Our Tears May Fall

Summary

This is the first thing I’ve shared, but I’ve always wanted to share something I wrote. I wasn’t planning on writing this one and certainly wasn’t planning on sharing it. Either way, this is a short little poem I wrote just now sitting in class. If you read it, please comment to let me know what you think. Both positive and negative comments would be greatly appreciated. Please do give it a try, if, on the off chance someone would like to read something else I’ve written, please tell me. Thanks :))) Grace Catrin :)

Our Tears May Fall

The leaves are red

the leaves are orange

the leaves are yellow

the leaves are green

the leaves are gone

yet the mountains are blue

the children cry

the mothers wail

the fathers leave

the children hurt

the mothers hurt

yet the mountains are blue

the soldiers are weary

the politicians fight

the broken mourn

the angels fear

the world burns

yet the mountains are blue

the drunkard drinks

the gambler gambles

the whore sells her body

the teacher teaches

the preacher preachers

yet the mountains are blue

lovers are separated

grandfathers pass

children go hungry and cold

prayers aren’t answered

sirens ring and wail

yet the mountains are blue

the sun goes down

the rain falls

the wind blows

the green earth turns brown

the flowers wilt

and the leaves fall

our hair turns gray

our faces wrinkle

our hands shake

our lovers pass

our eyes drain of tears

our eyes fade in color

our hearts break

our souls are on their ways

but…

no matter what happens,

when we look around us

our mountains are blue.
