like they always say, there is a first time for everything.

She was a petite, dainty young girl with velvet-brown eyes that brand with warmth, like candles in the dark, but now they just looked so dull and miserable. Her pale white face glared at me making direct eye contact. Footsteps slowly creaked towards me but as I turned to look there was nobody there.

None of that matters right now, all that mattered was my maths exam but she was all I could think about. “Her voice is like the harmony of angels.” I whispered to myself as it echoed round my grade filling my brain with guilt and regret. Desperately I tried to concentrate but it was no good, my mind went completely blank and I hadn’t written down a single thing, not even my name.

Mrs bury must have noticed as she hesitantly strolled towards me, crouching down at my side asking me if I needed a minute outside and not to worry as I would have extra time to complete my exam at the end. I agreed. Mate this would help me focus and start answering some questions, I was wrong.

A bitter wind tore through the draughty corridors and rattled through the windows as I walked towards them.the corridors were quiet. The silence of something waiting in the dark, holding its breath. All my thoughts drained out of me, as the pain tore through my head and left me bent over double and writhing in agony. I curled up into a Ball and started howling like a wounded animal. The teachers started running at me from all angles as all the eyes of the students pierced through my soul.

The next thing i could remember was waking up on a cold stone table and yelling out “Where am I, who are you and what have you done with me?”

There was no response. I coughed and retched as the putrefying smell of decaying flesh wafted towards me. The silence was suddenly broken by a spine-chilling scream that echoed through the air.

An enormous giant of a man, with huge, powerful shoulders and legs like tree trunks strolled towards me. I sat there corpse-like—frozen and motionless not knowing what to do or say. His voice was thunderous and seemed to vibrate through his chest as he started to explain what was going to happen to me. “You’re life on earth as you knew it has come to an end and you have entered your second and final life and this is right where you blending for the rest of eternity”
