Summary

Riella Kage Harkenson was a simple girl from a small town. She lived a life like any other teenage girl from Windom, Minnesota. That was, however, until a tragedy took her best friend away from her. Four months after the painful loss, just when the suspicious circumstances surrounding her best friend's death began to fade in the public's mind, a new boy appears seemingly out of nowhere. Resurfacing the questions about her best friend's supposed suicide and plunging her into a life of blurred reality, Riella must face that sometimes, life's darkest happenings do not have simple explanations. With Avidan Keller on her side, she begins learning the truth behind the fragile veil of this world. However, will knowledge be enough to heal her, the memory of her best friend, and Avidan's broken heart? It looks like they may need the help of a few more trusty resources... and perhaps a dive face-first into a world hidden to the average eye. Preface

I stared into his cold, dark eyes. Honestly, I didn’t believe they had any color. They were just black. Jet black. They glittered like onyxes, but it was a menacing gleam; I felt chills travel up my spine as I broke out into a cold sweat. As his lips turned up in an evil grin, I knew my time was about to end. Please, I pleaded in my mind. Please don’t let Avidan come now.

“Let’s finish this, shall we?”
