Prisca’s POV

Walking down the hallway with the smell of antiseptic lingering everywhere, I managed to reach the administration office. I was finally going to join my dream medical school at Harvard. I had worked so hard on this and finally gotten a 100% scholarship.

This felt amazing.

I finally feel free at last.

Free from my step-mom.

Free from my step-brother.

Free from all the unwanted memories.

I had always wanted to save lives, and be independent. Now there is nothing holding me back.

Now no one can stop me not even my step-mom, Andrea. She really doesn’t like me she almost ruined my life 2 years ago and is still planning to go on. I can never tell what is going on in her head, but all I know is now she can’t even come near me, and the wonderful thing is she will not be able to find me either.

Freedom at last.

I reach the admin office and head through the door to get my schedule and fix my dorm situation because apparently due to a small fire our dorms are getting shifted and now some people have moved into an apartment while those who can’t get one, like me, they have to stay in a different dorm.

I am still getting all my paperwork from the admin when I notice 2 girls come into the office.

“Hi” said one of the girls.

“Hey” I replied to them.

Both the girls looked beautiful, one was blond with wavy hair, blue eyes with hints of grey in it, and milk-like soft skin. While the other had dark black hair, emerald green eyes, and chocolate brown skin. They both looked extremely pretty, I am pretty sure they will be going to be part of the popular kids here. I wish I could even be half as pretty as them.

“We just wanted to ask if this is where we can get our dorm room keys and schedules,” the blond girl asked me.

“Yes that is exactly what I am doing here as well,” I said with a kind smile.

“By the way I am Patricia and this is Natalie,” said the blond girl and then pointing to the girl with beautiful green eyes

“I am Prisca,” I said with a warm smile

" So are you joining as a first-year student or a transfer student?” Patricia asked.

“I am a first-year student and I am guessing you guys are the first year as well” I replied

“Yes you got that right” Natalie said

“Well I think she is almost done with mine” I replied

We all finally got our schedules and dorm keys.

“Do we have any common classes?” Natalie asks.

We compare our schedules and realize that all our classes are similar. Wow-what a coincidence.

“I think we have the same classes except for embryology, and anatomy,” I said

“Oh that is awesome well we have our first-day classes together then,” Patricia said

I simply nodded my head

“I know right, this will be awesome we can become really good friends, god knows how I am going to survive without any” Natalie said in a very excited and chirpy tone.

Just as we were about to walk out I bumped into a really hard, stone-like wall. It took me a second to realize that it was not actually a wall but the chest of a really built guy. His muscles were ripping out of his slim-fit shirt and if he took one more deep breath then the shirt might just rip off to show his well-sculpted body.

“I am sorry” I quickly blurted out looking at the most handsome face I have ever seen.

His eyes were blue with a tint of green and a gold ring around its black pupil. His face was chiseled with a beard highlighting his strong jawline. I was astonished by his beauty that I didn’t realize I was staring right at him. His face felt so familiar, it felt like I have seen him before somewhere. I just don’t remember where, how can I forget such a beautiful face. I just felt like it was the most beautiful person in the world, and it felt like there was something that was pulling me to just keep staring at him.

“you should be,” he said. As soon as those words left his mouth the effect of his looks all went into the drain, now I started to dislike him. Hot or not you don’t talk like a rude, arrogant, son of a bachelor.

My expression changed from being happy to angry instantly. I get it, it was my mistake I didn’t see him but seriously this dude could chill and not act like a bitch with me.

“Jake man you don’t have to be so rude to her” This made me break my death glare from the guy who I think is Jake to look at the 3 other guys near him. I looked at the person who spoke.

“Hi I am Roman, I am sorry for Jake being a douchebag” The guy spoke. Roman had almost similar features as Jake just that his skin was a little paler and his eyes were bright blue without tints of other colors.

" Yeah, he can be a bit of a douchebag sometimes” I heard another person speak.

“By the way I am Jayden,” said one of the two guys “and I am Aiden”

“Well and this douchebag here is Jake, and unfortunately Roman’s cousin” I heard Aiden say

“Oh, how unfortunate,” I said, ” Well I am Prisca.”

“I am Patricia”

“and I am Natalie, its nice to meet you”

I noticed Roman and Natalie staring at each other with love?.

I am just confused didn’t they just meet each other. Well, maybe it is love at first sight. Well, they both are quite good-looking of course there would be an instant attraction but this was still a little off. Wow, gosh people really fall for each other like this. I still don’t believe in this love at first sight, it can just be an instant attraction because of looks, and usually, they don’t last. Love is so complicated that I promised myself not to fall in love until I am done with med school.

Then all of a sudden Jake breaks their staring by saying one of the most douchebag things in the world. “Ok introductions are done, now move out of our way so that we can get our things as well” with that I looked at Patricia and Natalie and saw them quickly exchange numbers with the boys.

“Fine douchebag,” I said and moved out of his way. Gosh why does he have to be like that seriously all assholes are like that, why did I expect this man to be different. Almost all men in my life have the biggest assholes in the world.

“Hey Girls let’s go to our classes we don’t want to be late today,” I told Patricia and Natalie and they all nodded.

Natalie however was very reluctant and gave Roman sad eyes as if trying to say that she wished to go with him. While we were walking down the hall, Roman came running towards us.

“Hey Natalie, ummm.... I.... you....I just wanted to ask if you are free tonight?” Roman said

We were dumbfounded, that was quick, never in my life has a person asked me on a date just seconds after meeting me.

“umm... yeah I am free tonight” She replied with a light blush.

“Really?”

" Yeah”

“Ok then, be ready at 7 and send me your dorm location I will pick you up,” He said with a bright smile.

“Ok I will be ready”

As soon as Roman left, Patricia and I just stared at her in shock, like wow.

“OMG Natalie, first day in college and you already have a date,” I said breaking my shock.

“I know right I am so happy for you,” Patricia said

“Me too, and I also think Roman is good well at-least way better than the asshole cousin of his,” I said

We noticed Natalie’s cheek turned a really bright red and started giggling.

“Well I guess we should head off to class now”

We arrive in our classroom and take our seats. Apparently, this year for everything to be better we have been paired with a random student in our class as an icebreaker so that we get comfortable, and every 2 hours it will change throughout the day so that we get to the new faces. They give us random numbers and we look for the person with that number.

I got number 27. I looked around and tried to look for 27 in the air somewhere else, and I finally found the person and it turned out to be Aiden.

“Hey again Aiden”

" Hi Prisca, this is a nice coincidence”

" I know right”

“Well tell me about yourself,” he asked me

“What do you want to know,” I said

“So where are you from?”

“I am from New York, I just moved to Boston a few weeks just for college”

“Wow really, that is so cool,” he said

“What about you where are you from?”

“Oh I am born and raised in Boston with Roman, and Jayden but Jake grew up in New York for 15 years then he moved here,” Aiden told me

“ooh that is so nice, I never had cousins with me or any siblings, I do have a stepbrother though.” I said

" oh, that is cool,” He told me. Little did he know that my stepbrother, Aron, was far from nice and cool, he was just like his mom, evil and vain. All he cared about was himself and not even about the relations he has. I wish my best friend was alive to stand up for me against him, but guess what ill fate and Prisca go hand in hand.

“Thank you,” I said.

“Anyway guess what, Roman is having a party on Friday you should come,” He told me

“Oh really, that is cool, but I don’t think..”

“Yes, she will definitely come” Natalie’s voice cut mine, which ends up with me giving her a very cold death glare. I raise one of my eyebrows at her asking “why she would push me to go to a party.”

“Yay, really, well then that is good for us isn’t it”

Suddenly the professor’s voice tells us all to settle down with our assigned partners.

Today I only had 3 classes, and each class was 2 hours long so right now, I am here trying to focus, while Aiden has been joking non-stop with basically everyone around. At least his jokes are keeping me awake otherwise I would have fallen asleep a long time ago.

Finally, after 4 hours of 2 lectures, it is lunch-time. I as usual brought a packed lunch because I don’t trust cafeteria food. It just tastes so weird sometimes.

As I am walking out of my lecture room I meet Natalie and Patricia their second lecture was different from mine.

“Finally... those lectures are so boring,” Patricia told us.

“Yeah, they are so boring, if it weren’t for Aiden making so many jokes I would have fallen asleep,” I told them.

“At least you had Aiden joking around to keep you awake, I was about to fall asleep,” Natalie replied

“Hey don’t lie, I saw the footsy you and Roman were doing, there is no way you were about to fall asleep,” Patricia told us, and I raised an eyebrow at Natalie.

“oooh so is there something more you want to tell me regarding Roman,” I asked Natalie whose face had turned completely red.

“It’s nothing like that we just really like each other, I know it is weird and seems too soon but I really like him,” She told me

“Wow I hope you guys work out then coz you guys would look so cute together,” I said.

“I know right they will... oh by the way we are helping you get ready for your date tonight,” Patricia said to Natalie.

We all giggled and Natalie just blushed again.
