Chapter 1
Its been 62 days since mother went away to sea. I can't lie and say I've been enjoying my time without mother because infact I have not. Everyday is the same, wake up, eat, read, sleep and repeat, it's quite boring and exhausting. I wish I had something adventurous to do, but unfortunately I do not.
Its also been a struggle without mother Because my dreams Keep getting worse by the day. In my dreams I am in a magical land, with strange creatures, such as a smiling cat? The dreams are very strange and Intense. They usually leave me tired by the morning with the lack of sleep I can get. That's not even the strangest part, the strangest part Is that I swore mother has mentioned something similar to my dreams, but I'm not sure. I'll have to ask mother when she returns.

*Knock, knock* I hear from my door. I place my book that i was reading down, and go to open the door. When I open my door I am not surprised by who I see there but I'm not unhappy. "John please come in" John thanks me and walks into my room and sits down at the end of my bed. I go to sit down with him. "Hello Veldana. How are you today?" John says. John is short in height and more on the scrawny side, he has hazel eyes and brown shoulder length hair. He is quite beautiful if I am being honest.
"I.. could be better. How about you John? Did work go well this weekend?" He turns his body more towards me "yes work went better than expected, thanks to you Veldana"
"Ah no need to thank me John I was just doing the right thing" I smile softly at him. John works in a factory working on clothing. I donated a large about of money to his company. They were struggling with keeping their factory open and I simply did the right thing by helping out.
"Yes you are right Veldana, but still thank you so much. We wouldn't still be working if it wasn't for you" he says In a gentle and honest tone. I could tell he was really grateful. If John had lost his job his family would've been struggling. And I wouldn't hope for someone to go through that.
"Its really no problem" I smile at him.
I go over to my table with my tea set. "Tea?"
"Yes please"
As I am pouring the tea. I finally ask "John. What is the reason you came to visit me today?" I had a suspicion for why he came here.
I hear him sigh and stand up. "You probably already have a clue why I'm here so I won't sugar coat it" I turn around and go over and hand him the tea, he thanks me quietly and sits back down on the bed, I join him. "Veldana.... I've been worried about you." I sigh for what it feels like the 5th time today and turn to face him "I know what you are about to say John, but there's no need to worry. Im perfectly fine, I just miss mother"
" I have some trouble believing that Veldana. You haven't left your house since Alice house left. That is not okay" he gently tries to tell me
"That is because I have no reason to go outside john" I say in a slightly cold voice. He gives me a look. I give him a apologitic gaze for my tone.
"Veldana...come with me to the ball that is being held In a few weeks" he asks me, well sounds more demanding.
"I-" I try to come up with a excuse of why to not go, but by the way he is looking at me seems like I don't have much of a choice.
"Please? For me? Im worried about you. Just come to this ball, and I won't bother you about this anymore"
He looks at me pleadingly. "John...."
"Veldana please" I sigh " I don't have a dress to wear"
He immediately perks up "We can go out to town and buy you one from the finest dress store in town!" He says In a dramatically excited tone. I smile a little bit at how excited he is about this.
"Okay, okay. I will go then" I can't blame him for worrying. I have been I guess you could say depressed since mother has left.
"Alright. We will go get a perfect gown for you in a week"
"Does that work for you Veldana?" He asks me while pacing around my room happily
"Mm yes that's fine" "perfect!" I pick up his empty tea cup and start to head down to out kitchen area, to wash the cups out.
John follows me out of the room, mumbling about the ball and who he is going to bring. I am not focused on what he is saying.

After John has left, after alot of persuading. I finally get to sit down and get back to my interesting book before I get the chance to do that. I see a very bright blue butterfly flying around my room. I gasp at it's beauty and size, never seeing a butterfly so big in size and with amazingly pretty color on it.
It lands on the corner of my mirror. The bright blue butterfly flaps it wings a couple of times, then flys out of the room. I run after it. "Wait" I try to catch up with it, but while I'm rounding the corner I bump into someone and fall on my back from the force.
I hear a gasp " oh my.. miss Veldana are you okay? Im terribly sorry I didn't see you there" I look up to see my mother's maid standing there with a few cleaning supplies.
"Ah" I groan in discomfort. "Its alright aline"
"Let me help you miss. Im terribly sorry" aline rushes over to me, to help me get back up while apologizing repeatedly.
"Its really okay. Mistakes happen" I reassure her
Once I'm back on my feet and dust off any thing that could be on me. " Are you okay miss? Would you like any tea? Or something for your back?" She gushes over me.
"I swear I'm alright it was just a little fall no need to fuss. I smile at her reassuringly.
"Okay I'm so sorry. Ring the bell if you need anything" I tell her I will, and to have a good day.
After the encounter with aline i go to search for the blue butterfly again, but it's nowhere to be found. I sigh in defeat and decide to go back to my room, feeling exhausted already.
