Opportunity

~The opportunity.

I am Robin, Robin Myers; 24, fresh out of college with an MBA degree. I might not have gone to the ivy league but Stanford is not bad, especially if you were a straight A student. Been that way my entire life. The perfect girl next door is what people called me in high school. My mother called me a ball of sunshine. I have been bubbly and a jolly person all my life, full of optimism and positivity, a natural submissive personality. I believe in trusting the universe and having faith in the almighty. Everything happens for a reason. We are living a journey that almighty has written except he gives us choices, choices at every step. We are who we are because we chose to be that way. In short I am a believer. Do your part and leave the result on universe, it has got your back.

I lost my parents when I was 18 in a car crash. My dad was a corporate lawyer and an amazing one and my mom was an artist. They have the cutest love story and I long for a love like that. I hope everyday that one day I will find that someone who will complete me, be my other half. I am a romantic at heart, romance novels have been my best friends since forever. After spending two months painting and applying for jobs I finally found the perfect job for me in today's newspaper. Well it is not the perfect job but it is the step that will take me to where I want to be, The best executive assistant in the entire Manhattan. The advertisement is for a temporary position of an assistant for the chairman of 'The Elite'.

I checked my to do list for today, nothing special. I decided to try my luck and rang the number provided on the ad. After three rings a lady answered thee phone,

"Hello, this is the HR office of 'The Elite', how may I help you?"

"Hello, I called to check if applications for the temporary assistant job from the ad are still open."

"Yes, the applications will be open till today evening 6.00 pm. You can send an e mail application on the listed mail address."

"Thank you, so much. That will be all. Have a good day."

"You too." And the line went dead.

I sent my application without wasting another second. And now I am waiting for a reply to know if I got the interview or not. It is gonna be a long day. Instead of sitting idle entire day I decided to go shopping, a best first impression formal dress, fresh pair of formal heels, a new binder because I need to research 'The Elite' and my possible future boss to be prepared and a new diary. I lost my old one in the coffee shop last week. It was the longest I have gone by without my diary, it had my every memory, my photo and my thoughts and I lost it. Its probably lying around in some dumpster.

I am not in dire need of a job but it would be good to finally earn my first salary, my very own income. I am not broke because, I get a 15% of profits from my dad's co owned law firm. Dad and his two other friends ended up starting this law firm. His other two partners uncle Sheldon and aunty Carter ended up marrying, and they are adorable together. When my parents passes away they took care of me. I left for Stanford as an escape, but now coming back to Manhattan felt like coming back home after a war. A war that I had been fighting with my self.

I moved back to Manhattan three months ago, after graduating. California had suddenly started feeling strange, and hostile and I knew that it was the universe telling me that home is calling and I need to return home. So here I am a fresh college graduate, living in my parent's penthouse in Manhattan, applying for a job.

I still remembered the day I moved in the apartment which was my home, the place I grew up, the place where I spent 18 most beautiful years of my life, the place where there is nothing but love and memories. I had felt a strange comfort coming here and I knew I could never sell this place. It would break my parent's heart if I sold this house.

Back to present and reality, I am done shopping for everything I will need for the interview and now time for some research but before that I need to cook some dinner cause my stupid stomach wont shut up. I decided to make some spaghetti with meat balls, my comfort food and the only food that my mom could cook. I am filled with a strange sense on nostalgia, its something about today, I am missing my parents more than ever. I guess its just the nervousness of the job application, they would have been proud if I got the job. It would be their little girl's first job. My eyes filled with tears of mixed emotions, happiness, nostalgia, excitement, nervousness and the emptiness. I decided to take my research and dinner to the balcony, maybe the cold fall air will wash of the overwhelming feelings that I am feeling. To avoid the evening traffic noise of New York I plugged in my air pods and started my comfort playlist, well its just one song, Once in a lifetime by Landon Austin. This one particular songs always manages to comfort my heart, calm my nerves.

So 'The Elite' is a fashion company mainly focusing on women's fashion and lingerie. It was started by Christian Falcon. He started it 12 years ago when he was just 22, pretty impressive. Though he has never really elaborated why he got in the fashion business. He moved to New York from Italy and started his company and built it from ground. There is not much about him on the internet except basic information and a few photographs.

Here is all the information I Know about my possible future boss. Christian Falcon, Italian-American business man, 38, multi millionaire. Around 6 feet tall, tanned skin, amazingly fit. Very piercing hazel green eyes, jet black hair. A philanthropist, down to earth man. Single according to the tabloids.
