Preface
I dragged the edges of my coat as I walked deeper into the building. Why had I agreed to do this? I was facing off one of the most deadly and awfully sexy drug lords of all time. I paused my walking as I heard some noises.
Footsteps.
I reached towards the back pocket of my jeans to retrieve my gun. With my hands on the handle, I continued my walking.
"Looking for me?" A deep masculine voice called out from behind me.
I turned around as fast as possible and saw him. The drug lord himself.
Damien.
"Oh, not at all. Not everyone looks for people like you." I replied sweetly.
He laughed and walked closer to me. With every backward step I took, he took a forward step. This continued until my back hit a wall and he trapped me against it.
"So what do you say you're looking for again? If not me, then who or what?" He asked against my ear.
My grip on the gun tightened and I slowly removed it from my pocket.
"You know, why exactly did you become a drug lord. I hear you have lots of certificates and degrees from college, why this?" I asked.
"Who cares? When you've got all the money in the world, nobody cares what you do." He replied, laughing.
"So this is funny?" I asked and pressed the gun to the side of his head.
"I should have known you're one of those trying to kill me, but you know what, you never will just like you never have." Damien said.
My grip on the trigger tightened and I gritted my teeth. This guy was just impossible.
"But maybe I will." I said.
Before I could pull the trigger, a bullet landed above my head on the wall. We separated to see about six people dressed in black holding guns up aimed at us. Damien and I looked at each other, smirking.
"Surrender or you shall smell defeat. It's six against two." One of them said. They surrounded us by forming a circle and Damien and I had to face opposite directions, leaning on each other's backs.
Damien and I started laughing and immediately had our guns up.
"Bring it on." Damien said, his voice laced with challenge.
Three shots fired from his side and two from mine. Damien left his spot to stand beside me and we both pointed our guns at him, supposedly the leader.
"Let's see who's about to reek of defeat." I said and we both pulled the trigger.
The white marble floors were now crimson in colour. I looked at Damien the same time he looked at me. He smirked and I smiled.
"We make a good team after all, like we used to." Damien said.
Great way to ruin the moment by bringing back the old times, Whitburn.
"You know what? Why don't I just go ahead and finish what I came her for?" I asked, putting the gun up.
"Then go ahead. I'm not stopping you." Damien said and turned around to walk away.
I put the gun down and groaned in defeat. I could never bring myself to do this. No matter how hard I tried to feel the pain from the past, it just never worked.
