Chapter 1/Happy 30th
(Rachel POV)
I’m finally turning thirty, I really thought by my thirties I would already have a family, a loving husband. But in all reality I was single. Throughout my twenties I surely wasted it going to law school to become a successful lawyer that’s where I met my crush Dex. Even though he’s engaged to my best friend Darcy I still have these feelings for him. My feelings never fully went away six years ago. But I never truly told Dex my true feelings, instead I just told him that we were “friends.” Now it’s six years later and I’m finally turning thirty how crazy was that? I was lost in thought when I received a text from my bestie Darcy.
Darcy: Hey Rach come to the pub around 7:00pm! Don’t be late!
A few minutes later after my text from Darcy I received a text from Ethan whom is my best guy friend we’ve been friends since children. You know I’ve never thought of Ethan more than just a friend, he’s my bestest friend and he’ll have my back no matter what! I can tell him everything and he wouldn’t judge me.
Ethan:Happy Birthday Rach!
Rachel:Thank you so very much Ethan you’re my best friend on the whole planet see you tonight! :)
I first met Darcy when we were children we’ve done everything together. I’m also her maid of honor to her wedding where’s she’s going to get married to Dex the same man whom stole my heart six years ago. I was sitting in my office when I finally looked at the clock which read 6:30pm I was leaving my office and heading to the local bar where I would cross paths with my besties. I’m really not that big into surprises. When I opened the door everyone said.”Surprise!” I tried to smile happily.
(Ethan POV)
I was looking at Rachel with a happy smile. We’ve been friends for years, but I never truly told her my true feelings whatsoever I was scared of rejection. So I didn’t tell her nothing since I didn’t want to ruin our perfect friendship. I’m a publisher for a writing house, I got a job offer in London and I’m still thinking about accepting it. I was lost in thought when I was staring at Rachel that’s when I heard the sound of Darcy finally speaking.” Hello everyone my besties 30th birthday is today shout out to Rachel for always being there for me. I absolutely adore our friendship, I couldn’t ask for a better friend in the whole wide world happy birthday!” Darcy proclaimed through the microphone.
(Darcy POV)
I proclaimed through the microphone that’s when I laid eyes on my gorgeous fiancé Dex the man whom I was in love with. The person that I wanted to share my life with, he was my everything, I remembered when I met him six years ago and I couldn’t forget the image of him looking sexy as hell. I walked towards Rachel smiling happily while hugging her.”Happy Birthday Rachel! I couldn’t ask for a better friend!” I removed myself from the hug and that’s when I made eye contact with my wonderful fiancé.” Hey baby.” I kissed his cheek and he was holding onto my hand.
(Dex POV)
I was holding onto my fiancé’s hand it fit so perfectly. I met Darcy six years ago I just remembered when Rachel and I were all alone I actually adored her company, I actually did have a crush on her so many years ago. But when she told Darcy that we were just friends I was heartbroken since I wanted to more than friends. But here I was holding onto my fiancé’s hand at her friends birthday party. I kissed Darcy’s cheek and then kissed her lips which were soft against mine.” I love you Dex.” She said into my ear with a whisper, and I replied to her.” I love you so much Darcy. You mean the world to me I’ll never let you go.” We were kissing for a few minutes when Darcy let go of the kiss to find her friend.
(Rachel POV)
“Thank you so very much Darcy for everything.” I hugged her yet again. A few minutes later Darcy and I were drinking very heavily shots after shots. My eyes were so tired, I couldn’t believe it though I was already in my thirties, my life was passing before my very eyes and I wasn’t taking control of my love life. It was nearing time to head home to my lonely house with me, myself, and I. I was heading outside when Dex proclaimed to me,”Hey Rach Darcy lost her new purse.” When he said those words I was in utter shock.” Seriously? Her new bag that was extremely expensive I’ll help you find it if you would like.” He nodded while smiling.”Yes that sounds wonderful.”
Dex and I returned to the bar where I had my birthday party bash. I discovered the white handbag on the chair and handed
it over to him.”Would you like to have some drinks with me? Since it’s still your 30th birthday and everything.” I smiled happily and just couldn’t process that I’ll be alone with Dex once again.” I would umm.. like that.. that sounds wonderful.”
-A Few Minutes Later-
“If you could have done it over again what career path would you have chosen?” I proclaimed to Dex while sipping my beverage.” I would like to be a teacher. Also, a soccer coach if I could have a chance. But instead I went to law school where I met you and I wouldn’t change anything Rachel.” I looked deeply into his eyes and I couldn’t fully believe that he wouldn’t change anything especially meeting me of all the things.” I think you would be an amazing teacher.” I told him and he truly smiled with happiness.” Well I better be heading home I have work in the morning.” I was outside of the bar when Dex was following closely behind he was hailing a cab. Before I knew it Dex and I were both sharing the same cab that’s when he looked deeply into my eyes and he began kissing me and I returned the kiss with passion and desire. I couldn’t fully process it I’m actually kissing my crush Dex the one person that I couldn’t stop loving. I’ll never forget the night of my 30th birthday.
