The new house.

Void was in the car on her phone texting her best friend. Void was about to ask her best friend to come over but then she remembered... She no longer lived in New York. No, she now was driving to where her new house was. Where was it it exactly? Well it was in Florida. She doubt his family had enough money for a plane ride to Florida. I mean her best friend's family was already struggling enough with money. She sighed to herself.

"Maybe this isn't as bad as I think..." she thought to herself

Her mom could read the look on her face. Her mom knew it would be hard now. Void had an amazing relationship with her father and knowing the truth about her father hurt her.

"Hey... It'll be ok. Ok?"

Void smiled and nodded her head in response. She looked out the window wondering what her new room would look like. She couldn't wait to start unpacking and make new friends. They arrived soon enough at their house. The seller was waiting for them. Void and her mom got out the car. The seller greeted them with a smile.

"Welcome to your new house Miss Dixon." said the seller

"Thank you very much, Joe." her mom said

"Be careful in this house. It's haunted. A ghost may be lurking the halls. I've had a couple complaints from people who rented this house before ya, of their children seeing a boy in their room."

Void scoffed and rolled her eyes. "Stop lying Joe. You aren't scaring no one."

Her mom looked at her and frowned. "Be nice!"

"No no, it's ok ma'am. I'll be taking my leave now. Just be safe"

Joe walked away after messing up Void's short brown hair. Void walked inside after her mom unlocked the door. She explored around the house to see which room she liked. She saw something... The perfect room! It looked like a normal room put it had a little secret door in the closet. She opened the door and saw a little jar. She grabbed the jar and saw it was filled with pieces to a puzzle. "I'll solve that later" She said placing the jar back down before closing the door. She yelled out to her mom saying that she found the perfect room. Her mom came upstairs to where she was and nodded.

"Come help me unload the boxes from the van."

Void nodded and ran to the van. She grabbed a box, brought it inside and continued the process until the van was empty. She grabbed her boxes and went upstairs to he new room. Her bed was already built. "So that is what mom was doing while I unloaded the car." She said to herself. It was 9 pm already so she laid down on her bed and closed her eyes, slowly drifting off to sleep.

"Huh?" She woke up to a loud noise coming from her closet. She jumped off her bed and walked to the closet slowly. She open the closet. The door creaking as it showed a horrifying scene. A ghost. No a monster! The monster had large eyes, blood shot eyes and black fur. Void screamed as it lunged at her. She ran to the door and opened it. She ran down the hall as the monster chased her. "Mom! Mom!" She screamed crying. The monster jumped on her and spoke to her in a language she wasn't sure of. The monster raised it hand as it's sharp claws jerked out of it. The monster slashed at her throat. Void screamed as she jerked up from her sleep. She heard footsteps and a creak from her door as she panted and cried. Her mom rushed in.

"What happened?!" She said with care in her voice as she walked over to her daughters bed.

"There was a-a monster!" Void said still scared

"Honey... It was just a nightmare..." Her mother sighed as she sat down to hold her crying daughter. "It'll be ok"

That night Void slept next to her mom. It made her feel safe. 'Safe...' the thought echoed through her head as she finally drifted off to sleep once again.
