Chapter 1
I am Cosmo. I live in the black market. Every day I live, I fear might parish before a predator’s eyes. Although sense my job is in the club, I am not too worried about predators eating me. I used to be at Cherryton Academy, then I moved out to the Black Market.
Reallocated. Here I had liberty of doing whatever I want. And here I can, The Black Market. They don’t question your age. They let you in with ease. I didn’t have to be a predator or a herbivore. Every day after my job. I buy lottery tickets every day after the club. Hoping maybe just one day I could buy my parents a house. Maybe I buy them a house in the country. It was a dream, unfortunately, not a real deal.
My biggest friend was Louis, who came to visit me every once in a blue moon. He is my best friend outside of the black market. Everybody else is just a blur.
I am on the bench right now, thinking about my last boyfriend who just ghosted me. His name is Reid, he was a deer just like Louis. But he was slightly smaller and white. He was fun always laughing about life, lightened my world for sure. I then started drifting off.
“Hey,” an old looking gray cat said. “Hello?,” I replied. “My name’s Magoo. We were in a shack on the beach. It was the middle of the night. Could tell by the clock ticking through the thimbles. Tick. Tock. I could hear it louder, especially sense I was dreaming. All I could hear was the clock. Soon, the waves were not even audible. It went on, and on, and on, and on, and on, then I woke.
The sun was in my eyes as it rose to its peak. I lifted my body up off the bench. My eyes crested. I’m almost used to this waking up on a bench. This was my life. I did this so frequently that my back did not hurt from laying down. I was used to this life, as I hate to admit it. Then I got up, ready to go to the bank to get some cash. I was going to use a little to buy lottery tickets. They used to make myths that most of the money that people won in the Herba Bowl was used to sell animals on the black market. When I am sure some of it was, but for that to be a common thing seems unlikely. They call the bowls the Herba Bowl, and the Megavores. Herbivores, the carnivores, created one. I was also going to see If I somehow won one lottery. I know the chances were like one percent, but that was okay because a chance is still a chance.
I then walked to the bank. Before I knew it, I was there. I then went took four-thousand yen out of my bank account. Then I sprinted to the store. I looked at the cashier. She was a big old wolf. With my glasses. “What do you want?” she replies with a DMV type voice. “I want to see if I won last night’s Herba Bowl or Megavore,” I said, smiling. “What were your numbers?” she replied. “Eight, two, thirty, nine, sixteen, twenty-two, seven, twenty-one, fifty-two, sixty-four. “You actually won,” she replies, slightly smiling. I felt good that I could give that old, scary wolf a smile. “You have won. You have one four-hundred decillion yen. I was so excited. I have plans for big ones. Time to get out of this club job and do something better. Time to win back Reid with my sweet mansion. He will see. I miss him clearly. If I did not miss him, I would not want him back. This is how my story was about to take a tremendous turn.
(1 month later)
It has been a month sense I got my huge pay day. I was walking on the streets cool. Wearing my sun glasses. All the sudden I bumped into this cat. She meowed very loud. “Ow,” she said as the entire city looked at us. Everybody started walking over to see if the cat was okay. The cat then slaps one horse, trying to help her up. “I can get up by myself, thank you,” the cat says, moving her tail side to side, as she moved out of the street. “Hey, do I know you?” I said to the female cat. “Do you,” she replies. “Well, my name’s Magoo if you recognize that name,” the gray cat replies to her own comment. Magoo, I recognize that name. How weird that I met a cat I dreamed about. “Hey you and me, want to go on a friendly outing together,” I said blissfully. “Sure, how about 6:00 PM,” Magoo replies. Right now it was 3:00 PM. That was in two hours. I accepted her deal.
So, I went back to my mansion. It was a nice mansion. One that any girl or boy could dream of, it was painted with a beautiful light blue with a silver roof. I sat down on my soft comforter and just looked at the roof. There was one neighbour right next to me. It was a giraffe's, so yeah, the house was tall.
(3 hours later)
I was at the restaurant. Just waiting for Magoo. I was sitting in a booth all the sudden I see Louis walk past me. "Hey," I yelled, a little too loud. "Greetings," Louis replies with a calm tone. Right behind Louis was Magoo. "I brought a friend," Magoo says, pointing to Louis. Was she serious? I mean, I'm ecstatic that she brought him. But still. "So, how is life Cosmo," Louis says to me. "It is nice. I won the lottery, so yeah nice," I replied to Louis. "Well, remember that is not infinite, and can very well run out," Louis tapping his head to show his wisdom. Louis always impressed me. With his deer horns, and how he was such a model to society. We talked for a about two hours including the time that we got our food. I have not seen them in a while. This was nice.
