The art of seduction
CHELSLYS' POINT OF VIEW
The blaring sound of my alarm attempts to awake me from my sweet slumber but I refuse to accept its call as I reach over to it and press the snooze button without opening my eyes. I deserve five more minutes of peaceful sleep. I’m Chelslys Venus Banks, a 23-year-old resident of New York City. The city where dreams come true. At least that’s what everyone says. That’s the main reason I moved here from my small town of Davenport. To make my dreams come true. I wouldn’t say I’ve accomplished this in the two years that I’ve lived here but I can at least say I’m on the right path. My dream is to own a very successful fashion house. My current profession, a personal assistant. I know what you’re thinking, being a personal assistant has nothing to do with fashion but the pay is pretty hefty. To be honest, this job is the only reason I can even afford my lavish apartment. Apartments in NYC cost an arm and a leg. My place of work, KING INDUSTRIES. One of the most successful companies in New York. I’m really grateful to be working there.
Do you ever get that feeling when you’re sleeping and something keeps telling you to get up but you try to ignore it because you know you’ve set an alarm so it’ll wake you? Yeah. I was getting that same feeling right now. Shouldn’t five minutes be over by now? I open my eyes to check my alarm clock and my eyes nearly bulge out. I turned it off instead of snoozing it. Shit. I quickly turn to my wall clock. 7:45. Double shit. I’m supposed to clock in at work by 8:05. I am so screwed. I scramble to get out of bed and into the bathroom. In all my 23 years on Earth, I’ve never showered as fast as I did today. I’m out of the bathroom by 7:53. That leaves me with 12 more minutes. Work is a 10-minute-drive away. There’s no way I’ll make it. I quickly wear a white lace office top and a black pencil skirt. The skirt is a little short but I don’t have time to raid my closet right now. It will have to do. I race out of my apartment and get to my car to drive off to work. By the time I arrive at the office, its 8:15. I run through the lobby not stopping to greet anyone. Greeting takes time, time which I currently do not have. I enter the private elevator which is only meant for the boss and I. The elevator literally takes an eternity to reach the 15th floor. Also this floor is exclusive for the boss and me. Since I’m his personal assistant. As I rush to my desk, I silently pray that he has not arrived yet. But much to my fear and heartbreak, he has. Shit. I pass my desk and go to the coffee machine to make his coffee. I know my boss and if there’s one thing he hates, its lateness. I see people get fired every day because of it. Hopefully, I won’t be joining that fellowship today. I hold my breath as I walk over to his office door, coffee in hand. Come on Chelslys, knock. You’re only wasting more time by standing here. I slowly raise my hand and knock on the door. Please don’t fire me. A low “come in” sounds from the other side of the door. I grab the door knob and turn it. Here it goes. “Good morning Mr. King.” I greet him timidly before walking to place his coffee on his desk. He glances at it before lifting his head to look up at me for the first time today. “Good morning Miss Banks. I believe I was supposed to get this ten minutes ago.” He says with a calm expression. I gulp. “I’m afraid I was a bit late today Sir. I promise it won’t happen again.” I say as calmly as I can. I really can’t afford to lose this job. “You know how much I hate it when things aren’t done on time Miss Banks.” He says looking straight into my eyes. My legs immediately turn into jelly. It’s almost as if he’s staring into my soul. “I have no excuse sir.” I say in defeat. I can’t even lie my way out of this. Not when he’s looking at me like that. He simply corks his head to the side slightly. Probably debating whether to fire me or not. I can feel this eyes shift to my legs for just a slight second. It’s quick but I notice it. I suddenly become very aware of the skirt I chose to wear today. He takes in a deep breath and lets it out. “It’s okay Miss Banks, you’re excused.” He says in a way of dismissing me. “Thank you, sir.” I say before walking out of the office. I let out a breath I didn’t even know I was holding. This is one of the effects Byron Vincent King has not only on me but probably every female species in the world. He stood at a staggering 6’3 with silky brown hair, the most captivating blue eyes and a voice that makes you want to drop your panties at will. He was one hell of a man. He always topped the New York Bachelors list. I mean how could he not? Just look at him, he’s perfect. Not to mention he’s only 28 and one of the youngest billionaires in The Unites States. How could anyone possibly not be attracted to him? I’ve been a walking thirst trap since the very first day I started working at King Industries. But much to my disappointment, he’s not one of those bosses who sleep with their assistants. I’ve been working here for six months and he barely even looks at me. I wouldn’t say I’m God’s greatest gift to man or anything but I consider myself beautiful in the least. He’s probably more into models, actresses and maybe girls who are closer to his age. Oh well. I proceed to take my seat at my desk which is just outside his office. It gets a bit lonely up here if I’m being honest. The boss and I are alone and he barely calls me into his office so I rarely have any human interaction. It’s lonely bit I like it in some way. At least I have the peace of mind to work. That peace of mind doesn’t last long however. It’s destroyed by the ding of the elevator. Out steps Cassidy Armstrong, secretary of the head of accounting and bonified office slut. I try to hold in the vomit that travels up my throat. “Good morning Chels, I’m here to present these files to the boss.” She says in a way too sweet tone. I wish she would just choke on all that fakeness and die. “Sure.” I say and begin to get out of my seat. “ Oh no you don’t have to come. I’ve got this.” She says stopping me. Typical. She wants to be alone with the boss to try and seduce him with her way too tight dress. I’m not surprised at all. “Are you sure?” I ask her. “Completely.” She answers before going on to knock on this door. I don’t even break a sweat because I know Byron is definitely going to call for me. And much to my complete joy, he does so exactly a minute after she enters his office. “Miss Banks could you please take not of Miss Armstrong’s account?” He asks politely. “Yes sir.” I nod and take out my note pad. Cassidy’s presentation doesn’t take very long. She’s done in about ten minutes. “Miss Banks, did you get all that?” He asks me. “Yes sir.” I answer, putting away my note pad. “Thanks you Miss Armstrong.” He says. “No worries sir. I’m always at your service if you need anything. Anything at all.” Cassidy says enthusiastically, almost causing me to throw up. I know all too well the type of ‘services’ she would like to render. “I’m sure the head of your department would be in more need of your services than I would. You are excused.” Byron says, not even glancing up at the document he’s reading to look at her. Ouch. That must’ve stung, being shut down like that. I almost feel sad for her. Almost. But the feeling to laugh my ass off is more tempting. I manage to hold back my laughter but a small smile creeps up on my lips. They never learn. You’d think they’d know by now that it’s not a good idea to get flirty with the boss but they just keep trying. Cassidy manages to utter a small “Yes sir.” Before retreating in shame. My day literally just started and it has already been made. “Could you please go over the figures Miss Armstrong provided? I know she’s credible and proficient but I’d feel more confident if you did it.” Byron asks of me. This time, I barely succeed in not laughing. Forget Cassidy’s looks, he doesn’t even admire her work. She never had a chance to begin with. “Sure thing boss.” I say, take the file and leave his office. Poor Cassidy
The rest of the work day is pretty much uneventful and soon, it’s 7:00pm, time for me to leave this place. I pack my things into my bag before proceeding to knock on Byron’s office door. “Come in.” He answers and I oblige. “I went over the figures Cassidy presented earlier today sir. They’re all correct.” I say, while walking over to hand him the file. “Thank you Miss Banks. I suppose you’ll be heading home now.” He states rather than asks. “Yes sir, provided you don’t need me for anything.” I answer him. “I need you for a lot of this Miss Banks.” He says in a low tone and my heart skips a beat. What? I’m surprised he just said that to me, considering the sexual double meaning. And in that voice too. “But I’ll run them by you tomorrow. I don’t wanna overwork you.” He adds in his default professional tone. Back to normal. I’m still shaken up but I manage to reply. “No problem sir. Goodnight.” I greet politely. “Good night Miss Banks. And please try not to be late.” He adds. “I won’t sir.” I say before leaving his office. I still can’t believe that just happened. Did Byron King just subtle hint me? No, it can’t be. I’ve probably been craving him so much that I’m imagining things. Get your head outta the clouds Chels, it’ll never happen.
I arrive at home by 7:20pm. I am exhausted. I take a shower and change into some comfortable pajamas. I feel too lazy to make my own dinner so I order take out instead and proceed to relax in my living room while watching Frozen 2. I hear the doorbell sound after a while. That was fast. Deliveries usually take a bit longer. I walk over and unlock the door, but it’s not the delivery man, much to my stomach’s disappointment. It’s my best friend. Candice Smith, affectionately referred to as Candi. Hey Chels, I was bored at home so I decided to come here and ruin your night. What are you watching?” She asks, walking right pass me like she owns the place. Classic Candice. The delivery man arrived about ten minutes later so we’re currently seated in my living room watching Frozen 2. “How was work today?” Candi asks me while taking a spoonful of rice into her mouth. “It was okay.” I answer shrugging. Candi does not work, She’s a typical daddy’s girl. I guess you could say she’s her father’s daughter for a living. She may seem like a spoilt brat at first but once you get to know her, she’s a pretty decent person. “Oh and how’s that sexy boss of yours? Have you taken a ride on that stallion yet?” She asks, wriggling her eyebrows. “Come on Candi, this is not a conversation to have while watching Frozen.” I object in an attempt to change the subject but she simply grabs the remote and turns off the T.V. “Problem solved.” She says with a big smile. I give her a look of distain before talking. “Well another girl tried flirting with him today. Let’s just say it didn’t go the way she expected at all. The shutdown was brutal. I almost felt sorry for her.” I inform her. “Oh sht. I’m guessing she wasn’t so subtle with her flirting.” Candi says, laughing, causing me to laugh as well. I shake my head ‘no.’ “When will they learn that up right flirting doesn’t work on men like Byron King. If you actually want him to notice you, you have to be subtle about it.” She explains. “And what about you? Won’t you make your move?” She turns to ask me. “Make my move. Are you crazy? Did you not just hear what I told you? Girls try and fail on the daily. I don’t want him to think I’m one of them. I’ll lose his respect.” I say. “You’re forgetting that you have a secret weapon.” She says with a big ass smirk. “Oh yeah? And what’s that?” I ask. “Me. I know all about seducing men. Just let me coach you for a while. If he still doesn’t notice your advances, I’ll back off.” She says confidently. “I dunno Candi. This could seriously backfire. What if I end up getting fired?” I ask, shuddering at the thought of being fired. “Oh come on, you’re not getting fired. Just take a risk for once in your life.” She pushes on but I’m still not completely onboard. “Come on Chelslys Venus Banks, you may even end up becoming Mrs. Chelslys Venus Banks-King.” She still continues to persist. She’ll probably never stop till I agree. So after much debating, I give in. “Okay fine.” I say lowly. She immediately jumps up and does a happy dance. “Yes. Let’s start right now.” She says, taking my food away from me. “But I’m not done eating yet.” I whine. “Come on Chels, do you wanna screw your boss or not?” She asks like it’s such a normal thing to ask. “This is no child’s play Chelslys, Seduction is an art.”
