Chapter 1
“Freeze!” A young Mabel shouted in her dreams, holding a long stick that resembled a gun in her tiny shaky hands. Streaks of rain spat on her face, her tiny figure hiding behind a car as she looks around the tall building which looked like it was about to collapse.
A roar of laughter boomed across the building, making Mabel shriek with fear holding onto the stick for dear life. Two old men come walking slowly towards her with a stack of money in each hand clearly they have robbed the place. One came rather close to the young girl causing Mabel to step back, trying to remain calm and collected.
“Shouldn’t you be at home, little girl?” The bald man crouched down to her height, messing with her wet hair making the water droplets fall from her hair. Mabel could hear the faint sounds of the police sirens coming her way but her attention was towards the two thieves.
Mabel playfully smiles bouncing the stick in her hands before looking at the bald man. Looking at him straight in the eye, the smile was now replaced with a smirk. She leaned into his left ear and let out a small,
“Nope but I think you two will find a new home soon”
The two older men had a frown on their face, their eyebrows furrowed with confusion. Mabel looked up seeing a group of police creeping up towards the two burglars before handcuffing them, causing the two men to drop the money that was in their hands. Every police officer apart from one left with the now prisoners.
The head of the department walked over to the young girl who looked quite chuffed with the work she had done. The police offer holds out his hand, indicating for a shake. Mabel took the handshake with pride and smiled at the adult.
“You did a very good job, young girl. C’mon, let me take you home” The officer announced taking the young girl back down to the police car, asking for her address before heading off.

That dream was around 10 years ago. Mabel is now 18 years old, at this age, she would be finding a job that her parents wanted to pursue but no.
She is now at university, finishing her final year of police work. She volunteers down her local police station not only to help the officers when they need more help but as well for work experience for her dream job.
It was a cold breezy day. Mabel was sat by her desk finishing off her essay, sighing with relief as she types the final words before saving and turning in the work. She looks up from her laptop to capture the sun setting behind the caramelized leaves that were on the brinks of leaving the tree that was in front of the sun.
Autumn time is Mabels favourite season; the way the chilly breeze would lightly brush away the curls away from her face, the rosy cheeks dusted on her face when it gets cold during the morning or night, or just wanting to settle down and watch a movie whilst having a hot chocolate with marshmallow and whipped cream.
When Mabel wasn’t corrupted with Uni work, she would go undercover and help the police when catching the bad guys. Today was not that day. In fact, she was so busy she didn’t see an important email that could change her life. In a good way and bad way.
Mabel was about to close her laptop until she heard a notification of an email pop up. She furrows her eyebrows with confusion as she wonders the mouse towards the email and opens it,
“Dear Mabel Love,
We were informed by your local police station that you are very hard working and always wanted to work to be a secret agent. As the world is a very mysterious planet, we want to help those in danger and get the bad ones in prison and make them wish they do not commit those crimes ever again.
This is why we are giving you a 6-week trial to see if you are capable of working for the Secret Spy Agency. You will be introduced to the team that will guide you throughout everything. From identifying the smallest details to finding who the person is and how they got away with things etc.
Please give this a think before replying back. We hope to expect an email from you soon.
Sincerely,
Secret Spy Agency”
Shock wouldn’t be the word that Mabel was feeling inside. Her heart was beating 100mph as she rereads the email over and over again. Her ultimate dream was to be in that agency and the fact she had an email to say they are giving her an offer to show her skills made her excited but also terrified.
What if she wasn’t good enough? What if the team won’t like her? She shakes her head, trying to get rid of the negative thoughts in her head. She replies enthusiastically to the email confirming she would like the place. Despite being around 8pm that night, she had a response that night back with the place and time of the interview.
Mabel squeals with excitement before closing her laptop down with a big grin on her lips. She jumps onto her freshly made bed before kicking her leg in the air whilst screaming into her pillow. She couldn’t quite believe it.
Reaching over to her phone to set her alarm for tomorrow, she puts her phone in charge as she gets ready for bed. As she tucks herself into bed, she can’t help but think about the pros and cons of taking upon this opportunity. She wonders what her parents will say, her friends.
“Tomorrow is going to be a busy day”
