Chapter 1 : Nameless

I looked at my naked body in the large mirror of my dressing table, as I brushed out my long black hair. My thick dark hair covered the top of my buttocks. I never thought about myself as sexy. I never cared for it, but my breasts were looking good right now. My body has changed. Last year, my breasts were a little smaller and I felt like a plank. My body had no shape. I was as thin as a rake. Now that my body was taking shape, I was beginning to feel good about myself. I put on my nightgown and slipped into bed. I'd sleep naked occasionally when the nights were hot. I had to go into work tomorrow. I worked at a bank. All I had to do was complete some transactions, sit in front of the computer for hours and pretend I liked it. My boss wasn't that bad, though he raises his voice a lot. Susan was the wannabe manager that often got on my nerves. Kathryn (or Kathy, as I call her), was my only friend at work who kept screwing with guys and ended up breaking her own heart, when she knew those men weren't good for her. Kathy and I have a friend Steve. We call him "Stevie" as he prefers. He occasionally wore dresses and high heels with makeup to work. He isn't transitioning or anything. He just loved the idea of being an attractive man who looked better than most women in their clothing. I tossed and turned in my bed, unable to sleep as thoughts of my job rushed into my head. It wasn't that stressful, until Susan starts drama. I almost slapped her once. I was almost fired twice this year because of her. I got up to drink a glass of water and went back to bed. I closed my eyes and finally started drifting off.

"Nana! Get up, get up! You're going to be late for work!" My mother yelled.

I covered my ears and got up with a hiss. I was still very tired, to be honest.

"Thank you, Mama." She smiled at me and went downstairs.

I got dressed, brushed my teeth, tied my hair into a big messy bun and had some coco sharkies cereal for breakfast. I adjusted my large glasses and picked up my black messenger back. I hugged my mother goodbye before walking to work, which was five blocks away. I didn't mind walking unless it was raining. I went inside the building and Stevie was already there. "You were almost late, Nanashi" yes, that's right. My name was Nanashi which translates to "Nameless" I asked my mother why she called me that, she said it's because she didn't really have a name for me and she thought "Nameless" was cool. Imagine if I had to go to Japan, they'd probably laugh at me if I was still on school. Maybe it's good I didn't grow up there as a child. Everyone calls me "Nana" for short. Kathy came and gave me a hug. "Just in time, you were almost late again."

"I know, I'm almost always late." We went into the computer room together. Stevie handled calls, often got the door and coffee for of us who worked here. Kathy and I sat almost next to each other, a little more across each other. I loved to personalize everything. I got Hello Kitty stickers in the corners of my computer. I had a Sailor Moon cat action figure and a couple of dinosaur figures on my desk.
