The Beginning...
"Oww," whines Samantha as a thorn pierces through her shirt.
Samantha is a 15-year-old nonbinary and lesbian person, who is a brunette and has the most emerald green eyes. Their nickname is Sam. They were wearing their scout uniform, with plaid pants and a tan shirt. Their backpack was black, with multiple pride keychains. They have adoptive parents, Mrs. Natalie and Mr. Meddy Butler. They are around 5'5 and are really clumsy. Right now, they are hiking up Mount Theera as a scout activity. The hike has so far taken up 3 days. The mountain is really lush with plants, but most of the plants have many thorns. It also has many various types of animals. In Samantha's scout squad, there is one leader, and thirteen people in each scout group.
"Quit lagging, Sam!" grumbled her group leader, Ms. Yoland, as Samantha tripped and fell.
Ms. Yoland is a woman in her forties and has glasses. She has quite a lot of stamina compared to other people near her age.
"Old hag..." mumbled Sam as they quickly stood up to brush the grass of their pants and to stop their backpack from moving. "Stop moving, or we'll get caught..." they whispered to it.
The scout squad continued to hike up the mountain for about an hour more before setting up their tents. The tents were small, only large enough to fit in two people if they were squished. They were also the color brown haggard looking. Samantha sighed as they went into their tent. They were exhausted.
"Come on out," whispered Sam, as they unzipped their backpack. Their cat, Claw, came tumbling out. Sam giggled as Claw climbed into their lap.
Claw is a black cat, with one sapphire blue eye. The other eye is just a scar at this point as Claw can't open it. Sam always wondered what it looked like.
"I can't believe that the rest of the squad didn't find out about me smuggling you with me," grinned Sam. Claw meowed back in a way that almost seemed like she was replying to them.
They sat in with each other for quite some time, with Claw snuggling up with Sam and Sam petting her lost in thought. There were a few close calls, where one of the people patrolling almost caught them, but Sam was quick to hide Claw. In a few hours, they finally drifted to sleep.
As they woke up in the morning, they had to help the rest of the squad clean up the tents. As Sam was helping them out, abruptly, Claw ran out of her bag and dashed into the forest. She looked back at Sam as if almost calling her.
Quick to act, Sam chased after her, and Ms. Yoland was quick to notice.
"Oi! Sam, get back here! Don't make me tell your parents that you ran off and snuck your pet over!" yelled Ms. Yoland, chasing after Sam. However, she was quick to lose her breath. Cursing, she called another squad leader that was nearby for help.
"Claw! Where are you!?" cried Samantha frantically. They tripped and fell multiple times in their search for Claw. Suddenly, they hear Claw's meowing and dashed towards them. "Wait for me Claw!"
The moment she saw Claw, she jumped towards her in joy. But, their joy was short-lived. As, at that moment, they went humbling off the mountain, and onto the ground below.
