The Rise Of Unicron

Chapter 1.
Incoming warning.
The Dark mass grew closer to the dark side of the moon. The black shadow hit the barren rock and fell over a strange, alien like, twisted wreck of a ship. There seemed to be damage around its huge structure, and signs that life had been there before. The dark blanket continued, hitting the American flag and the footprints of man’s first landing, back in the month of July of 1969. If man was there now and looked up it would see the cold sharp distant rock of what was heading to the home of over 7.8 billion people. The size was staggering and had a ground speed of thousands of miles per hour. The sharp glass coal texture left the atmosphere of the moon and the beautiful glow of the Earths sun hit the dusty surface yet again making it feel like a normal day. But it was anything from.
Everyone was silent. Everyone knew what was coming. There had been many over the years, smaller, (a lot smaller) but this one was the one everyone had been preparing for. The alarm sounded, and a red light filled the whole room bouncing off the walls and onto everyone’s stern frightened faces. The President rose from his seat and in a calming, soft voice spoke the words many had been waiting to hear. “The time we have been preparing for is now. As we think of the Earth’s history over time, this is now a new chapter for our planet. Everyone who will witness this event will pass on to other generations how we came together to give hope and strength. How we all endeavoured to make what is a world changing….” He stopped and paused. Everyone in the room was looking, staring at him, hanging on to his every word, waiting for what he was about to say next. But he said nothing. A loan tear came streaming down his face as he held his hands up to his head and sobbed uncontrollably. Everyone was in shock looking at each other thinking if they should say something. But no one did. “I’m so sorry” the President whispered as he reached inside his jacket and pulled out a gun placing it to his skull and pulling the trigger. The gun shot rang loudly and the force of the bullet went straight from the pistol through his head making all his brain matter fly on half of the people standing in the room. Screams began to occur and then chaos struck. Some grabbed their phones whilst others hugged, but most just stood there in shock trying to make sense of the horror they just witnessed. The vice president kneeled and held the presidents head in his hand trying to see if there was anything he could do, anyway he could save the man he thought had everything under control. Fragments of the brain were breaking away from the skull and the main temple making a messy pile of gooey shavings on the concrete floor. “F U C K!!” Screamed the vice president who at that time knew he now was the new leader of the free world. His thoughts were all over the place with confusion and the only thing he could think of to calm the situation down was to call for the removal of everyone from the room. “Everyone please move to conference room two as quickly as you can” With that people started to exit from the scene holding each other, some still crying and sobbing into one another’s arm’s. “Call someone. Get Bill out of here and shut that alarm up.” After a few seconds the alarm seized, and the red light flashed around the room in silence as two wardens entered dressed in blue overalls carrying a body bag. They picked up the corpse of the president and carefully placed him on the trolley, quickly leaving the now empty room. When everyone had finally reached room two, the panic had not calmed down. Many just had their head in their hands as they sat at the desk, but most where still screaming and crying over what they had witnessed. I need order, S T O P!!” Everyone turned and a silence filled the room. “People, we have less than ten minutes to bring order to this room. I have one hundred and ninety-five countries looking at us, hoping we can hold our shit together and by God, I will hold this together. We cannot pause too long and look at what just happened, we don’t have the luxury of that time. What we need to do is look at what’s going to happen from this point forward. We have had this situation ready for years and I give you my word we will succeed. I will work hard with everybody’s help and we will overcome this challenging moment together”. As he was talking there was a large bang. Everyone jumped with fright only to find out the chief of staff had fallen over and hit his head on the corner of the desk knocking him out cold. It looked as though he was walking up to the new President and slipped on a piece of brain fragment that was stuck to his shoe. “Jesus Christ. can anything get worse?” the President said as all the monitors that were showing all the world’s countries went dead. The lights went out, and the red emergency light stopped flashing. “Ah Shit” came a loan voice.
The impact was what everyone had expected. The force of the giant meteor struck the western hemisphere at five fifteen pm EDT. The mass of waves didn’t take long to engulf all the borders of California, moving its way through fifty states taking with it anything that lied in its way. Asia and Australia were completely wiped out, nothing survived, and nothing was left standing. A new world had begun.
Chapter 2.
War on Cybertron.
4.7 million light years away, another battle of different but significant propulsion was happening. But this wasn’t bringing a race together, it was separating one. Planet Cybertron looked old and battered, many outer layers of the metallic planet featured great holes and torn up plates of thick sheet metal. The closer you came to its structure the more terrifyingly evil a place it seemed to be. Cities didn’t exist anymore and what once stood great towers and glass structures now stood shard rubble and ruin. Iacon the grandest and biggest city of all was ablaze, burning to the ground. Fires and explosions erupted so high that they could be seen from Cybertrons moon base one thousands of miles away. Flags which resembled a race known as Autobots flew at half-mast and surrounding them all were thousands of broken robots. But these were no ordinary robots. Each one that lied there in the pile of destruction used to have a soul, not like ours, but similar in nearly every aspect. It was known as a spark, a sentient life plucked from the well of all sparks and injected into all that came to be. Hundreds had lived happy free lives and many once had relationships, friends and family. Each one had a single spark of their own individual existence, but that was then. Now the light had gone out on the mass pile lying there in front of the red and blue flags. All was silent. No love, no future, no existence would any of these beings feel again. Studying them more carefully and looking over the wreck with detail, you could see a physical resemblance to what a human looked like. Each individual one had a face, and what appeared to be arms and legs. It was difficult to make out these features on some of them because of the mess most of half of them were in. Each face had eyes that you could tell once inhabited a life, but now they just looked as though every sparkle of being had been pulled from them. The legs and arms were bold and strong looking, huge metallic fingers were attached to a powerful hand, with some still clasping onto weapons. The legs were long and bulky looking, each with solid square flat feet that looked thick set and well-built. The complex sets of wires, mechanical chips and processers that lay inside of them were sticking out of their mouths and rusty eye sockets. Electrical pulses could be seen exploding lightly over the few who had recently fallen in battle. A blue liquid, tar like substance was covering them, running on to the floor making dirty filled toxic pools around the area of this immoral place where they lay. Many heads had been detached from the body, while some had been sliced in half revealing all the cogs and working systems of what once was a complex and sophisticated robot. It was a waste world of death and war. No hope stood on this barren planet. The air here had a smell of despair, loss and torture and the war seemed far, far from over.
Miles away and on the other side of Cybertron, flags flew high and proud. Thousands of alive robots stood beside them, each one had dark red or green eyes and a menacing look about them, grunting and talking in a foreign alien language. The flags that flew here were the purple representation of the Decepticons symbol. These evil, twisted creatures of Cybertron wanted power, and power alone. Peace by tyranny was their mission and a bleak doomed future awaited anyone who did not want to play by their rules. They outweighed the Autobot army by three to one and at this moment in the planets history it was only a matter of time until there would be no existence for those who wanted peace. Stepping back from this planet, many may believe these robots are mindless creatures with no other thoughts but to fight, but that’s where they would be wrong. Both factions are born as sentient beings and go by the name Transformers. Each one has a special ability to change its shape into another metallic substance. It can disguise itself as a vehicle or object within its own mass and weight. This technique has been with them since the beginning. No one knows exactly why they are capable of this, but as part of their existence they have flourished in the ability to be able to covert and transform for thousands of years. The scientific knowledge that each Transformer holds is astounding. It would take thousands of the greatest humans combined to store what one of these Transformers can hold in their computer processed minds. The science, welfare, resources, knowledge and enhancement they can provide is second to none. The speed of their thought process is faster than the speed of sound and nothing in comparison of what we know in the universe can compare to its mastery.
A sliding door opened, and Blackout walked into the Decepticon headquarters. A rusted metallic and iron blood tinge smell filled the room, and an odour of musty old oil and solvent made the air feel thick and abundant. “Lord Megatron, you called” The dark nightmarish robotic voice filled the chamber as Blackout kneeled; his blades portrayed on his back resembling a style of aircraft. He was dark grey with an orange rust tint and chipped paint fell over his structure. Twisted wires could be seen in his torso area and green eyes lit his face up which gave him an eerie look. He opened his mouth, and you could see his sharp pointed teeth as he spoke. “Lord Megatron you summoned me. I am here only to serve you”. “Shut up! You imbecile” came a deep growling voice. “Never speak to me unless I command.” The throne of where this deep voice was coming from slowly turned, and he faced the kneeling Blackout. Tapping his huge sharp fingers together he stared directly into the terrified face of his Decepticon solider. “Pathetic waste of parts you are. I have never seen in all my years of leadership a more useless, vulgar, vile excuse for a Decepticon. I’m tired of you and all these pointless excuses of why the war is not yet ours”. “But Lord we are winning, we are conquering. A little more time and we shall have everything you have asked for” Blackout said nervously. “You dare answer me, you speak and answer back to your Master.” His voice became louder as he extended his arm out placing his fusion cannon to the head of the trembling bot. “Please lord spare me” blackout begged. “Let me think about that” came the response as the light of the cannon grew more intense and fired taking the head of the Decepticon clean off. “Maggot” he snarled as he got up and walked to the other side of a large table. Megatron was a grand figure. No marks, scratches or blemishes. The silver shining grandness of the greatest, and only, Decepticon leader stood over double the size of most of his army. His head looked big and the shape, although it was oval, it consisted of many straight edges going up and around his head making it look square in places. His chest bared the Decepticon logo and many large buttons of vibrant red, yellow and blue sat on his upper pelvis area. But the two things that stood out on the great leader was a shiny tank arm barrel that fully extended from his shoulder to his wrist. The inside of the barrel had a crystal and diamond crust which held a rich red and dark purple finish. With what had just happened it was obvious that this was his main weapon of destruction and what most transformers feared. The other was the sharp rusted teeth that looked like they had seen more action than the rest of him. Each tooth resembled a bladed sword. The point of each gleamed under the lights that shone in the chamber. The long steel table was the only thing in the room apart from twelve mini cages strung up from the ceiling each one made of a solid metal component hanging from wires and swinging side to side steadily. The dark red lights that surrounded the room came through on to the floor hitting the roof in a spiral like configuration.
“Which one should it be today” Megatron said out loud. The smoke and air from his voice filled the cages that hung there. The joy filled his eyes as he started to undo one. “Ah you are the lucky one today, don’t worry this will only hurt for a moment. He unclipped two little wire bags with his large fingers. One had oxygen in it, and the another looked like an old style of feeding drip which was connected to the prisoner. “If only we never found your planet, then you and your other guests here would have never given me the opportunity of showing you how I spend my spare time. You really don’t think I wouldn’t take some souvenirs from my travels to remind me how much of a disgusting place your so-called earth is?” Saying this Megatron scooped up a thin naked human man, skinny and with no energy into his palm. The man was shaven all over and disorientated not knowing where he was or even if he was still alive. Megatron opened his huge mouth and tossed the skinny human in the air. The man flew up and spun around before falling at a great speed into the huge palate. As he entered, Megatron caught the naked foot between his teeth and slid the pest between his blades sliding all the skin, mussel, and organs from the bone and swallowing it down throwing the skeleton of the dead man on the floor. The only way it could be described was like sucking the meat of a chicken wing and discarding the waste to the trash. “Disgusting and unnecessary” Megatron snapped “But EVIL!!”
Meanwhile on Earth. “Well Tim, we knew it was coming and we basically got what we were expecting”. “Yeah, you’re not wrong”. The two men, one Timothy Epstein the new President of the United States, the other Ronald Steep the chief of staff, were sitting in leather chairs smoking cigars and drinking coffee. Tim had a chubby figure and most times tried to look as casual as he could. The old President always made him wear a tie when he was in his presence, but Tim hated the formality. He had short hair and a kind look about him, like he was always trying his best for the new nations. Under any circumstances he fought to listen to the people as best he could and pass on their worries and concerns. From now on though, he knew it was him who had to deal with these things. The President continued. “I just don’t understand why Bill did that. He’s been fighting for this, preparing this with all of us for months. He was the one evacuating all of America and Asia to the middle of Europe. He was the man who achieved what I don’t think I can. I just didn’t know what to say in there to all of them. The only thing I could come up with was that he was under too much pressure and emotionally sick. How the hell’s that going to hold?” “Well, he was sick”. Steep answered him “How can anyone do something like that without having some baggage or emotional discomfort? Look Tim, I loved Bill more than anyone. He was like a big brother to me, but he’s gone. We can’t stop moving forward. You know as well as I do this can’t wait, we need the next step.” “Look Ron it’s hard to just switch on like this. Bill was a good man. He taught me everything I know. I’ve stood by his side for years, always backed him”. “He always will be remembered as one, but you need to concentrate on the now. You stood by his side, and I’ll always stand by yours. Now let’s do this! Have you heard from Optimus?” Steep stopped talking as Tim got out of his chair taking a long pull on the cigar. “No... The message got sent at the time of impact, and the situation has been forwarded with the new horn placements to the Autobots, but we are still waiting for a response”. “Always waiting for them bastards. They wreck our home with their wars, use, abuse and don’t honour what they said they would do”. “Look Ron they will come, they know what’s happening here, we need them. So please don’t use what’s going on here as an excuse to pull down the only hope we have of now surviving. Optimus will respond. He always does”
Moon base one was cybertrons moon and a huddle of activity was beginning to move on the base regarding the human situation. “Why wasn’t I told about this sooner?” “We only received the message two cycles ago, we got it to you as quick as possible Optimus.” Ultra Magnus spoke in a tired but asserted way. He knew that even at the quickest time they could get the news from Earth, Optimus would always feel the need to complain on how long It took. He valued time more than anything lately. “The humans know we have our own issues and situations we need to address. Cybertron is in as much distress as Earth. ““Maybe so” Optimus said as he looked out of the window to the distance stars staring at him “But the humans didn’t bring their war to us, we took our war to them. We can never forget the commitment we have promised them, after what they sacrificed for our cause”. Magnus interrupted. “Sir please, sacrificed. We sacrificed just as much in our effort to bring them peace. While we were helping their cause Megatron brought destruction back to our home. Our home Optimus!” There was a silence that fell between them. Not an angry silence. Just a moment where all the history of everything that had happened (and was happening) circled their thoughts. Magnus deep down knew that the Earthlings had no say in what was happening to their own planet. Even the great Alpha Trion wouldn’t have known that a new chapter between the Transformers and man was unfolding. “I understand my old friend” Optimus spoke with warmth and heart. “Megatron coming back to our home while we were working on Earth’s situation surprised me as much as anyone. I never wanted to leave Earth, not with the turmoil. But I was told, and I agreed that the outcome on Earth would take much time. Time, I thought was on our side. Coming home and trying to get a hold on what Megatron was doing here has been hard and challenging, and I have failed up to yet. I didn’t have enough time to prepare for what Megatron was planning, and I have let the Autobots down. But I will succeed for the humans, and even though the Decepticons may win this war I will save Cybertron from destruction. We must all work together like never before, otherwise as you are all fully aware, it won’t be just Earth and humanity who are facing extinction.” Optimus looked tired. His mouth plate was chipped and only one of his allspark blue eyes was functioning. His huge chested windows were cracked and the mix of the red and blue paint surrounding his body looked war torn and tarnished. The Autobot logo which was placed on his right arm, was barely recognisable, and the smokestacks on his shoulders were cracked and unsteady. He sometimes couldn’t control his balance as he walked around the room and the worry of his health was constantly hitting all his comrades and friend’s. Everyone knew he had tried so hard, even if he thought that he had failed. Every Autobot had faith that he was, and still is, a great leader. One that all the past primes would be very proud of. He never spared a thought for himself. The Autobots and humans were always in his best interest, and everyone would lay down their spark for him if it meant that peace would one day return to the galaxy. Even though he physically didn’t look too strong, he still had the mentality of a leader. He had a duty to be the one that all would look up to, and his qualities were never in doubt by anyone, apart from himself.
Chapter 3.
Incoming messages.
As Prime and Magnus were finishing their conversation, the door slid open, and a small pink Transformer walked into the meeting room. “Please excuse us Ultra Magnus.” “Of course,” Magnus said swiftly saluting and turning around exiting the room. Arcee looked beautiful, her round head had two white metallic buns on the side which complemented her red robotic lips. Her chest was pink and resembled what most earthlings would consider to be fantastic assets. She was tall, slender and no other way to put it, a sight for sore eyes. “Optimus” she spoke “I have heard the news; the tides have now changed, and the final chapter has been put upon our friends on planet earth. I know you must leave; I know you have a duty, but I also have a duty to tell you that I will always love you, and I’ll be waiting for your return.” There was a strong emotional tone in her voice, wavy and broken, like she was going to cry. But knowing Optimus needed strength she held back her tears and just walked forward to hold him. “Arcee I promise, I will return. We will, bring peace back to the universe and I believe the power of the primes will be with me throughout this journey. Please try not to cry we all need hope and strength. This is our darkest hour and one that I hope will pass. I look and pray to you, please keep all here safe and guide them like you always have done when I was by your side. You are so important with Ultra Magnus to keep our friends strong while I am away and I give you my word, we shall return.” “Optimus to room one, Optimus to room one” The voice came over the monitor as prime walked to the door. As it opened, he looked back at Arcee and bowed his head as the door slowly closed behind him. Room one was a huge monitoring room and data collection centre that the Autobots used when gathering information from other galaxies including Earth’s. It had a very similar feel to the Kennedy space centre and was crowded with bots looking at chart readings and statistics. As soon as Prime entered the room everyone stopped what they were doing and turned to listen to what he was about to say. “What news do we have?” he said with urgency. Bumblebee looked at Prime and spoke. “Optimus, the News came to us two cycles ago that Earth’s rotational pull has finally made the asteroid hit, just over half of their world has been destroyed” Magnus continued. “It went as planned by the Earthlings sir, well as much as it could anyway. Over ninety-five percent of the impact zones were not occupied, and all figures and statistics are showing there have been minimal casualties” “Do we know If Megatron has received this data yet? Does he know about the impact?” “We’re not sure Optimus” Bumblebee answered. Bee was the scout of the Autobots. Not the most powerful robot but has a spark like no other bot, and a will inside him that would fight till the end. He was one of the smallest Autobots and his primary colour was Yellow. His red Autotbot logo in the middle of his chest was scarred and his head was the shape of a hexagon with round edges. He had big feet for a small Transformer and short arms for such a good fighter. He had been in many battles with Optimus on Earth over the years, especially when he used to look after Sam Whitwickey. He Missed Sam. He was a true friend who taught Bumblebee to be less robotic and gave him the key to what it felt like to be Human. ’’We have gathered everyone that you have asked for Optimus, and they are all preparing for launch as we speak”. “Thankyou Bumblebee, please assure all who are leaving that this will be a long journey, we don’t know how long our mission may last. Make sure that everyone takes extra energon supplies and to also keep their shut down time at a maximum before we leave”. “Yes sir”. “Optimus I will gather everyone for our final briefing in four cycles, we will be ready for your call”. “Thankyou Ultra Magnus” Optimus said. Ultra Magnus was a true solider. He played everything by the book and a mission couldn’t begin or finish without it being dotted and underlined. He wore the colour of sky blue and white, standing nearly as tall as Prime, he portrayed huge shoulders, and a rectangular window chest sat neatly underneath his head. He had a similar appearance to Optimus; you may have even called them brothers. But no one knew the true history of this story, and no one ever asked, sometimes you just let each bot keep their own history to themselves. Both Magnus and Bee exited the room to go and rally the troops and left Prime by himself. He looked around and sat in his chair. It was full of small monitors and a glass microscope that was hinged onto the roof in a pully system above where he was seated. when he stared through this device, he could look at the stars and keep a private eye on Cybertron in the distance. Each time he looked at his home he knew that he had lost it for the time being, maybe forever. But he would not give up on this fight for what was about to impact, what he called his second home. Earth!
Back on Cybertron thousands of Decepticons lined up in rows of fifty and a huge mass had gathered in what was once known as the pit of chaos. The Flags as always were flying high and all that were present were eagerly anticipating the arrival of their lord, Megatron. A huge fly over of some Decepticons in their Tetrajet mode (a three-winged straight nosed plane) flew overhead in a triangle formation. Sharp edged tanks with no windows and huge menacing weapons, rolled in on thick heavy treads stopping perfectly in a semi-circle in front of the crowd. Other Earth style vehicles came out next, one a motorbike resembling a mean looking Harley Davidson, and a green and white western star truck which gleamed so brightly the reflection of all could be seen on the side of the cab. But the reflection only lasted seconds, as the truck started to unfold on to itself. Individual panels and wheels slid to the back and under the front of the windows as huge arms slid out from a collection of alloy plates, and a large head came through the top with a terrifying looking face. At the same time the rest of the tanks and vehicles undertook the same transformation process, each one folding up and shifting into different looking robots. “Silence” onslaught shouted. Everyone turned around and quiet filled the pit. “All Hail Megatron” he spoke which was repeated by the crowd. Three massive screens filled the arena and a dark picture flickered to reveal Lord Megatrons glaring face. “Silence” He growled. “You are all here because you believe in the cause of the Decepticons, you believe in your leader. You all believe in me.” “Yes we do Lord” Someone shouted from the crowd which made everyone turned in formation and look at who had made the interruption. “Quiet filth “onslaught shouted as he aimed his weapon across the gathering of bots and pinpointed the troublemaker’s head. He shot a blast from his gun that went straight through the optics of the speaker collapsing him to the floor in a tangled mess. “As I was saying” Megatron continued “All of you have a place at my side when we take our war to the corners of the galaxy. The Decepticons will be known as the ultimate race, but to get there we need to stay one step ahead of our enemies. Word has come to me that the war we were heading for with earth is now upon us. Half of their planet is gone and with the arrival of my partner I must leave now with my army, handpicked by me, and me alone. We will return to Earth to bring the great Chaos leader to the Decepticon throng. I will help awaken a historical force that many until now have only called legend, but legend it is not. He will be by my side, and we will work to rule all life forever. Barricade will overlook events here on Cyberton to make sure Tyranny is still awaiting me when I return to you pitiful lot”. “Remember”, he continued “There is no power but me. All Hail Megatron. ALL HAIL MEGATRON!”
Hotrod paced back and forth in front of bumblebee and Hound uncertain of what lay ahead. His French accent sounded very strange when talking to other transformers, he just couldn’t let go of it after he had spent so much time in France with sector seven. “I’m scared, I mean who knows if we will ever return here. Who knows if it’s the last time we see our friends?” “Stop being so pessimistic!” Hound said whilst strapping another huge machine gun to his already packed body of arsenal. “Where’s your fight and drive? That’s what we’re going for buddy, to make sure we do see all our friends again”. Massive metallic grenades hung off him like keychains, and he bared a huge twisted beard, which covered most of his grey face. The rest of him had a dark green look, and he was very heavy set, if that was possible for a robot. Hotrod looked sombre. For such a young bot his attitude was different of many others that were his same age. He always looked at the war from two sides and was desperate to end conflict without getting friends and family torn apart. “I’m sorry Hound, I just can’t help it. No one has faced anything like this in their past. We are all stuck here on Base One while Megatron takes Cybertron and now were leaving to help the humans. When will it end, when will we finally get peace?” Hound Patted him on the shoulder. “Look kid, it’s not about finding peace right now. It’s about working towards a time where we all can be free and live as one. We must stick together, work as a team and be positive that what we are fighting for is just around the corner”. “I hope so” Hotrod said as he transformed into his black and orange Lamborghini and spun off after doing a burn out, leaving smoke to fill the corridor. “Kids!” Hound mumbled to himself. As Hotrod sped around the base, faster than he should have been, he thought about what he had just heard and concluded that Hound was right. It was about sticking together and putting trust in the Autobots, One Autobot especially.
A quartet of horns and trumpets sounded as all the Autobots came to see what Optimus wanted to say. The crowd that had gathered was small as most of them were still on Cybertron fighting. Optimus wanted to be on his home planet fighting too, he wanted to give his all for planet Cybertron and he knew the battle that was taking place down there would be destructive. He hated being the leader. He wanted to break himself in parts and be everywhere, the leader, the thinker, the diplomat, the fighter. But he knew in his spark he was in the right place. The plan had now been set and all he needed to do was deliver his final speech to his comrades who were going on this voyage. As he walked forward and entered the room, he passed great portraits and statues of fallen leaders, hero’s and champions of peace. He hoped that one day he would stand among them, and that people would remember him and his comrades for what they were trying to achieve. “Sir they’re ready” Ultra Magnus said taking a step back from Prime, leaving him all by himself in front of all who had gathered. “Autobots, Family and friends. I could stand here and speak to you about how we should go about winning this war. But I know, and you also do, what is needed from us at this hour. Together as a team we shall be as one, shall achieve what needs to be accomplished so we can march on to a bright future for all Cybertronians and Earthlings. I have all your data and experienced ideas to take to the leaders of Earth and show them what we have come up with. In the meantime, Ultra Magnus will overlook all the situations that will still be occurring on our planet. You must trust his judgement as I do and put your faith in a true friend who will always put his comrades and duty first. Now we must leave, say goodbye to who you must and prepare for launch. Till all are one”
The lift off from Iron Hope at hanger nine was spectacular as always. The heat which left the engines caused smoke to lift into the air, revealing a cluster of Autobots who were left behind looking up at the ship blast off at an incredible rate. Mangnus looked down at Arcee and put his arm around her shoulder. “He will come back. If anyone can lead them to victory, Its Optimus” “I hope your right. I can’t face thinking of a life without him”. “Well, if he fails its not going to be just your relationship that ends.” She looked at him painfully to acknowledge the dark message he spoke. One cycle after the great ship had departed Ultra Magnus walked with everybody else back to the base. Moon base one’s control centre was the jewel in the crown of their second home. Here they all had a feeling of what it would be like to live together on a peaceful home. Cybertron used to be like this before the war and the evil acts of the Decepticons. “If only it was this quiet on Cybertron” Magnus said. Many bots looked over and nodded in agreement, missing the times they used to drink at Maccadam’s old oil house laughing and preparing for the drag races on the velocitron track, which was a speed race to collect power keys. Megatron even used to drink there and enjoyed racing everybody before he started to fight in the pits, even though he never once won a race, he always gave a good battle on the course with the other drivers. But the thought of everyone’s memories of such wonderful times soon shifted when ultra magnus woke everybody up with reality again. “We must prepare ourselves now to carry on with our fight and join our friends in battle. We leave for Cybertron in the morning. It’s time to show the Decepticons that we want our planet back and that our home belongs to peace and friendship for all”. Just after finishing his sentence a strange gas came seeping through the electrical ports, and a huge blast suddenly ripped through the floor of the base shattering all of the control panels in the main conference room. “We’re under Attack!” Arcee screamed as each Autobot started to contact Cybertron to tell them of the situation. “Perceptor pushed the emergency button. “Iacon city do you read; we are under attack! We are under attack! Prepare for casualties, I repeat prepare for casualties”. The area of impact collapsed in onto itself and many bots fell straight through the hole trying to cling on to the sharp edges that had broken away, leaving them dangling like worms on a hook. Some tried to help by grabbing hold of their friends’ hands and arms, but some simply could not hold on and slipped, falling to their deaths, the colour of their eyes fading into a dark Smokey abyss. Fires started raging through the room and many trying to flee to the escape pods began to lose their scorched arms and legs. Others had just collapsed and were not moving, lying there on the floor melting away in the blaze. The heat and fire in the corner of the room was making it so intense their metal was becoming liquid. “Evacuate, Evacuate!” came the sound of Telatran one, the supercomputer in charge of storing the history and combat files from the past and present wars. “Acid detected; Acid detected! Evacuate, Evacuate!” Chaos spread around the room as grand portraits of fallen soldiers and Transformers lit up like burning matches losing their magnificent and awe-inspiring look. “Get To the escape pods” shouted Magnus” Go leave now, move, move!” Everybody hurried as fast as their feet could carry them, some Transforming and burning rubber to exit the inferno. This time Magnus himself called Cybertron. “Iacon city this is Moon Base one. We are under attack, evacuation in progress, I repeat this is Moon Base one we are under attack get ready to receive casualties!” As soon as he finished the green light on some pods began to flash and they began to detach from the base. He looked around at the devastation and saw many of his friends dead on the floor. Percepter ran past him trying to get into one of the last remaining pods when Magnus stopped him.” Percepter have you seen Arcee?” “No sir” he shouted above the blasts, still raging on. “I’m sorry sir, she wasn’t in any of the ejected pods”. “We can’t leave without her!” Magnus shouted “Sir we must go now before this whole moon blows” “We have to find her! Optimus would never forgive me if we just left. Help me pleas Percepter please!” The remaining walls ripped away from the complex showing the night sky and glistening stars looking so peaceful around the terror they were facing. The warning sirens had faded, and they were the last two standing. “Sir it’s over. She’s gone, we must leave. We must evacuate now”. Magnus held his head in his hands and fell to his knees as Percepter dragged him and strapped him into the pod.” Sir we need to launch now. MAGNUS!” Still dazed and confused over the carnage that had just happened, Ultra Magnus suddenly snapped back into the leader he was and launched the pod containing himself and Percepter into the night sky. As they blasted away the gases and fire on the Moon began to explode upon each other the base that many had called there second home which had stood for years became a fireball lighting up the night sky like a new sun “Thank you Percepter. I just couldn’t think for a moment, my Spark was lost and gave up. You saved my life, and I will never forget this”. “Don’t mention it sir, how many times have you saved my life?” “Twenty-two, but that’s not the point” he said with a sad but shy smile on his face. Arcee was like a daughter to him. He had always been there for her and trained her to become a great solider, to be a friend, and someone every Autobot could rely on. But she was now gone. His small smile turned sour again as the pod made great speed catching up to the others about to enter Cybertrons atmosphere. He knew this was no normal attack, this was made for Optimus so he couldn’t leave to help the humans. Megatron must have intercepted the news from Earth and thought that Prime was still here. Thank the Allspark they had already left. If Optimus had perished during this attack all hope would have been lost forever!
Chapter 4.
Secret spy.
A man went charging through a narrow corridor holding a stack of papers which read the words ‘confidential.’ He pressed his ID to a panel on a door and it quickly slid open to reveal he was standing in front of the president and chief of staff in the makeshift oval office. “Sir, Optimus has responded!” Tim jumped out his chair and patted Ross on the back with a huge smile. “At last, just took a little time” Ross smiled back at him. “Well?” Tim said to the little bearded man standing there out of breath and all sweaty. The little man continued. “The Autobots will be here by eleven pm tonight. Iron Hope lifted off from Moon base one. They’re coming sir, they really are coming back to help us” “Of course they are, they wouldn’t have left us by ourselves “Tim said. “Arrange hanger seven for their arrival and get everyone, and I mean everyone with cleared access in that room for eleven, ready for briefing. No excuses. I understand and feel that people may not see me as the perfect man to stand up and lead this world into...” He stopped and looked at Ross. “What am I leading this world into? What am I leading anyone into? No one knows if our statistics or data is going to work. It looks easy on paper”. Ross stopped him “Tim, no offence but now with Optimus prime, you are our best hope, everyone will support you. They must and they will, trust me” “I hope so, thanks Ross, I appreciate it. Look just get all the other leaders and the rest of NATO in the room. I haven’t got the time to be repeating myself to everyone at different points today. It’s one briefing and one briefing only, got it?” “Yes sir” The intern said saluting the president and running back out of the room. “Well, someone’s ready” Ross said. “We all need to be ready; the next few days will be a defining moment in the history of our home”.
Meanwhile, sitting in a dark office surrounded by hundreds of files and a dozen computer screens, a young man, youthful looking and handsome with short hair was moving through documents and staring at papers laid out upon his desk. It seemed as though he was speed reading everything and the concentration on his face made him look forbidding. A knock came from the door, there was no answer. A second later another knock came, and the door opened. “Paul, Paul” “What!!” he snapped as he turned around. “Jesus’ man Relax with the attitude. I’m Just here to give you a heads up that the president wants us all in hanger seven for eleven pm” “Really?” he responded “Its beginning. At last, it’s beginning”. What are you talking about, you still feeling ok after everything?”” I’m sorry man. Didn’t mean to snap at you, just stressed with all this work, I’m fine, just happy plans are about to move forward. I mean it’s about time we all knew what was going on right?” “Well good, glad you’re ready for this, just take it easy on the people you work with, ok mate, and don’t be late, eleven”. “I’m sorry bud, and don’t worry I won’t be late” The door shut, and Paul stopped still with all that he was doing and placed his fingers to the top of his temple. “Priority one, in process!” Three months earlier Paul was invited by NATO and his office to go up to the site of one of the horns that had been penetrated through Earth. The location was the Sahara Desert. During the summer the heat was unbearable and seeing he was from London he hated the coarse sand that blew through the tents on to all the equipment. He had never drunk so much water in his life and the heat was so bad it was difficult to sleep at night which made getting up for work in the mornings much more difficult. It was at this site that he had met a mysterious Asian girl who was slender and thin with silky skin and long wavy hair. Her brown eyes were strong looking, and she was very tall. She wore colourful shrouds of silk material and rings on both hands, while portraying jewellery against the top of her forehead. She had been hanging around for a while in the area, always leering in the shadows when the trucks turned up and people got out. It was like she was waiting for something or someone, ready to make a move like a snake finding its prey. Her actions looked very unsettling, and it felt she was trying to get close to someone, taking the time to find the right person. The days were long, and the time went slow in the heat of the desert, as more people turned up to inspect this great sight that had become onto Earth. Each day she watched, trying not to show her whereabouts when the time finally arrived, and she found what she had been looking for. She could see the crew in the distance touching the horned object trying to take samples from the towering artefact. She moved even closer to where one man seemed to be all by himself. At first, he didn’t see her, but it wasn’t long before she had caught his eye. People had always been hanging around on the outskirts of this site for a while now trying to see what these things were, but no one that he had seen had ever gotten this close before. He took off his gloves and stopped what he was doing, slowly walking across the coarse sand towards her. When he got closer, she had noticed his ID badge strapped to his trouser belt which read “Paul McKlean official rep of the presidential committee.” “Are you lost?” he said in a concerned way. Instead of retreating or becoming worried that she was trespassing a NATO site she came closer to him and spoke. “I wouldn’t do that. Don’t touch him, he doesn’t like it” “Who doesn’t like what?” “Unicron” she said, “But I can show you how to kill him”. “Kill him? Right. Sorry love but you’re on a restricted sight, I’m going to have to ask you to leave” “Wait a moment. Please listen to me” He moved even closer to her and waited to listen to what she had to say. “Everything that you are looking for, every day and month you are working on this you are letting it expand and grow”. “How do you know this?” Paul asked. “I know because I have been studying this for many years. I have so much information with me about why this is here and what it is. All you have to do is trust me and give me some of your time, so I can show you what you need to do to understand this phenomenon”. At this time, she reached into her pocket and pulled out a memory stick. “On here I have everything you need to know. This stick has been designed only to work in my own computer, to stop people from stealing it and getting hold of this vital information. You must trust me and come alone with me to my home so I can share with you what I know”. Paul stared at her, stunned with what she was saying. This had to be a joke, right? I mean some random lady in the desert with an invitation to go to her home alone. He continued to make conversation with her and after speaking for some more time, realised she might really have some vital data they had previously not found. After a short walk to his camp with her he went straight to the general in charge and spoke to him about the conversation they just had. “Don’t be daft. Paul you’re here because of what you can find out, not to take the advice of strangers that wander into a classified area. How many nut jobs out there would love to get their hands on this information? She’s probably working for a local news television station, turning on her charm to get to you”. “But sir, there is no way she could know what this artifact is made from, and what we have already found out, she has spoken about it all to me. So, she’s either psychic or she knows a lot more than we think. All I’m asking for sir is one night, so I can get what we might need to move us ahead of where we are now. What have we got to lose?” “Ok Mclean, you got one night”. It became clear again that the strange lady didn’t want to express any secrets to anyone else. She told Paul and his comrades she would only speak to him alone at her home, and that if anybody followed them, she would not release the information she had. “Ok” Paul Said. “I’ve got the all clear. I just need a little time to get my stuff together”. “No” she interrupted “we must leave now! I have all we need at my place, and we can have no interruptions”. “Ok ok, just let me get my phone”. Within an hour of walking in silence through the sand they arrived on the outskirts of a small town which looked very old and poor. Stray dogs barked along the rubble path and old beat-up cars passed them spraying toxic fumes into the air.” This place has seen better days”, Paul said as the lady turned down a little alley. “We’re here”. “At last,” he said as she led him up a flight of wooden steps to an old garage with iron bars on the windows. She opened the door and they both walked in. At first glance the place looked like something from a Frankenstein film. There were dirty wooden panels against the walls and all the windows had covers drowning out any sunlight.” Please take a seat. Paul, wasn’t it? Would you like a drink?” “Yes please, that walk has made me so dry, I don’t know how people can live out here in this heat? By the way I didn’t catch your name.” She handed him a beaker of water and sat down beside him on the sofa. “My name is Quintessa.” “Quintessa” he said, while chucking down his cool beverage. “You might have to write that one down for me”. As he was seated, he continued to look around. Old electrical equipment was sprawled about the room and there were no photos on the wall or anything there that resembled this Quintessa lady. It looked more like a builder’s studio than a home. “You live here?” Paul said. “For now,” she responded. He got up and walked to a table where medical equipment lay.” It’s a little strange if I’m being honest. What’s with all the equipment, were you once a Dr?” “Well not really”, Qunitessa said joining him at the table.” I like to experiment and try to help people understand that there is a greater cause then just existing”. Paul had no idea what she was talking about and began to feel a little uneasy. “You want to understand more of these horns, don’t you Paul?” “Of course,” he said moving away from the table seeing if there was any other evidence around of who this woman was. “We need every angle of information that we can grab, we’ve been doing this research for months and there is still so much we don’t understand. We have found the metallic compound of what it’s made of and what’s inside. But we still have no idea where it has come from or why.” “Well, my friend today the speculation ends, again let’s drink. This time to science and the wonders of the world.” She handed him another drink. This time it looked like whisky. “Something a little bit stronger before we get started perhaps. Here’s to science and... fate”. He took the glass and shot it down in one, clasping his teeth and breathing inwards after finishing. “Ah...Good shit, Now let’s get down to business! What do you know about this phenomenon? What can you tell us that we do not already know?” “The question is my dear, not what you lack in knowledge, but what you will gain for me in the future? I know so much more than you, but I don’t have all the answers. And the one answer I need more than anything is how you humans will try to go about defeating what lies beneath your planet. On how you will try to stop the mighty Unicron”. As she stopped speaking Paul twisted his head to the side and started to cough uncontrollably covering his mouth and spitting up blood. “Jesus Christ what’s happening? What is this? what have you given me? I can’t breathe. What have you …done? People will come looking I…. I…. I…need air ““What’s happening human is something that has been growing for centuries, and something that you now need to assist me with. Well, a part of you anyway”. With her final words he dropped the glass making it shatter all over the concrete floor and fell sharply to the ground, Spasming all over. Blood started to ooze out of his ears and nose making a dark purple pool on the floor as his eyes sucked back into his sockets leaving empty crevasses. She picked up the lifeless body and walked over to the huge table which was made of marble laying him down. Picking up a scalpel she leaned over him studying the corpse shaking her head from side to side, uttering strange words before making her first incision into the body. She sliced along the back of his head and continued in one line down his back moving onto each of his legs. With this, she transformed her arm into a heated soft tissue mobiliser and placed it at the incisions that she had made slowly and neatly ironing the bone and tissue away from the skin. “Why do humans have to be so messy?!”
Night fell over the NATO base, and all was quiet for a few hours while the men tried to get some well-earned shut eye. But Sam (One of Pauls colleges) couldn’t sleep due to the heat and kept looking at his clock tick away. It reached four twenty-three and he knew Paul had still not arrived back. He got out of his bed and stumbled across the room. “Guys. Guys” He whispered afraid to wake the colonial. “Where’s Paul? Guys!” He started hitting all the men’s feet, waking them up “Guys!!” “What!” Many of them shouted out loud, angry they had been disturbed from their slumber. Within minutes all the platoon (including the unforgiving colonial Justin) were analysing the situation. “I’ll tell you what” Sam said, “I bet he got lucky with that girl last night, remember she just wanted to ‘see him’.” “He knows better than that” Justin said. “This isn’t asleep over with a pretty girl, this is serious work”. “No, he knows that sir, I’m sure he’s ok, he’s probably just got lost or something. I mean we are all in the middle of nowhere”. “Got lost?! I don’t think so, he’s not that stupid and I’m sure she would have walked him back to base after she spoke to him. I’ve got a feeling Somethings happened. Try his dam mobile”. Sam took out his mobile dialled the number and put it on speaker phone. “Hello Paul?” Everyone waited to see if it was him that was going to answer. “Hey this is Paul... who is this?” “Who is this? Who the bloody hell do you think it is? Its Sam! Where are you? What are you doing? You should be back by now, Justin’s pissed but thank God you’re alright”. “I’m fine don’t worry about me. By the time we had finished with everything it had gotten late and the sand had picked up here. The walk back would have been too much tonight, look I’ll see you all first thing tomorrow morning. I’ve got so much I need to show you guys”. “Can’t you tell us now? Spill it man, what did she know?” “I can’t tell you over the phone. You’ll have to wait…See you tomorrow.” The phone went dead, and Sam looked over at the colonial. “I’ll tell you if he’s not back by 0 eight hundred tomorrow, I’ll be sending his arse back on the first flight out of here to DC”. With that everyone settled back down awaiting the story in the morning of what happened with Paul and the pretty girl.
The next morning eight o’clock had been and gone and there was still an empty bed with no sign of Paul. All the NATO staff were out working on the horn for hours, and Justin and Sam had been trying to get in touch with Paul all day. “He’s finished here. There is no way he will ever work on a project like this again. After I’ve finished with him, he’ll be lucky to get a job in a library stacking books”. After a hard morning in the sun everyone went into the tent for a lunch of cold Pesto pasta salad and bread. The mood was low as everyone knew that they would never hear the end of Justin’s moaning. Whilst eating, a familiar figure appeared in the doorway of the tent. “Guys!!” Justin got up and slammed his knife and fork down into his bowl. “Where the hell have you been?!” “Relax man” Paul said while reaching under his overcoat pulling out a machine gun. Everyone froze. No one knew what to say or do to their friend who was holding a weapon in his hand. Sam slowly rose from his seat. “Mate, take it easy, Its ok. Whatever’s happened we can help. Just lower the weapon.” Paul stood there with what seemed like no care in the world for what Sam was saying. “Look kid” Justin interrupted “Lower that weapon, come on. Let’s forget this and go home. We’re all on the same side Eh? What the hell has gotten into you?” Suddenly, a smirk came upon the face of their colleague. “That’s the question “Paul said as he tilted his head to the side emptying the barrel of bullets into his work friends. A nightmarish scene fell over the sight that everyone had called home for months. Blood hit the side of the canvas walls and sprayed along the beds and photos of loved ones. Particles of bone fragment fell to the ground as the screaming, which was terrifying, lasted for only a few seconds. Sam, while lying there bleeding out of his neck, tried to reach for his gun as Paul walked over. Trying to raise the weapon up with his dying arm he spoke “Why Paul?” Leaning over and taking the gun out of his hand he smiled “Sorry I’m late”. He made one more shot into Sam’s head and dropped the gun heading straight for the files and the classified computer data. He went through them in minutes screaming in a dark alien language, and when he had found out what he had gathered what he needed turned to exit the tent. He looked at the dead bodies and called Washington. Emergency, emergency! This is Paul at Sahara one one nine”. Yes, Paul, we hear you, what’s happening?!” “There all dead! I repeat everyone is Dead!” He started explaining that he was out the previous night collecting information and had walked back into the massacre that lied before him. He told Washington that he didn’t understand how someone could do such terrible crimes to his friends and was constantly sobbing into the phone. He asked for backup and emergency transportation to come to the site to assist. They told him it would be a few hours until anybody could reach him in that area, and with that he dropped the phone to Walk outside. He stopped and turned around looking into the tent one final time, whilst doing so he stood at attention, saluted and whispered to the dead bodies, “Thanks guys!” before taking a seat outside in the hot burning sun.
Back in DC he was debriefed and given a full psychological study. Three months on and no one was closer to finding out who did this or why. There was no motive for anyone, even the Russians were on everyone’s side at this point. Paul had known these people for years; he had become very close with many of them, no one even questioned the fact that he was the only one left standing. The focus had been on this woman that he didn’t even have a name for, the one who took him away. After much prodding and analysing they found out that she had given him no new information that they didn’t already have. He tried to focus on the job again with the support of his Dr’s and psychiatrist and lately he had been doing much more work than before, staying back late and really trying his best to serve the company. There seemed to be no physical differences to him apart from a few deep scars that went down his back and legs. He had said he had gotten these when he fought in Vietnam and that they had been made worse by the dry and humid heat in the Sahara. Everyone that had worked with him for years asked him daily if he was alright because deep down, they knew that these past few traumatic months, had Transformed Paul forever.
Chapter 5.
The plans.
Iron Hope burned up through the atmosphere and approached France like any other NASA ship. The fire, a fantastic bright green glow with a slick high hum, grew louder in the sky as the giant ship came to land on the runway at maximum force. The runway had been Specifically built for this arrival and the pressure on the wheels made the tarmac crack on touchdown as the huge alien metallic landers shook the station and made it shatter for a moment like an earthquake. Everyone could see the huge grey and white machine from a distance and were ready to greet their allies to planet earth once more. “Sir there here”. “Good “said President Tim “lets welcome back our friends”. Over an hour later, more than one hundred people were standing in the huge volcanic hangar. Everyone was there including, Ross, Lennox, Steep and even Paul! The white flag bearing the image of the world was flying and each representative had headphones on to understand the English-speaking people and vice versa. The noise of over one hundred people from all countries talking at once sounded very chaotic and it was hard to hear yourself think in the room. A voice came over the speakers which caught everybody’s attention. “Ladies, gentleman, officials, generals, and invited members of NATO please welcome the President of the United States, the free world and all countries”. Everybody rose and clapped loudly as Tim walked out wearing a casual T-shirt and jeans. He took a moment to look at the weary faces on everyone and breathed deeply before beginning to speak. “At one time it would have been a dream for all our countries and leaders to clap as one. But I am merely the new guy on the block, the speaker for all of us here. Thank you for your commitment to the course and the ongoing pledge to find the answers and truth to how we can all carry on and survive on this fragile planet. We have stopped the word of Armageddon getting out there by unfortunately having to shield the truth from people. If the world knew of why these meteors were falling and what may lie beneath us, I guarantee this faith we hold together would be now lost and the fight would be a lot harder. Now, I must introduce to you someone who we need at this hour. Please if you could welcome a true friend of mine. Someone who will not stop until the world has been spared of this tragedy that is upon us. The leader of the Autobots, Optimus Prime!!” Everyone stood up and waited with anticipation for what they were about to witness. Optimus came rolling in his long nosed western star truck. His colour was an ocean blue with rich red flames throughout the body. The wheel rims were a grand sliver, and the smokestacks rose into the air making his cab section feel large and intimating. He transformed in front of everybody, his panels shifted and moved upon top of each other as his hands came out from below the truck bed. The wheels folded behind the back area of his leg structure which was made up of the bottom cab section. His chest became tighter, as the windows to the truck collapsed into itself to reveal primes head folding upwards to lay steadily on the body of the great robot. The bolts and screws fell into place, as his mouth plate opened on his face to let him talk freely and calmly to the humans in awe watching this marvel unfold. Even after Transformation the room stayed quiet as he began to speak.
“Friends, you are aware we have returned to Earth to help defeat what lies in way, not only for your planet but also ours. The next few days are critical to the existence of both our species and with the help of all nations, we will come together and work as one to make sure we can all have a future. We must not stop until the world has healed, and our universe’s can co-exist together. Now we believe the power to bring this evil force to its knees has been found.” Tim stepped in “As you are all fully aware. after the attacks by Earths gravitational pull, and the loss of half of our land mass, we are facing without doubt the Titan of chaos. Unicron is real! The Autobots have come to the conclusion, and after all the work we ourselves have been doing, we can now confirm that Unicron is, and has always been inside our Earth, making itself one with the planet. It should not come as a shock to most of you, as we all believed this may have been the situation growing for months. The public still living in mostly Europe and Asia, still believe it’s global warming, which we have lied about for some time now. But with the horn’s arrival in four more parts of the world, lots of speculation is now building to breaking point. Each day brings Unicron closer to engulfing our home”. “May I say president” Prime intervened “Unicron will become your planet. Each continent left will be taken apart, and a small piece of the Titan will crack through all of the countries that have survived. The Pacific Ocean being the focus of our mission. The head of Unicron will eventually smash through the Pacific, and even my own kind would of never seen anything which will compare to this fear or dread. By calculations of Earths maps, we can expect a total of two thousand to three thousand miles in just the head length” Everyone started talking frantically trying to let the mere size sink in. The conversation turned frantic as Tim interrupted their worrying thoughts. “Even though we know Unicron to be big, his size has met us all with some shock and worry”. He put on a monitor which projected onto a huge wall. One of his team placed slides into the slot which showed the land mass of how Unicron would take over. “With his body size so enormous and the middle of the Earth’s crust concealing him, we can see by this animation a transformation of Earth. With every continent cracking into fragments, I’m sorry to say, but all that we will be left with is One huge mother fucking robot!” Optimus shook his head not enjoying the coarse language used by the leader. The explanation given to the men was the same as a guinea pig breaking through a bowling ball consuming everything in its wake. It’s as if the pig had the ball around it for protection and when it was ready to unleash all its power it would bring Armageddon upon all. Everybody fell silent while the screens slides keep moving showing the planet at different stages of its metamorphosis. No one there had much confidence anymore that this giant was even beatable. “Move people, we have things to do” said Tim as everyone exited the room running like lemmings holding their computers and papers in hand. Tim looked at Optimus and Ross and spoke to them both simultaneously. “I want to know what everybody knows. I want solutions, tactics, keep communications open twenty-four seven, we don’t have a minute to spare. Work together and let’s end this”. “Yes Sir!” they both said in their different tones, staring at each other knowing that the time had arrived. While everyone emptied the room, Tim walked back swiftly to his office and sent a call to Optimus to meet him at the rendezvous point which was directly below. A lift took the President down to the hangar. This was the French military base that held all the supplies and weapons that any army would need. F 35’s sat in a row waiting to be piloted by the brave soldiers that would soon fly them. Just above the hanger and around the base was the port in which the ships were docked ready for action. The underground base was on a moving system that could be lifted to the ground at the flick of a switch. During these uncertain times with Earth, it was best to keep all F 35’s safe and locked up until they were needed in the sky. Optimus had been down here before, but this time a new President stood there. Tim once again looked at Prime roll in and transform in his unique way, unfolding and stretching out, getting himself together (literally) and walked towards the new commander in chief. At the same moment Paul had walked around the outskirts of the base and had found his way to the meeting place where the President always held his cobra briefings. He had found out the whereabouts of this place from the data he collected in the desert. It was said on the private files of the President that all important consultations happened behind closed doors in this area. The next plan of action he was certain would be discussed here. He slowly approached the main hanger and two soldiers in full uniform spotted him. “Excuse me” they said, hastily moving towards him. “You are in a restricted area please leave at once!” Hey! Wait a minute guy’s,” Paul said moving closer to them “I’m from TRF. Its Fine I’ve got clearance”. “Sir, no one has clearance in this area”. Well, I do!” he snapped whilst stabbing both through the throat with a thin bladed weapon which portrayed out of both his arms. Twisting the blade, they both gaged for air and dropped the pistols they were holding. The blood ran down Paul’s shirt and he dragged them away before it ran on to the floor. Opening one of the huge trash cans he folded each one backwards breaking both of their spines and crushed their faces into each other’s placing them into the dumpster. After committing this act, he walked a little and began to head down flights of stairs arriving at the area he was trying to get to. Getting as close as he could to hear what they were saying, he hid behind one of the plane wheels and crouched down lowering his head trying not to get noticed. “President Timothy. I am sorry for the loss of your leader and friend William. I had met him many times and he will always be remembered as a hero by me and my team of Autobots. He was a fine example of human kindness and compassion. But now this mission lies upon you. We are ready to fight this battle with you.” “Thankyou Optimus” he said with a tear in his eye. “I’m just in no man’s land. Do you really think we have a chance to get our planet back and defeat Unicron?” “We have much to discuss with your men, but my calculations have shown a mass shift in the pacific in the last twenty-four hours. We believe the core of Unicrons head will penetrate and rise through the ocean floor first.”. “Optimus, I just can’t comprehend this; I mean it’s like I’m reading a novel or watching a movie. We’ve been through so much pain lately; I just never imagined the end of our world to be linked with a giant killing machine”. “We also never thought, President Tim, that our planets would have been linked together through the ages”. “Ok Optimus, the big question. What do we do?” “After hours of theorising the way to achieve success is to go to the chest of the giant. When his head begins to rise his body will be low on the ocean floor. We shall deploy nine evenly spread mini submarines to drill sharp small holes and fill them with Cybertronian explosives. We must drill deep, and the pressure will be low in this area of the water so it’s important to use your best people for this delicate mission. We can guide you with the drilling, but it must be very small holes to guarantee the bombs have a chance of impacting deep inside the shell of Unicron. We are too big to do such delicate work”. Tim thought about what Optimus was suggesting and had a few questions of his own. “Why don’t you just fire your weapons at the chest below the water? It can be risky sending that many subs down there. It’s hard enough to pick things up from the bottom of the ocean never mind drilling at that depth”. “This would not work”, Prime responded. “Due to his size, his armour plate would not crack from an outside explosion of our weapons capability. Getting pinpoint accurate drilling on what we think could be small, vulnerable places, is the only way to make sure we can load the explosives inside him. Detonating them all at the same time should make the body structure crack away from the earth’s core, crushing his spark and making him not able to penetrate more of your planet. Each country should be able to rebuild their homes and cities above the rest of the barren land that you share and begin a new era of your existence”. “Ok, I’ve got you. But what do we do with a quarter of a robot the size of Australia?” Tim said worryingly. “I am considering my Options” Optimus replied. “And if it doesn’t work?” Optimus turned his head away and silence fell over him. “Optimus if this plan doesn’t work, what then?” Prime looked away from Tim disheartened and kept his head bowed while answering the question. “Then Earth will be gone and all life and living things will be destroyed and lost forever. Over time Unicron would inhale all the nutrients this world has to offer. He will travel to galaxies, including Cybertron’s and become the leader of planets, fading the stars forever with his destruction”. “So, we’re up shit creek?” Tim concluded. “Even though I disagree with your language president, I concur”. Paul was just staying quiet and listening in. He didn’t feel scared or threatened by Optimus prime. It was like he didn’t even know who he was. He only seemed to be concentrating on the words that this large robot was saying, not who this robot was. As soon as they had finished and were leaving the underground facility, he stood up and pressed his temple, quietly saying out loud “Qunitessa. Plan of action collected; all information received. Awaiting instructions”.
“Lord Megatron, the explosion has been a success and the headquarters on moon base one has fallen”. “Good, at last some positive news. At least you useless lot can get one thing right! Tell them to inform me as soon as Primes body has been recovered. I want his head as a trophy on my chamber wall”. “Of course, lord” Soundwave said with his echoed voice chamber bouncing of the walls with its screech. “Little do the humans know we are on our way to shut down their pathetic plans. With Prime and his friends not interrupting my mission now, the war on Earth should be easily taken. How long till we reach that dirty planet?” Megatron growled. “Three cycles lord. Your army is ready and awaiting your instructions to serve”. “Excellent,” he said, tapping his huge fingers together. “I must contact Quintessa at once, she is gathering human knowledge of how to bring anyone that stands in our way down to their knees. She is using a new technique of taking one of our own and placing the flesh of these maggots around it” “The plan seems logical lord Megatron” “It will only be logical if it works Soundwave. It better work, or my endeavour to summon Unicron to me with ease will be much harder. Contact Quintessa now, to tell her that I am awaiting the plan of what the humans tend to do. I am not a patient leader”. A snarl came from his mouth as his sharp teeth showed under his metallic lips. “At once Lord”. “Stop grovelling and do it”. As soundwave exited the room, Knockout came walking up to the tyrant and bowed upon one knee. “Lord Megatron, impact with Earth’s atmosphere will be in less than one cycle, we must prepare for landing”. “Enhance the stealth camouflage beacon and bring us in gently.” The nemesis slowly penetrated the blue ball and guided through the clouds, entering the sky with grandeur. It was a shame no one would get to see it with the shield activated. The only thing that was visible, looking closely at it, was a strong wind cluster and squawking birds flying in many different directions. The Nemesis was the heart of the Decepticon fleet, built in secret for this journey alone. They could survive on it for hundreds of years. The deep purple and blue spaceship touched down on the outskirts of the Ocean, away from the armies of ships and officials monitoring the vast waters for miles upon miles. When the Nemesis touched down on the water Megatron turned to speak. “With the fleshlings here, it seems that all the work I have done trying to locate the destination of Unicron’s arrival has been fulfilled”. “Lord, incoming transmission on hollow bay one”. Megatron walked over to the bay waiting to receive the message and flicked the switch to activate the colourful dome. Glass lights started to flicker on the grey floor and an image of Quintessa flashed a few times before becoming much more solid. “Ah my Queen at last.” “Megatron, I have good news” The picture of the hologram faded in and out distorting at times. “I hope you do; I am becoming restless. We must begin our plan now; we must kill the human’s at once before they interfere even more. What do you know?” “I have gathered information of an underwater attack using Cybertronian weapons with the help of human submarines. They will drill deep holes which will be pinpointed around Unicron’s torso and leave heavy explosives to separate him from the earth’s core itself”. “Ha! Human technology. In all the years flighting this scum I have only seen pitiful excuses for their so-called technology”. “Megatron do not underestimate them, they have learned much together with the Autobots. We must be ready to strike as soon as they arrive”. “Good so there’s no time to waste. Thank your human pet for me or kill him. Do whatever you want with it, just be here by my side when I begin my next great war”. Quintessa stared into his eyes. “You mean our great war”. “Whatever” he responded turning his back on the image. “I will be where I need to be Megatron, until victory is ours”. “You need not doubt my…our victory, I…we shall reign supreme together.” “I hope so” she said as the hollow image shrunk to its knees and vanished through the floor leaving Megatron standing there with a sly grin on his face. “Why is she so worried Soundwave? Only a few Autobots stayed on this planet when we left for Cybertron years ago. Now with Prime gone there is no chance, just a few Autobot stragglers and puny humans will throw the Decepticon mission into disarray.”. Stopping what he was working on he turned to face his master. “Yes, Lord Megatron” “Summon the seekers to my chamber, they must now know about the human’s plan. They are lucky I have destroyed Prime and the other traveling army of Autobots. With the Information I now have, and the demise of Optimus and his traveling army, my war just became a whole lot easier”
Chapter 6
Chaos in Paris.
The morning started out like any other, cold blue skies and a touch of grey in places. Optimus Prime and the other Autobots were preparing the battleships in port with supplies for the soldiers, and weapons that would come in handy for battle. A light flashed on Primes arm which he touched to reveal a holographic TV screen. Optimus seemed reluctant to take the call. “Sir”. “Yes, Ultra Magnus, please speak quickly as we are at work here loading supplies”. “I understand sir, I normally wouldn’t contact you on Earth, but this is very, very urgent!”. “Then speak to me old friend but please make it brief”. There was a pause in Magnus’s voice as he spoke to Prime of the horror that had happened back home. “Optimus, moon base one was attacked yesterday! The whole Moon and control room was lost and many of our friends….” There was a silence in Magnus’s speech as all the bots on Earth gathered around Optimus’s screen, shocked, scared and stunned at what they were hearing. “The blast was made for you and Iron hope sir. The Decepticons think you have been destroyed with many more Autobots”. No one knew what to say, they all just stood there lifeless and heartbroken, then Prime spoke. “It is by the Allspark that many more of us were spared from this blast and survived to live for another day. We must continue to fight on to bring Megatron to justice and not let our fallen comrades die in vain. He now believes there is a small Autobot resistance here, the ones who have been disguised on Earth for some time already, waiting for our arrival. He will not fear just them. He will in his own mind have the confidence to fight and succeed with what he suspects is only a small army. We shall strike Unicron and strike him hard! We now have the advantage that we can spring an attack with a bigger force. He will not expect reinforcements, and he will definitely not expect me! Do you have any word on when the Decepticons will approach?” “All we know sir is that they have left Cybertron and should reach Earth at any time”. “Then it’s time to inform the humans that the time is now. Finish quickly preparing all ships and follow the lead of your superiors who will guide you on where you must be at. Drift, Crosshairs, Bumblebee spread the word”. “Yes Optimus” they said whilst walking into different sections of the dock yard. Optimus turned to look at Ultra Magnus on the screen again and felt scared asking the question he was about to put before him. “Was there….” Before he could finish his question, the answer came and sent shockwaves through his whole system. “I’m sorry sir…we just… we just couldn’t find her.” “I understand” he said switching of his screen and making a fist so tight that the indents of his fingers made the metal of his palm crush inwards.
Tim was busy trying to communicate to the press as much as he could. Words like ‘Global warming’ were wearing thin and the same “We have the situation under control” was starting to take its toll even on him. But again, there wasn’t much more he could tell them, unless he wanted to cause mass hysteria like the plaque. “I’m sorry guys but I’ve told you again, and again that the situation is at hand. We have the best scientists in the field working around the clock dealing with what’s happening. As soon as I know, you’ll know. Look, I’m sorry but I have a full morning ahead and I must leave it there. Thank you all”. Tim hung his head as he walked out of a side door followed by his men, “But Mr President…, Mr President”. Tim closed the door behind him and stepped into the new oval office and took two headache tablets out of his pocket and washed it down with a glass of water. Walking over to his wife Elaine, she comforted him with a hug as she always did when he looked stressed. She was a tall slender lady, sporting a grey trouser suit and heels. Her skin was heavily made up and she wore a tight bun upon the top of her hair. “Well done honey, I know it’s not easy lying to everyone. You had to say Bill had a heart attack. You couldn’t have just come out with the truth that he committed suicide. You’re doing your country proud; we shall get through this together dear”. “It’s going to be a tough fight” he said as she leaned over to kiss him on the cheek. At this exact time the office floor started to shake a little, and pictures started to fall from the walls.” What the hell…?!” Elaine said as the rumble hit the floor and the tiles jumped up into the air like freshly cooked popcorn, shattering upon impact when they fell back to the ground. Glass panel windows started to crack and smash while furniture began moving all around the room by itself. “Jesus!” Tim mumbled. “What the….” The door flew open and six of the presidents’ bodyguards suddenly grabbed him and the first lady while smashing into bookshelf’s knocking files and paperwork to the ground. Hurrying them out of the room and down long corridors of past pictures of previous Presidents, they arrived outside the front of the building and huddled them into their private car waiting. All the other leaders that were staying there were also being escorted from their stations inside the base. The new “White House’ which was in Paris after the wipe-out of America, Asia and Australia from all the quakes, was beginning to fall. Rubble fell from the newly painted walls and the gardens in which children had planted the pretty Calla Lilly beds rose up bringing soil, concrete and fire to the landscape. The windows smashed in on themselves and the gates surrounding the property suddenly shot out of the ground, flying through the air, joining the blaze that was happening inside the only place that the leaders had called home for months.
Paris was as calm as it could be nowadays. People had changed since the loss of half the world, and everyone understood that things were just not right with the planet, but they still needed some sort of normality. Street performers and poets were still trying to make a few euros, and many people flocked to the open cafes and stores on the Champs-Elysée’s. The city was still very busy as everyone tried to live their life as normal as possible, each person trying to understand why the world had changed so much. Some still didn’t buy the climate change status that the government was feeding them and little did anybody know what lay just around the corner. Slowly a strange smell came up from the water that lay on the river Seine, and soon it began to boil with hot steaming gasses. This moved along the breadth of the river and people began to look over the wall down at the phenomenon. Only a few seconds later eruptions of lava came shooting up like tower blocks spilling out onto the streets, engulfing everything in its wake. Buildings that had stood for hundreds of years started to crack and split apart crumbling to the ground. The roads and pavements buckled and holes the size of football fields began to slice through concrete. The inferno bellowed out of the ground suffocating thousands of people in minutes. The Eiffel Tower, a structure of peace and hope for generations, unbolted from its structure and shards of metal flew through the air smashing into cars parked up on the sidewalk. Explosions flung the legs out of their position and the beautiful structure began to fall in one direction, slowly and in a majestic way, smashing through everything and everyone in its path. The haunting bells of the Notre Dame Cathedral rang and echoed as a warning sign from the religious. They believed the second coming was nigh (and they weren’t wrong) but the chimes didn’t last long as the cathedral came shattering down to nothing but debris in a matter of moments. The only thing that survived were the bells, rolling on to the roads smashing into cars trying to get out of Paris.
Emergency vehicles deployed as thousands upon thousands lay dead or wounded not understanding why or what was happening in the city of love. The presidential cars came to a sudden stand still at Charles de Gaulle airport, each door opened simultaneously, and everyone hurried across the tarmac to Air force one that had its engines running and was ready to go.” Hurry Move! Move!” Came the call as the ground beneath their feet started to rumble and panic started surrounding the airport. At that point temperature stood at over eighty degrees and the jet they were boarding began to drip with condensation. “MOVE!” came the final call as the last of the passengers stepped foot upon the plane. The door was still closing as the wheels started to turn and move. Everyone took a seat quickly and strapped in, some holding hands, some praying, others just calmly shutting their eyes. The jet started to taxi onto the runway and began to reach maximum speed as it took off. Just as they lifted into the air the front tyre exploded and burst into flames, sending a huge shudder through the cabin knocking everyone from left to right. Concrete surrounding the front wheel came up like putty hitting the underbelly of Air Force One, and the pilots just managed to pull back lifting everyone out of danger and up into the sky. Rubber and a trail of mechanical parts fell from the huge aircraft to the burning city below. Tim looked out the window at the smoke coming from the front of the plane knowing something wasn’t right. By some miracle they had survived take off and were airborne, but with what was happening outside of their windows everybody now had doubt if the aircraft could safety land again.
The light flickered on, and the captain spoke to the frightened passengers still in a state of shock. “This is your captain. We hope you all managed to strap yourselves in in time and we are safely up at this moment with the plane’s engines working fine. Unfortunately, as most of you probably saw we have lost our front wheel and our landing gears have burnt out with the explosion. At this point in time, we cannot land air force one! Please understand we are doing everything that we can and are in talks with ground staff at other airports about how to land safely, but at the moment, we are not sure how to go about it. Tim rose from his seat and issued Ross to follow him into his office near the front of the aircraft. When inside he reached for two glasses and pulled open a mini bar. “Whisky?” Tim said. “Why the hell not” Ross replied. The president filled the glass with just under half of the strong liquor and both shot it down in one mouthful. “That my friend, was needed. My God Ross, why didn’t anybody see this coming? We have known about all the other quakes and meteors falling from the bloody sky for months and have evacuated half of the world to new locations and our experts can’t pick up on fucking Paris?” “Sir, if we had any knowledge of this going to happen, they would have let us know, even before I speak to anyone, I can tell you nothing would have been in the data. Look to be honest, with what’s happening in the pacific with Unicron and Prime, no offense, but this seems like the least of our worries”. Tim angled his head and frowned. “Are you fucking with me Ross? The least of our worries. The least of our fucking worries. Thousands upon thousands of people have just died on our watch. For God’s sake try to be little bit more sensitive, that’s an order. Do you understand me?” “Sorry sir…, I… didn’t mean it like that. I’m just so confused about everything that’s going on. I don’t know what I’m saying sometimes and being stuck in this plane is freaking me the hell out” “I know, it’s hard for us all. Look, we need to call Optimus. We need to let him know our situation. I was told in the car that Prime and the platoon had left port well before the quake and hopefully a few of our F 35’s managed to take to the skies. We need to see if there’s anything he or our men can do for us. Explain the Paris situation if they already haven’t heard and see where everyone’s up to. We need to keep our shit together, understood?” “Yes, Mr President”. Tim walked out and up the stairs leaving Ross to contact prime and made his way to the area of the plane where everyone was seated. He stopped, took a breath and looked up at them all. “Everyone, while we were making plans for the biggest challenge we have ever faced, another twist has come into play. I don’t think I need to explain that this Catastrophic earthquake we just faced was the shifting in Unicron. Even with what Paris is now facing I believe the best solution would be to stick to the plan we all agreed on. The drilling must go on! The drilling must succeed! And we must play our part in giving the autoboots the best chance of blowing this bastard up” The Russian prime minister stood up from his seat and spoke. “I have hope and faith in the Autobots plan. We must stick together at this critical point”. The English Prime minister then rose to his feet, his tie undone and his shirt hanging over his trousers “I understand the work that’s going on down there and I completely agree. But there’s one little thing I think we may all be forgetting, How the hell are we going to land!?” Tim moved slightly forward holding his hand to his head. (The Tablets hadn’t worked) “We are at this moment trying to contact Optimus to let him know our situation. We are waiting on a response”. “So not only are we relying on the Autobots to save Earth Mr President, but we are also relying on them to save our plane as well”. Tim slumped into his chair agreeing in his head with what the Prime Minister had said. Only a few years ago the government was trying to send the Autobots back to their home Planet by force, but now they, and the whole world needed their help like never before.
Chapter 7.
Primes surprise.
The biggest battleships Earth could collect were in the Pacific Ocean and moving at great speed towards the outlaying area where Unicron was expected to penetrate. The Ocean was vast, so each ship was on Its own in their designated place. The Nemesis was still far away enough and in stealth mode that it couldn’t be seen by anyone. Megatron was walking back and forth on the bridge. For the first time in history many Decepticons could feel a nervousness inside their Leader. “We do not attack until all Autobot stragglers and humans are in place. Soundwave, give me an estimate time of when we attack”. “Lord Megatron. Lazerbeak has returned after spotting the ships from the air and has come to the suggestion that over ninety-five percent of human and Autobot forces are ready. Scanning has also been taken of the whole area, but we cannot pinpoint them”. Megatron paused and turned to his longest serving Decepticon solider. “And why not?” he asked with bemusement. Soundwave nervously began to try and explain. “The metallic structure of these water ships is using stealth camouflage inside and out. They have used this many times on their stealth bombers when afflicting war upon themselves.”” Ah… Yes. Human warfare. They are sometimes like us soundwave, fighting among themselves. Always looking to outdo each other. Sometimes their cunningness makes me feel like congratulating them, if that was a thing I would do. Which it isn’t. And remind me to scan that stealth bomber for myself when we have finished here, I quite like the look of it, from what I can remember. Lazerbeak, until now you have never let me or Soundwave down. So, I am relying on the fact that you have correctly pinpointed when we are ready for attack. We launch in a quarter of a cycle. Ready my troops?” Soundwave bowed and exited the bridge while Megatron gracefully turned and held up his head looking out to the ocean. “Unicron. Now we become one”.
“Optimus everyone is ready”.” Thankyou Hotrod. Megatron thinks that we were killed but we live to fight on another day for peace. The time is now! Tell all to begin project Unicron, our surprise must now come to an end”. Bumblebee walked over to the main console and spoke into the microphone which connected all Autobots and humans together on one channel. “Project Unicron is a go!!” As the first splashes of robot, human and mini sub hit the water surrounding the pacific, Optimus received the emergency message from Air force one. He responded right away, even though he had a lot to deal with in front of him. “Air force one this is Optimus prime. We have started our attack on Unicron, and the pressure is now on us all. I have heard your call for help and can only ask you to follow my instructions to the word”. Everyone on the plane looked very relieved when primes voice was played through the cabin but that soon turned to terror again with what he was asking. “Make a one hundred and eighty degree turn and fly towards the Pacific Ocean where you need to await further command. You must turn now; an action plan will be taken when you get closer to us”. After he had finished, he automatically called for Broadside, one of his bravest soldiers, and spoke to him about the plan that he was going to bring forward. “Do you understand what I need from you, my friend? This is vitally important, please be careful and stay out of sight”. “You’ve got it boss” Broadside said whilst rushing away full of enthusiasm.
The call that Optimus had just made had everyone on board the plane panic. “Mr President are we going to follow these bizarre instruction? I mean there’s nothing there but water and what’s going to be a huge battlefield. Are we sure these orders came from Prime, what the hell must he be thinking, flying us over a war zone, why? What for?” The Prime minster of Australia said. Tim spoke up. “Sir’s, at this time our options are clear. We either do what Optimus has requested we do, or we try to land somewhere by ourselves which is certain suicide.” He looked around the plane and told everyone that the decision would be put up for a vote. The voting didn’t take long, and everyone decided in the end to follow Primes instructions including the Australian PM, even though he did think that Optimus had malfunctioned with a request like this. They had all put their trust in him before and it had paid off. They must put their trust in him again, and with that the plane took a sharp right turn and the journey into the unknown began.
“Decepticons, attack!!” The Nemesis awoke from its sleep state and came into full view. The ship towered over the ocean floor as one by one Decepticons came out of hiding launching down to the rocky sea. “Attack my Armada bring an end to these pitiful humans, fly seekers to the outer areas and bring down anything that stand in my way”. Within moments the sky was full of tetra jets shooting in all directions filling the sky with their bright colours beginning the final war. “Shouldn’t take us long…Ha… Ha… Ha” Megatron chuckled to Soundwave. While the crews were diving into the black abyss more of the huge horns began to rip open areas of the ocean floor sending shockwaves through miles and miles of water. Each submarine was held on to by one of the Autobots as the waves began to smash against them. As the water rocked, fierce gas bubbles made the water turn into a humongous sauna, and the terror slowly began. “Steady all the ships Autobots. We are joining you to win this fight” came a voice through the monitors of the Bots fighting the waves. The panel door began to lower on the surprise vessels of Autobots around the ocean, and Prime led his hidden army out into battle. “Dive, save Earth and the galaxy. Till all are one”.
Paul at this point had already blown his cover as a human. He didn’t understand the Decepticons and who they were, his only purpose was to serve Quintessa and do the missions she had entailed upon him. Now his first assignment of spying was complete, and the information had been delivered on the plan of the humans, the only other task was to kill the fleshlings that were based on the ships. He had snuck aboard one of them and hid in the engine room whilst it sailed out. He didn’t make a move until each soldier was firing their cannons and rail guns trying to pinpoint each Decepticon jet before it went searching below the ocean. As soon as he found a target, he charged at them and screeched, pulling them of their station and unleashing his hate. More of the navy came out upon deck and could see his strength. They all tried to shoot him, which did no good, all it did do was rip his flesh showing some of his exposed robot parts. He walked up to where they were gathered and spoke “I don’t know? … or understand?... why I hate you! …All I know is… I do” and with that began to grab each one of their throats and snap their necks throwing the bodies overboard.
“Lord Megatron”. “Yes Soundwave”. “Lord we have received an update from the battlefield”. “And?” “It seems that…”, “Yesss, “It seems that……” “SPIT IT OUT!” He growled while grinding his teeth together. “We have scanned an extra huge army of Autobots launching into the pacific”. “What! What is this? I destroyed their ship, I killed Prime. Tell me it’s not Primes crew, by the might of the fallen tell me Prime does not live”. Soundwave slowly backed into the corner of the bridge and spoke the dreaded words. “Lord Megatron… Optimus Prime has been detected!”. Megatron’s eyes became intense, and he let out a scream that could be heard through the whole ship as he began to smash his fist into anything he could see. “What NO! NO! I’ll rip his optics out. Soundwave how is this possible?” “Unclear my Lord”. “Unclear…Unclear?! Well, I am going to make it very clear”.
The battle had now begun and Unicrons body was slowly rising. Each Autobot and human below were now faced with the hard task of drilling. While they were deep below the water Unicrons head was rising through, and the body of him was beginning to show through the earth’s crust. The drilling was given the go by all the Autobots to all submarines based in their target areas. They started to very slowly penetrate the fierce metallic structure that lay before them with the smallest of drills that had been connected to the front of them all. The cogs screeched as they turned, and smoke rose into the water making it harder to see with the lights that they had. As the tip of the drills slowly passed into his armour a small sense of relief came upon everybody, happy to at least know the visible area of the torso was accessible. “Keep it steady” Hound said to everyone over the static communication channels. “He’s rising at a slow rate. Continue to move deeper but very slowly, we can’t afford the drills to snap”. “Received “came the call from all the surrounding areas. Unicrons chest was very difficult to make out because it was so humongous. Each team looking at their targeted area could just see plated metal for miles. It looked like they were just submerged, floating next to a huge wall that had no beginning or end. From below the teams couldn’t see Unicrons head that had risen through the gases and smoke. They were in such small subs that all they could see were dark shadows through their small port windows. The Autobots though had caught a glimpse of him while holding the subs in place. They contacted everyone above to tell them to brace for the horror that was coming their way. It was a scary time, even for a Transformer, but they continued their work protecting the humans in their professional manner like always. The scientists had asked why the Autobots couldn’t do the drilling or just blast a hole in the area that was needed for the explosive. The conclusion was a blast from one of their weapons would just crack Unicrons body, not giving it a snug enough fit for the explosives that they needed. A tight packed chamber of holes equally drilled around the body would be the only chance of hopefully, certain success. The Decepticon seekers unleased a barrel of missile attacks upon the water’s surface making the waves even more intense than what they already were. Others dived straight through trying to find the scum who were bringing complications to their lord’s mission. As they dove deeper and deeper Crosshair spotted one using his thrusters to try and get close to spring an attack. He couldn’t believe that only within minutes they had already found one area that they were trying to drill in. Crosshair’s colour of green looked much darker underneath the water and his weapons were very much still secure in his normal position (underneath his trench coat car doors). He Transformed into a beautiful stingray while on land and loved to drive fast, always one of the first on the scene when trouble came. “Knockout, how did you find us in this mass ocean so quickly?” Knockout answered him with a cocky response. “I could smell your scum a galaxy away… Die Autobot Die!” He hurtled towards the Autobot who was trying to keep the mini sub steady. “No!” Crosshairs screamed as the force of the attack hit him hard on the side of the chest making the submarine shake and rattle. Inside the sub the captain of the mission could see the barrel of carnage happening outside their shaky window and called Lennox. “Sir, I think we have lost Crosshairs, he seems to be getting ambushed. They’re here sir, they have found us! The counterattack is happening. We must drill faster!” Crosshairs and Knockout were both trying to put up a good fight, but Knockout seemed somewhat stronger. He kept hitting hard into the Autobots head, pounding metal into metal. Crosshairs was desperately trying to reach for his weapons, but he couldn’t grab them as his unsteady balance was confusing his whereabouts. “Stupid weak Bot. Can’t even protect your Earth friends. We shall not only bring all of you down, but we will also not stop until every single human is wiped out of existence. We will fight until Lord Megatron’s wishes are served”. “You serve for one Knockout, but we serve for all”. “Pitiful gibberish from a weak-minded spark like yours Crosshairs” He shouted as he grabbed both of the Autobots arms and pulled them backwards splitting the wires out of the socket and making them unusable. “The Autobots will win this war with or without me knockout.” “Well let me clarify something scum, it’s going to be without you”. At this point a laser gun came directly into his face and Knockout chuckled before firing. “I’m sorry” Crosshairs whispered to the floating sub as his head then exploded and shattered into a thousand pieces. “Useless trash. Now where are the…Ah… there they are”. “Captain, he is preparing to fire upon us, what should we do?” The captain looked at the faces of his crew and said nothing. Silence filled the cab and in what felt like slow motion for everyone on board, a hole ripped through the side of the vessel bringing in gallons of water, taking the lives of the brave humans who were trying to save not only their planet, but everyone’s. The submarine became quiet and began to fall and hit the bottom of the ocean floor exploding in on itself. Knockout waved to the burning ball of the crushed sub and flew off to the surface. “Another good day’s work achieved” he said. After breaking through the water, the fight was well underway. The battleships were trying to bring down all the Decepticon fighters, and Optimus Prime was rallying all the troops to make sure no one broke through the ocean to go down and attack their comrades. Little did he know about the death of Crosshairs and the humans on the submarine. “Keep firing on all seekers in the sky. Ignore everything coming through the water, just concentrate on keeping them all away from our mission below”. It was difficult to ignore the sight that the humans were seeing of the mass and size of Unicron. The horns stood at a magnificent height which reached high into the sky and the top of his eyes began to open, each one the same size of the state of California. It was an impossible sight for many who just didn’t want to believe it. Fear and dread consumed even the strongest generals that had seen the worst that earth had to offer. Each eye looked like a new blood moon rising from the sea, consuming much of the daylight that was left. “Jesus how are we ever going to... just Jesus” Lennox said. The head was now halfway out, it consisted of a burnt orange rusted look, with sharp and straight edges throughout. An old Saxon shaped helmet which was the colour of fire fell down the side of his face, and thousands of gallons of water came pouring down from the panels of metal like the Niagara Falls. Unicrons eyes were still. No movement was sensed from the great head. “Keep drilling” Optimus shouted down his communication radio. “We don’t have much more time”. Prime had seen disturbing visions in his life before, but this outweighed all of them put together.
Chapter 8.
Unicron rising.
Unicron had a sinister beauty about him. For thousands of years, he had been hiding away in this rich planet. The Hubble telescope and international space station began to beam back images to all ships to show of how big the structure of Unicron was, and the mass of what they were dealing with. “Optimus, this is captain Lennox aboard battleship Mac three”. Primes eyes lit up a little when he heard his old friend talk. “Captain it is good to hear your voice again. What is your update?” “We have gotten the images that were requested, and everything checks out the way you planned it. We are all in the correct location of the body and if all goes to plan, the explosion surrounding his chest should crack as predicted”. “Thankyou captain. All we can do now is protect the mission. Megatron won’t take too long before he sends reinforcements. Keep the ocean floor as clear as you can of stray Decepticons and good luck”. “Thanks Optimus, we have also been trying to contact sub two on the radio and there is no reply”. “At this moment all we can do is keep trying. We must hope that all is fine with them, but we need to concentrate on the mission each of us have”. While Optimus was speaking many Decepticons were still diving through the ocean floor trying to locate the other rebels. It was a blind dive as nobody knew the exact location of the drillers. The sonars didn’t work too well for the Decepticons below the water and Unicrons presence made all the signals scramble and jolt so no exact location could be pinpointed. Only Knockout had reached one submarine up until now, and that was by pure luck. Many flew back up from the water to the sky and turned one hundred and eighty degrees to dive back down in another area for more surveillance. Whist doing so they dodged fire blasts from the Autobots and the army, smashing through the ocean again with staggering speed.
“Lord Quintesa is ready for you on the hollo screen. “About time” Megatron snarled as he turned and looked at her directly in the eye. “Quintesa. Do not take me as one of your puppets. Prime is alive and here. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN!!” He shouted so loud that the other Decepticons standing next to him shook with fear and terror. “Megatron, my project informed me of how they were going to try and stop Unicron, he never told me Prime and his comrades has landed here. He is a data collector exoskeleton not a spy. It was difficult enough trying to get that human flesh look convincing. He must have thought that we already knew about Prime and the others being here. He was there to collector data and help us defeat the humans, not tell us the leader of the Autobots was alive and on Earth. He doesn’t even understand who Prime is. He understands that Humans are the enemy and will fight them when the time is needed, but he was basically made for one reason and one reason only”. “Really my queen?” he replied as he turned from her. “Well let me inform you that your broken toy may have cost us this war and galaxy!” “He did what he was supposed to do, I thought you would have expected Prime to be here.” “I don’t need to tell you about my war tactics. I just need you to fulfill a job without complications and stupidity. This is where I am superior to you Quintessa, I think ahead, I act with surprise to ease our battle, to… as the humans put it, stab one in the back. Yes, your pet got us the information but forgot, or didn’t realise, to tell us that the information was given directly from Prime’s mouth on Earth! How pathetically stupid can you be to build something with no cause of who the leader of our worst enemy is.” “Megatron, I did what I thought was right. To bring information on how they would go about defeating Unicron, not if Optimus prime was here to stand in your way”. “And you never thought to ask who he was getting this data from?” “I always assumed it was through long communication or human interaction computer files”. “Well, that’s where you were mistaken. DO YOU UNDERSTAND!?” “Megatron, do not threaten me! You may think you have some sort of hold on me but remember who you are talking to”. “Oh, I do, but listen and listen carefully. Never underestimate my reign and never stand in my way of success with these types of foolish errors”. “Well, the next time you have a so-called masterplan don’t forget to share your information with me faithful one”, she snapped back sharply. “Don’t push your luck” Megatron snarled. As the image faded from the screen Megatron bent back, pushed out his arms and roared like an uncontrollable mad man. He left his station and heaved his way out and into the midst of battle. He turned his arm tracker on and even though the interference above the water was bad, it was workable. He moved his arm beam from side to side and around the area three hundred and sixty degrees looking for something amidst the chaos. After surveying for a few micro cycles, he paused when something strange flashed up on his circuits. “Ah there you are” he said as he transformed and moved at an intense speed to be near the front of the battleship, where Paul stood still throwing the dead bodies into the sea. Megatron hovered above and his shape twisted, turned and flipped revealing his terrifying robot mode which came crashing down on the stern rising the ship upwards a little. “Well, it seems like you are making yourself at home among your human enemy. Unfortunately, it’s too late to show your loyalty to the Decepticons”. “I have no idea who you are” Paul shouted “I serve Quintessa. Now my first mission has been completed my only priority now is to kill all humans and anyone that stands in my way to success”. “Oh, I see. Well, let me introduce myself creature” Megatron Said frustrated at the fact that he was unknown to this made bot. “Quintessa may be your master and you may serve her, but I’m sorry to inform you I am her master, and she now serves me”. He aimed his fusion cannon to Paul’s small head with him looking straight down the barrel. Megatron laughed and cackled “I am the way!!” The cannon lit up and sparkled as the energon of the weapon heated up and spun unleashing its full force, taking Pauls head off, and splitting him in two. Parts fell out of him and disintegrated all over the ship floor. Wires burned and a dark fluid started to pour out from him which caught fire leaving no evidence of this so-called spy.
The battle was continuing during Megatrons tantrum and Optimus was managing to bring down some Decepticons while the earth was still shaking. Unicrons head was now almost fully visible. “This is Optimus Prime. How far do you have to go drill team one?” “Prime this is drill team one. We are moving as fast as we can, this plating on Unicron is so tough and thick. We have got to a depth of around four meters in all, and we believe that all the teams around the pacific are at the same point”. “Good work, we are monitoring all the other areas also and have Autobots above to help cope with Decepticon threat”. “This is drill team nine Prime, we could really do with you here big bot. We’ve heard Autobots are falling fast above us, and it looks like we may not hold this site for much longer”. “Team nine this is Optimus; you must hold and be strong with your endeavour. I cannot and must not leave with Megatron here in my location. I will try to bring in more Autobots to help counterattack them”. “Thanks, big guy, we need it”. With that the radio crackled and fell out of range again. “Lord Megatron. Depth of drilling has broken through two miles. Only one site is falling behind, and one has been destroyed”. “That is not good enough Soundwave!” Bring in more seekers to destroy them all. I will deal with these petty humans myself”. Meanwhile, Captain Lennox was trying to gather all the information from the battle and relay it to his superior as quickly as he could. “Update team”. “Captain we have all groups working as fast as they can”. Well, they need to double their efforts, we’re falling behind. We don’t get a second shot at this”. “Yes Sir”. As Lennox was looking out of the ship window, he noticed a figure flying over to them at an alarming rate. “All ships in my area, three o clock! Man your stations and concentrate all fire on the target approaching!” At that second all the ships turned their weapons and fired at the menacing target of Megaton. “Fire at will, I repeat fire at will!” A barrage of shells lit up the sky with everyone missing the Decepticon leader with him performing some clever manoeuvrable tactics. Lennox had a feeling it was Megatron and as he came closer his feeling became reality. “Shit! We need all F 35’s in the area now, bring him down! I repeat we need all F 35’s in our vicinity to unleash upon Megatron! Bring the rein!” Within a few seconds the air force had joined the battle, pinpointing the location of Lennox’s order, dropping a barrage of missiles upon the leader of the Decepticons. As each missile became lower Megatron transformed into his huge alt mode and literally began catching them one by one, throwing them back at the jets flying overhead. Lennox couldn’t believe what he was seeing. Balls of fire began to fill the sky as some pilots ejected from their seats falling to the water burning, their skin crisping up, disintegrating from their bones and muscles. “Filthy human trash. You are no match for me and get what you deserve. I will eat all the flesh of your puny bones for fun when we take your dirty planet!” A tear ran down Lennox’s cheek. In all the battles he had seen between Transformers he had never seen Megatron so angry and committed to take the planet like he was promising to do now. “Your world and Galaxy will be mine. Mine!” As soon as he had finished talking a calming cry arose from a familiar voice to the delight of all who were witnessing this horror. “Not today Megatron, and not ever!” Optimus Prime was finally here and used his booster pack to charge at the blood thirsty tyrant. The crash between them brought together a battle of the ages that had been going on for centuries. Each one was giving everything they could in search of their victory. Punch after punch, bullet after bullet, anger raged between them as the force of each other’s power made them both fall to the ocean floor below. Each one used their thrusters to try and grab one another and bring them up from the water, smashing them into the savage waves with tremendous might, vibrating each other’s spark senseless. “Die Prime! Always in my way. Let me drag your spark out of you and finish you forever! I have given you too many chances to join me in my quest, and for the last time before I kill you, I shall grant you one final offer to end your pitiful attack and join me at my side with Unicron”. Optimus stared into the eyes of his fallen brother and brought back his iron fist bringing it into full collision with Megatron’s face, making his eyes shake inside his circuits and dislodging the wires from his jaw. “You talk too much! Always changing your appearance to try and better yourself. You will never give up until you take what you think is rightfully yours. Well, it isn’t. I will never join forces with you and Unicron, and I will not rest until both of you are destroyed for the survival of all! “You have no idea Prime. Trying to bring down Unicron with this feeble attempt only makes me cringe at the fact that I used to once respect you. Your army is and will always be weak. As soon as he rises your time, along with all these maggots, will be over.
Chapter 9.
Megatron’s Fight.
The ocean was continuing to be a raging war with the Autobots, Decepiticons and humans. As the sun began to dip below the horizon, fire and arsenal were continuing to light up the sky, and the seekers were still crashing through the water trying to find the submarines. Unicrons head was starting to move, and the great giant was awakening from his slumber. The horns that had been seen throughout Earth were only tiny sharp spike tentacles that had come out of his body, a little like human hair over the skin. Lennox could see directly in front of him that Optimus and Megatron were continuing to fight. He turned to his crackling radio. “I want ships to fire at Megatron on my word. We need to help Prime. Be careful only fire if you have a clear shot. Do not hit Optimus! I repeat clear shot only!” Everyone who had a target radioed back confirming. “FIRE!” Came the call. The cannons ejected and caught Megatron off guard, hitting his body making him stumble away from Prime in a ball of smoke. Optimus looked over at the ships helping him, contemplating whether these shots had taken him out for good. His answer came quickly as he spotted Megatron laughing, while spitting out a quarter of his sharp metallic teeth. He rose through the smoke burnt and shamed but not defeated. An ancient scream bellowed out of him as he transformed in a split second, taking off to the direction of one of the ships that was closest to him. “No Megatron!” Prime screamed as he tried to follow. The speed of Megatron increased and broke the speed of sound, yet again he roared with anger. “Yes Optimus. OH YES!!” He shouted as he unleashed his weapon into the bow of Lennox’s ship, destroying it in seconds. The explosion was so great that all who were in sight of the ship took note of what had just happened. “LENNOX!!” Optimus cried out. “Oh Prime, you are so pathetic, missing one of your pets already? You are no match for me. If you want me? try and keep up, I have a war to win that doesn’t include you”. Spitting out another sharp tooth he smiled at was once his friend and blasted off to the sky. “Bumblebee report to me at once”. Bumblebee acknowledged his leader straight away and used his Cybertronian made jet skis (specifically scanned for this event). His feet tucked under into his legs as each stump shot out two long thin skis with booster packs attached to each end helping him travel across water at high speed. As he raced, he bounced off the waves and dodged shots from Decepticons above finally making his destination in front of Optimus. “Bumblebee, Captain Lennox, our old comrade, has been killed by Megatron and many of the humans have been destroyed. We must now at this time plant the explosive devices into the holes we’ve made in Unicron for any chance of winning this war. Even with us here it seems that Megatron has the upper hand. I am afraid he still may contain fragments of dark energon given to him, like me, from Quintessa. Remember the time I battled you for the staff of Merlin?” Bumblebee turned away from him and spoke “I don’t want to remember that time Optimus”. “Even so, with my will of wanting to part with it, I pulled that evil force out of my body with your help of again speaking to me for the first time in many years. Megatron would never give this up. He would fight hard to keep it within his spark. That’s why I believe he has harnessed this powerful strength inside him, made it grow and connected to it in an unstable but destructive way”. “How do you know this?” Because he just survived a blast from the humans biggest military weapons. With an impact like I just saw, even the strongest Transformer would not be able to get up and just walk away like he did. Also, Unicron seems to be reacting to him in a trance like wake-up stage. Even though we thought it would take longer, I have a strong feeling that time has almost run out”. “What should we do then Optimus?” “We must tell all the submarines to insert and blow the bombs now while I move my attention to try and slow down, or even destroy Megatron”. “Understood sir” Bumblebee said. “To all ships, humans and Autobots. This is an urgent message from Optimus Prime. We have heard some grave news about Megatron, and the mission is at a critical point. We must strike now if we are to achieve any chance of success. We do not know Megatron’s next move, and it appears he is under the influence of dark energon. Stop drilling and plant the bombs now! There is no more time, Unicron is rising faster than anticipated!” The conversation turned to the submarines trying to relay information to Bee that they were not deep enough, and it would be useless to try and succeed at the depth they have drilled into Unicrons armour. “Listen everyone. I understand your frustration but if Optimus tells us now, it must be Now! The tide of this war has changed, and we must adapt to the situation.“ “Understood Bee” came the call from the submarines “If Prime thinks it’s the right thing to do we must at least try and follow his judgment. Ok guys we’ve got our orders, lets blow this bastard up!” Each Autobot opened a panel on the tip of their finger and slid out an all-spark blue capsule. They held it gingerly between their huge fingers pinching it slightly, not to crack or break it, and placed it gently into the holes that had been drilled. The capsules fitted snuggly inside and got pushed in further by a long metallic rod which came out from each bot’s finger. After serval minutes of waiting for all the micro size holes to be plugged, each area relayed the same statement “Locked and loaded!” Hound radioed to all submarines “Get to the surface, don’t forget to set the timers”. With that call each bot and sub slowly began to lift upwards and rise from the pit of darkness where they had been for hours. The force of Unicron’s strength was still rising slowly and the plates of the Earth shifting made the journey much more terrifying than the one they had encountered on the way down. The Autobots were holding on to the vehicles and gave their all to help everybody get up to the surface in safety. When they breached, they came out onto a sea of turmoil. Unicron’s head was slowly moving from side to side shifting waves in all directions, making tower size water cannons crash down upon top of them all. Fire blasts were coming from everywhere, continuing to rain in the dark sky. “Optimus” Hound radioed in. “Bombs to explode in less than a micro cycle”. “Understood” came the reply as yet again Prime had found out the whereabouts of Megatron and the battle continued. Prime was getting the full rath of his fallen brothers’ anger, as he kept getting smashed in the head at full force. It took all of his will to take the fist of Megatron out of his beaten face and he turned to the Decepticon leader to speak. “It’s too late Megatron, we have succeeded”. With doing so he turned off his booster pack that was keeping him in the air let go of Megatron and fell to the ocean floor. “It’s never too late Prime” he said, transforming into his jet mode following him down to the water below. Just as Optimus was about to crash, Stratosphere, the huge cargo plane that deployed Prime in Shanghai to defeat Demolisher, came flying steadily over the water making Optimus’ small hand (compared with stratosphere’s size) connect with the left wing dragging him up and away from the abyss. “Great catch Prime”. “Thank you Stratosphere, Right place, right time”. “You bet Optimus. I’ve been waiting for you to return so I can start to kick some butt. I’ve been unable to transform for a while and have been in hiding whilst I sorted this issue out. Luckily that day was today”. “The Prime’s are with us Stratosphere; your return must have been written. I am sorry but I must say that I believe the time is now upon you. You have the size to bring Megatron down and we need you at this dark time, I ask for your hand in battle. But before you give me your answer Stratosphere, be warned, he is filled with dark energon which means this fight will be much more difficult for you. The danger will be present and all your skill as a great warrior will be needed. You must be patient and make each move count”. “I understand Optimus. I believe that my size gives us an advantage over Megatron, and I know sir that you give me this fight with a heavy spark, but under the circumstances, I believe it’s the only way we can move forward. I will bring Megatron down with your blessing Optimus.” Prime placed his trust in Stratosphere and understood he had put him in great danger. When he asked to be dropped off on to the bow of the ship, (which Stratosphere had scanned the whereabouts before) he felt a guilt that made him question his leadership. “I am sorry, I cannot ask you to put yourself in danger, I must continue to take the battle to Megatron myself”. “Sorry boss, this is my fight now. I fight for the humans, and all of Cybertron,” and with that he turned to face the upcoming rage of Megatron. As Stratosphere flew up to meet the Leader of the Decepticons Megatron turned to look at Optimus standing on the stern of the ship “Prime. Weak Prime, pathetic Prime, don’t even have the courage to face me yourself”. “Why would he Lord stupid when I can kick your arse with his and the Autobots blessing?” Stratosphere began to transform and unfolded his long wings and his lanky legs out of the underbelly of the plane. His huge hands came outwards from the side of the hatch and his head rose up sliding into view revealing a grey tone which complimented the whole of his robot body, twenty times the size of” Lord stupid”. The Decepticon leader moved at speed trying to get out of the way of the brutal swings that were heading in his direction. Optimus couldn’t pay much attention to the battle as he was busy informing all the Autobots and humans in the area to move away from the blast zone as quickly as possible. He felt like an unjust hero putting Stratosphere in the battle with Megatron, but with Megatron the way he was, it was a huge advantage to have Stratosphere here at this time. Optimus needed this help to ease the amount of weight, which was being put on everyone’s shoulders, including his own. He hoped his decision of asking his friend was the correct one. After the retreat messages flooded all the ships, the humans and bots began to turn away and leave the scene heading in a new direction. Not everybody was happy they were leaving earlier than expected, and a lot of uncertainty was creeping into their heads about the decision to blow early on Unicron. They had all worked so hard up until this moment and now a retreat plan was being used much more rapidly than anyone was anticipating. “Move as fast as you can it’s going to blow!” Optimus shouted. The Decepticons were still firing and trying to take out as many bots and humans as possible, some missing their targets and others succeeding, taking down more men and boats. Meanwhile across the water Stratosphere and Megatron were locked in battle. Stratosphere managed to grab Megatron by his throat, after many efforts had been previously unsuccessful. He squeezed his huge hand around him making The Decepticon leader spasm throughout his body. “I’ve got you now, and I’m not letting go!” Megatron turned his eyes to face him. “HA… HA… HA…. You are so foolish; I am full of dark Energon! it’s impossible to destroy me maggot!” “Oh really?” came the response from the Autobot as he turned one hundred and eighty degrees and began to use his cargo plane engine thrusters to plummet down to the ocean floor. “Well, Megatron, it looks like it’s my lucky day” he shouted as the sound of the wind and engine screeched through both of their optics, as they shot downwards at an incredible speed. They both smashed into the water making a barrage of waves spray into the air. “NO!” Optimus shouted, as he turned to see the water rise up from the impact of his comrade and worst enemy. “Bumblebee, keep moving. Everyone take cover. IT’S GOING TO BLOW!!!!!” At that very moment a dull vibration could be heard and felt from underneath all that were in the Pacific. Everybody stopped and looked at each other hoping they had moved out of the blast zone far enough. A huge roar followed, and a colossal mushroom cloud of water and electric blue smoke filled the sky. As the Decepticons tried to retreat, the brace call came from all the ships, as the wall of water tumbled down knocking and rocking everyone all over the place. Many boats flipped and some Autobots got swept away, taking them down below the ocean making them swim up through the confusion, to try and help those that had subsided. Many of the submarines and battleships were cracked and letting in tons of water. Soldiers who gave their life for the cause were drowning. “PRIME!” Bee shouted. “I think it’s over, Megatron and Unicron, they must be dead”. Trying to take in what had just happened and knowing it was his call to blow the explosives early, causing the deaths of many, would haunt him till the end of his days. He knew deep down it was the only chance of survival as Unicron was waking faster than anticipated, but it still didn’t hurt any less. “Prime, Megatron and Unicron are dead, we’ve won!” With Bumblebee saying this to him he turned to his left and saw the long thick sheet metal of Unicrons head shake slowly from side to side, water spilling off him thousands of gallons at a time. Part of his mouth could be seen in the far distance from Optimus. It opened widely and a voice came out that was foreign to the Autobots and Decepticons who had never heard the likes of this before. It sent shockwaves through the air as Bumblebee turned to Prime to ask what the sound was. Optimus replied, “That sound is one of the ancient languages of a far-off galaxy, even unreachable by Cybertronians. It has never been heard of by any Transformer until this day and we have only ever read about the legend of this voice. The primes have been studying it for years through the archives and now it brings itself upon us. “Optimus!!” Bee shouted impatiently, “The sound we can all hear is that of Unicron! He still lives and has called upon his awakening. He has now spoken of the chaos he will lay upon everyone. No one shall stand in his way. No one will touch the source of his greatness. He is the mighty and indestructible UNICRON!”
Chapter 10.
Air force one and the coming prime.
Optimus looked away and called to the others, desperately still trying to steer clear of the terror. “Come in, this is Optimus Prime, can you confirm that Unicron is still rising? Has the mission been a failure?” “We’re still gathering the data Prime, but from all the readings your prediction is right. It looks like we have failed! Unicron lives and is still breaking through. There is no split on the surface of him anywhere. It’s been a complete disaster!” Optimus looked down and the rare look of discomfort filled his face. “Then we must leave. We can do no more at this time, we must regroup”. “Optimus” Hound said”. We are getting an incoming transmission from air force one. It seems they are very close to our coordinates and they’re coming in fast”. “Understood” Prime said and turned to contact Broadside via telecommunications. “Broadside come in, this is Optimus, move out to the coordinates that I gave you before. Move swiftly and stay clear of any Decepticons in the vicinity as much as you possible can”. A static response came over, fuzzy but just audible. “You got it boss”. “Air force one, this is Optimus. We have your destination recorded please keep on the path that you are on. Autobot assistance is on hand”. As the message came through Tim couldn’t hold back his concern. “I know I said we need to trust him, but now were getting closer, I mean what the hell is Primes plan, just fly into a war path?” He went into the cock pit of the plane to speak to the pilots who were fighting against the elements to keep this huge city on wheels in the air.” Yes sir” they both said in unison. Even under these conditions it was still an honour when the president spoke to you. “Look guys, this could be it. Guide us as calmly as you can over the path where prime wants us. Take a breath and be prepared. You guys have trained for this, this is your time understood?” “Yes sir!” As soon as they had finished talking, and Tim was moving back towards his seat, a huge blast rocked the plane, and everyone jolted to the left. Tim hadn’t got back to his seat in time and smashed into to the celling, falling back down on his arm breaking it at the elbow. Sheer and utter pain shot through him as he let out a tremendous scream, which couldn’t be heard above the other passengers who were screaming themselves. Before he knew it, his eyes closed, and his limp body lay on the floor just outside the cockpit. “Shit!” The captain shouted. “Quick, strap him into this spare seat, hurry, we may get hit again”. The co-pilot undid his belt and stumbled over to Tim. He grabbed him by the legs and dragged him into the cockpit using all his strength to secure the President into the spare seat. He checked his pulse and looked at the floppy arm which had a sharp bone sticking out of the elbow. “It looks like a clean break; the good thing is he can’t feel the pain for now thank God”. “Well, that’s good news” the captain said with a sarcastic look on his face. “But if you don’t hurry back to your seat and help me fly this plane, we are all going to be feeling some pain soon.” “Sorry Captain” The co-pilot quickly understood the urgency and stumbled back to his seat strapping in. “Ok, the left engines on fire, it looks like we’ve been fired upon by one of those Decepticon planes, and fuel is falling drastically which means so are we”. “So, what’s the plan captain?” “Plan? The only plan and option we have is to hold this plane up as long as we can, and hope rescue is on the way like the president said”. Broadside came to his designated area and stopped where he had been given the coordinates. If he wasn’t a Transformer, he would have looked like another ship floating in the ocean. The only thing that gave it away was that Broadside was in the vicinity where the explosion had taken place, and the ocean around this area was now like hell on Earth. “Optimus, I’m in position, and just to let you know…” He stopped in horror looking side to side in awe. ” I can see Unicron’s head stretching for miles in front of me. It’s a very unstable area I need to move quickly”. “Understood, take care, and as soon as you have made contact with the plane move away from the area with haste”. Air force one was falling drastically and everyone on board knew that the time had come, to hope and pray for whatever plan Optimus had put in place. “Warning! Warning! Pull Up! Pull Up! “Came the computers voice as the jet fell even closer towards the pacific. It tilted to its left and began to fly over a piece of Unicrons head. All the passengers, who were already in terror could not believe what they were seeing out of their windows. Stacks upon stacks, miles upon miles, of metallic structure that was placed upon top of each other. It felt like they had already died and gone to hell. All the oxygen masks fell from the ceiling as the pilots told everybody to brace for impact as they made one last call to Optimus. “If you’re going to help Prime, the time is now”. Optimus could see the plane coming down in front of Unicron’s glass eye that spanned for what seemed like an eternity. “Air force one, turn your engine off and glide. You must slow as much as you can and be prepared for a sudden impact. Everybody brace…, Now Broadside!” Within seconds Broadside moved into place shifting and sliding parts of his ship that wrapped around each other. Huge fingers began to fill metallic stumps which folded out making enormous hands. The front of the ship collapsed, and dominos of metal fell into itself making the big bots head. His legs sprouted out from beneath him while he rose from the seabed Like a champion. Upon his shoulder, the ships radar and missile canons had hints of red and sliver displayed throughout itself, while his main colour consisted of a gun grey. As his structure rose higher into the sky, the chest of Broadside breathed inwards as he pinpointed air force one in mid-air. He opened his fingers, and as the plane fell towards him, he caught it between both hands. The passengers shook in their seats as the giant hand clasped the shell making the view horrifying as they all prayed they would make it to live another day. Making sure he applied no pressure, he held it securely as he came falling back down, hitting the water but keeping his arms well above the sea level. More screams filled the cab of the plane as they bobbed slightly on the ocean. Broadside rocked side to side trying to keep it as steady as he could until the emergency floats were deployed, helping it stay above the water by itself. In the whole of human existence nothing could have compared with what had been witnessed here today by everyone. The sheer pinpoint accuracy that Broadside had taken was an impossible task for any earthling. No one would ever believe them that this rescue had happened, it was like something from a science fiction novel. An impossible mission that had saved the lives of everybody on the plane. Whilst transforming back into battleship mode, the hull of him opened and three small Autobot ships came out and raced over to the emergency playing out. Each leader began to climb out of the plane and slide down the float boarding the Autobot mini ships, each country helping the other. Never in history would anybody have imagined the British prime minister helping the Afghanistan President board a boat in a rescue mission together. Even though the world felt like it was dying it also had a new beauty about it. But it wasn’t the Earth itself giving off that beauty, it was the people.
After boarding and moving out on Broadside they began to move away from the head of Unicron. It was only now that they could see the size of the evil menace they were dealing with. Speed increased and soon they were at a safe distance. Everybody began to breathe and take stock on what had just happened. Optimus checked in with everybody who was aboard via radio and thanked them all for their bravery. He told Broadside that the act of bravery he had taken to save air force one would never be forgotten by the Autobots or humans. But Optimus still looked uneasy as he turned his head to think. He couldn’t believe what had happened with Unicron. All the fear that he had been speculating about with the President would now happen without doubt, unless he could come up with a masterful solution. “Optimus are you ok?” Bumblebee said. Prime looked at him, and even though it was impossible for him to shed a tear, Bee knew something was wrong with his oldest companion. “Over the years my friend I have always been honest to you, and even under these circumstances I still will never lie to you Bumblebee. No, I am not ok. Now with the failure of the explosives inside Unicron, I have no idea what our next move should be. I know with this failure we have brought about the extinction of Earth and Cybertron”. “But Optimus we can’t just give up. Not after all this!” “I am sorry, but I have tried to give everything I have to bring Unicron down, but I don’t believe we have anymore solutions. We must surrender to our fate”. “Optimus NO! How can you talk like that? You are a Prime and always will be. Speak inside to your predecessors. Use the Matrix to ask them for help”. “The power of the primes cannot not help me now. We need physical motives, and the primes can only guide us. we just don’t have the time.”” Optimus this isn’t like you. You Are Optimus Prime. We need you. Without you we…” Bee fell silent, not sure what else to say. Prime stopped and started running thoughts through his circuits. “You need…ME!” He said and looked at Bumblebee again. “You may have stumbled across something that we could have a slim chance with”. Meanwhile, the president started to stir on the bed in the ward of the ship. He had been given two shots of morphine and awoke very drowsy, his arm in plaster and strapped up. “What happened? asked Tim as one of the doctors came around the bed to fill him in on the amazing events that had occured while he was out cold. As they were talking monitors throughout the ship flashed and Optimus came on to the screen. An unsteady picture flashed on and off before becoming more solid. Everyone in the ward stood up to attention except Tim who had the look of a drunken man on his face”. To all surviving Autobots and humans. It is with grave news I come to you to let you know that Unicron has survived the blast field, and our plan of destruction has failed. We have no other option but to retreat and move back to land. Megatron has fallen. It looks as though he also took a great comrade of ours with him. Stratosphere fought for all to bring down the leader of the Decepticons. He will be remembered as a hero and a brave warrior. But we have more we need to do, or more I now need to do. It has come to my senses that any outside conflict with Unicron from human or Autobot soldiers is a fallen endeavour. But I am no ordinary Autobot. I AM A PRIME!” Bumblebee turned his head with a concerned and confused look while everybody else hung on to every word he was saying. “As a prime I am gifted with the power of the Matrix. A raw power. Handed down to me by the Primes that came before. It was a true friend who you all knew of, Sam Whitwicky, that brought this matrix to me after I had succumbed to Megatron once before. The power of the Matrix has always been inside of me in some form, but the physical existence of this artifact was given to me to grant me life as Optimus Prime not Orion Pax. With me now holding a physical matrix inside me, the power of this mystical strength can be drained and used to hurt and maybe even bring down the chaos bringer himself.” “Optimus how can this be? Unicron is just too big”. “Not if I open the matrix inside him Bumblebee. You need my spark and power inside to kill him!” “What? Optimus No! if you do this the raw power from the explosion in there would kill you!” “I understand my friend, but I have no other option, I must at least try. I just cannot stand back and pass this opportunity up to save our planets”. “No Optimus, there must be another way!” “If there is one, we don’t have the time to sit back and wait for that to arise, I must act now!” Tim was awake again but weak and asked for his security to pass him the radio so he could talk to Optimus. “Prime, this is Tim. We have heard your plea and want to express our thanks for your bravery on what you are planning to do. We as a nation and a world stand by your decision. You have our full backing whatever it takes to take this son of a bitch out”. Optimus looked around at everyone in his presence and back to all watching eagerly on the screen. “It is my duty and honour to work for all who believe in freedom and peace, and I will give my life for what is right”. Without your leadership Prime, I couldn’t have been the leader I tried to be, we will miss you. Goodluck and god speed my friend” The president dropped the radio and collapsed falling back into his bed, sweat dripping from his pale face. “Now, anybody who didn’t have faith in Optimus, I think it’s about time you retracted your thoughts. Hopefully he will be the saviour of us all”.
Bee grabbed Primes arm, “Optimus please, they don’t understand, they don’t know how important you are to us. We need you to lead us. Please don’t sacrifice yourself, we can’t lose you”. He held his hand and spoke to him with courage and pride “I do understand, and I am sorry it has had to come to this, but the humans cannot lose their home and we must not lose ours. This is the only way Bumblebee. I must become one with the Primes and Matrix. The spark inside my being is telling me that this is my destiny. It has been a privilege to serve all of you, and when future generations look back at this moment, tell them I had a duty to see through this mission and I am always looking over them on Cybertron. Optimus started up his jet boosters and surged into the air to fight a battle for the freedom of all. “Goodbye my friend” he said whilst becoming less visible in the sky “OPTIMUS!!” the lone yellow robot screamed from below as not only his leader, but mentor and pal rose to fight the battle of his life.
Chapter11.
Good vs Evil.
Optimus circled around a small part of Unicrons head, seeing if he could find a weak spot to enter. Even for a huge robot like Prime, the sheer size made him feel uncomfortable as he felt like the size of a flea next to a giant. The closer he became to Unicron he could make out ancient panel lines and lithograph text even he was unsure of. The metal looked sharp and edgy, and the texture blistered with a thick rust and soot looking substance. As Unicron slowly turned his head again prime released that there was only one possible way into the giant that stood before him. He flew away and turned to face one of the enormous eyes. He powered up his boosters to full force and started to move at great speed towards the shiny wall of glass that stood in front of him. Firing all his weapons, the bullets penetrated the socket, helping him smash through the lens of Unicrons eye cracking it into thousands of pieces. Each one fell like crystal rain drops reflecting the sun on it, which was beginning to rise for a new day over the ocean. The mighty Unicron screamed with anger, the sound alone resembling Armageddon itself and what seemed like a certain call of demise. As soon as Prime had penetrated the eye, he saw a barbaric, harrowing sight. Inside the head was a foul, disgusting filthy, gooey mess. Germ alien substances seemed to be present all over the inner panels and workings of the monster. The sound of machines running their systems filled the chamber with a barrage of metallic noises, as a Smokey atmosphere brought steam to Primes working eye. Panels hanging off the inside of Unicron’s head had large tubes containing poisonous gases and fluid travelling through many miles of pipes strung up over the inner workings. It was cold, ice cold and the colour which was present consisted of a dire black and brown. There was no gleam of positivity, just a hell world inside the mind of a maniac that wanted everything for itself. Prime landed on one of the pipes and stood in the centre of the head trying to quickly gather his thoughts. He reached to his chest and pressed it inwards to let the panels slide into themselves to reveal the great Matrix of leadership! The small dim light began to grow inside his torso as Unicron, at that moment realised the pesticide was stuck inside him and began to shake his head trying to get rid of the thing that had entered his body. Prime slipped from the greasy pipe and tumbled, falling off the sharp edge of a platform. Luckily, he caught one of the gas pipes and holding on to it with all his strength, he swung back and forth starting to lose his grip on the sticky substance which coated it. “I AM UNICRON! I FORBID YOU!” The germy liquid itself started to get hold of Optimus and slide upon his legs and arms making it difficult for him to move. “YOU ARE NO ONE. I AM AND WILL ALWAYS BE. YOU SHALL DIE LIKE ALL BEFORE WHO TRIED TO DEFEAT ME! The voice shattered Optimus’s ears screeching through him, sending him into a semi-conscious state. Every ounce of his leadership and being had brought him to this moment, and he had to hold on and do what he was born to do. “WHO ARE YOU!” Unicron cried with anger. Optimus paused from swinging and with his final breath of energon reached inside his chest with his free hand, grabbing the matrix bringing it above his head and screaming. “I AM OPTIMUS PRIME!” He let go of the pipe which made himself and the matrix both tumble down into an endless pit. Prime brought out his weapon and made the greatest shot of his life, not against a physical enemy, but the very thing that gave him his greatness and leadership. The matrix! As the perfect shot hit the middle of the ancient artefact, a heavenly white glow penetrated out of it which filled the whole of Unicrons head with a beautiful golden Hume. It was like time had stood still in a blanket of golden white and then it happened. Each separate panel began to peel away and burst open; each sheet of thick burnt metal began to fall. Light appeared through cracks and rips of the mighty Tyrant as he began to slowly crumble into scrap iron, flaking away piece by piece. Tiny explosions rocked the shattering head side to side and many of the horns that portrayed the grandness of his structure came crashing down, opening whole areas that began to shine light through. The sun hit the destruction of the giant making the whole experience look somewhat poetic and beautiful. Before long there was no more than a few miles of rust and debris that were piled high upon top of Unicrons dead body that still went deep below to the Earth’s core. Prime had done it!
After the carnage of destruction ended, the sea became calm and motionless. All that could be seen was wreck and ruin floating upon the ocean. Nothing was recognisable in the rubble and only a few twisted shards of metal bobbed before beginning to submerge, except for one thing, the head of Optimus prime. His eyes were black and the life from him had now gone back to the well of all sparks. The face plate was gone, and half of his head had been ripped off, exposing part of his main circuitry. Dust of metallic particles that lay around the area began to sink and in doing so began to combine just like it had done before in Egypt. The matrix of leadership, for a second time, was becoming whole again. Slowly moving downwards, it made all the debris around the ocean form a sinkhole in which Optimus’ head fell into it. The matrix and the fallen leader of the Autobots fell into a darker and darker abyss together, until both finally touched the murky bottom of the pacific. Lying next to each other they would both be forever a solid reminder of the war that had taken place, and the sacrifices that were made not only by the humans for planet Earth, but also their alien friends.
Epilogue.
Three months had passed and in the city of Paris thousands of people gathered at the site of the Eiffel Tower that had fell during one of the earthquakes that had ravaged the planet. A huge cloth covered statue stood next to a wooden stage decked out with flags of the world, including the new ‘one world flag’ of all nations, flying high and proud next to a red Autobot one. Many sat waiting patiently for the President whilst balloons of all colours filled the air and music came out of the speakers surrounding the guests. Everybody there was dancing and had party hats on with colourful flashing bracelets and necklaces. The queue to the hot dog stands were long and all the home-made lemonade had already sold out. It looked a little like New York on new years eve. The whole atmosphere was electric, and everybody was high on life. The music died down and a huge raptor of applause and cheering erupted throughout the area when the President finally arrived on to the stage. “Thank you, thank you, please… Thankyou”. The crowd began to quieten down, and Tim moved towards the microphone to talk to the awaiting spectators his arm still strung up. “Thank you all. It has been over three months since the world as we know changed forever. Now the truth at long last has been released to everyone out there. With what we were facing over the past few months, we can only hope for your forgiveness in not telling you sooner of the battle we had ahead. Since we have now come out and spoken to you all about the truth, we thank you for your support and hard work in yet again building our planet to a sustainable future. Even here in Paris people are coming together as one to help their fellow neighbour, and never in my life have I seen the decency and commitment of every single human being. But…”. He paused to make sure everyone was listening to what his next words would be. “We must just not praise ourselves. We need to recognise the heroism and courage of our friend’s that have been with us for many years… The Autobots”. A huge cheer erupted as everybody rose from their seats and applauded. “It is because of them that we are alive and free. If you would all like to turn around, we have a representative of their race here with us today, Bumblebee please give us all a wave.” Everyone turned to see the yellow Camaro transform from its stunning car mode into the great scout of the Autobots. He waved quickly looking very sheepish and embarrassed but still proud that his friends from Cybertron were now getting the praise that they deserved. “While the Autobots are moving the remains of the fallen Unicron to fix their battered home planet, please be aware that peace is still not fully present there and we have offered to help them with whatever needs they may require. In closing I’d like to share a moment to remember a true Friend of us all. Someone who believed in freedom and justice. He sacrificed his life to save us all and we must never forget the true leadership of the great ’Optimus Prime”. At this moment ten F 35s flew overhead in perfect formation and the covers slid off the huge statue standing there. It was a beautiful gold representation of Optimus, crafted by all the great artist of the world. It was a statue even fit for the halls of Iacon on Cybertron. But this one belonged on Earth. For thousands of years people would come here to pay tribute to the great Optimus Prime, who was much more than just a robot in disguise.
