Stone Cold Eyes

“Any thoughts as to who you’re going to Hogsmeade with?” Your friend asked.

“No… I’m not even sure if I want to go…” You said unenthusiastically.

“What?? You can’t just not go! Valentine’s weekend is in two weeks! You have to have a date!”

“But nobody’s asked me… and there’s no point if all we’re going to do is snog in Madam Puddifoot’s shop.”

“That’s the whole point! What’s a little action, huh? You need to at least have your first kiss.”

“Yeah, not really into that stuff…”

“Y/N, you’re basically the only fifth year in this entire school that hasn’t had their first kiss”

“And it’s ok to keep it that way”

“Ugh, you’re too stubborn for your own good. Just have some fun, get some action, just live for once in your life!”

Your friend strode ahead to catch up with their other friends, leaving you behind to soak in their words.

What if I was the only 5th year who hasn’t had their first kiss? Will anyone want to kiss me?

You were so distracted by your thoughts that you forgot to look up and you ran right into another student.

“Watch where you’re going you little-”

The boy cut off when you two made eye contact.

“You were saying?” You said lazily, knowing he was distracted by your stunning y/e/c eyes.

“I said, ‘watch where you’re going you little rodent’”

“Uh huh… and what made you stop the first time?”

“Nothing. Get out of my way” He practically spat at you in an annoyed tone.

The boy, who you recognized as the infamous Tom Riddle, breezed pass you, knocking your shoulder and causing you to drop one of your books.

The rest of the day you couldn’t get the interaction out of your head. You had no clue why, it was nothing special, but something about his pale grey eyes…

NO!

You said to yourself, getting distracted again while doing your Transfiguration homework. No matter what you tried, nothing seemed to help you focus. Reading two books at a time, trying to drink some tea, but still your mind wandered to Tom. You had had enough and thought it’d be better to study in the library than common room. After all, it was destined to be quieter in there.

You packed up some of your things and exited the (your House) common room, making your way to the library. You took a shortcut because of how late it already was. There was no need to lose even more precious studying time. As you arrived in the darkened library, a shadow near the back caught your eye. You made it over there to investigate and to get a good spot to study. You could make out the slight silhouette of an older boy as you turned the corner, his face was dimly lit by the light of a low-burning candle. His eyes met yours and oh too quickly you recognized them to be Tom’s.

“What’re you doing back here?” He hissed.

“Well I came back here for any other reason one would… to study”

“So why are you bothering me?”

“You’re in my seat”

Your seat?

Well I don’t see it marked with your name”

“I always come here to study. And you’ve obviously been here for awhile based off the state of your candle”

“Clever (girl/boy/preferred)”

“It’s just common sense Riddle”

He stood up and walked close to you.

“Seat’s all yours” He whispered coolly in your ear.

He walked away with his quill, parchment, and book tucked under his arm. After this, there was absolutely no way you could stay focused enough to study. You just decided to give up on studying and go to bed.

All you could think of was Tom as you walked back to your dorm. There was nothing special about it. He’s a bastard that enjoys teasing. He just has a cool way of talking. It’s nothing about you. These convincing words carried you back up to your dorm without a second thought. Maybe you should just drop it, it’d be easier anyway. There’s nothing special about this boy… or so you thought.
