Chapter 1

"I'm really going to miss you, Rora " Aunt Jen said in between sobs, holding me so tight that I could barely breathe.

Aunt Jen has been the the one taking care of me since I lost my mom. She is a tall woman, with very dark hair, smooth melanin skin and a pair of grey eyes.

She has always taken it to be her responsibility to see that I am happy and comfortable and she never failed.

"I'm really going to miss you, too. More than you know " I replied trying to hold back tears, which made her tighten her grip. We stood there for a whole minute before she let go.

Looking at me and pulling a strand of my hair out of my face, she cupped my cheeks with both hands and let out a weak smile and a lengthy breathe before she spoke.

"I'm never going to get used to not having you around, you know. Someone to help me out, make me laugh and piss me at the same time. How do you do that?" She asked in between laughter.

"I don't know, I was just adding spice to your life." I answered, shrugging my shoulders and laughing. We fell into a really comfortable silence for a short time until she spoke.

"Make sure you call me when the you get to the London and take very good care of yourself for me". She said while hugging me again but this time in a more comfortable manner.

I will... I definitely will" I answered in a low tone while burying my face in her neck.

Truth be told, I'm definitely going to miss her, she has been my best friend for as long as I could remember, she took me in at 4, when I lost my parents and she had been nothing but excellent. She made sure I had the best of everything I needed, we never lived in luxury, but with the one she had, she gave me a place to call home.

Aunt Jen lost her husband a long time ago to cancer and she had been living alone since then until I came along. With her growing up was exciting. She owned a coffee shop not too far from home, where I always go with her except I'm in school or out with my friends. I worked at the coffee shop while in college. We had a lot of arguments about that, she wanted to place me on salary while I worked, which I refused, telling her I have other job which I can work and get money for college. We both later came to some sort of agreement later.

Saying Aunt Jen has been my rock through life would be an understatement but she was. She has been present for ever milestone through middle school, high school and college and here she still is seeing me off to my first Job as an accountant in a company in the Uk.

"You know, you have too get going if you don't want to miss your flight and if you really want to make it to that job" she said, breaking me out of my thought.

"Of course, I will get going now" I replied smiling.

I went back into my room to get a last look, that will keep me for a long time until when I'm back home which I can't really say when but someday. I'm really going to miss here, but I'm excited and nervous for the new life coming. I closed the door letting out a long silent breath I didn't realize I have been holding in for a while.

"Ready?" , she asked

"Ready" I replied

She help me with my bags to the to the taxi waiting outside. I gave her another hug, kissed her on the cheeks before getting into the car.

Then she mouthed to me "Be good" while the car engine comes on as we made our way to the airport.

"This is the beginning of a new life," I whispered to myself.here…
