Chapter 1: A place of ice

I name is Sarai suwan. I'm 18 years old and I am from Thailand. My life was a dream, for about a few months ago. My dad vanished at work, so my mom sent me away to this place of ice. Greenland. Now I transferred to a school called Sacred Heart Academy. I live on my own in this cold place, with no one to help me around. All my mom gives me is daily calls and some money. That's it. Kids bully me at school for being so lonely, but seriously

it's because of them I'm lonely.

If they would shut up about mean things and say something nice to me

I

don't think I would be lonely. I would have a friend, but clearly

no one wants to be the lonely new girl friend.

So my drama began when noticed a new face in the school cafeteria sitting by himself. I thought I found a way to end my to my loneliness, a way to get a friend. I softly ask him if I could sit with him and surprisingly he said yes. He said him name was Boone Parker but everyone called him bambam since he always draw bamboos in his notebook. Bambam had long black hair that went to his face and annoyed him. He was very tall, for his age at least.

"what's you name?" he asked me with a warm smile.

" Sarai, sarah."

Plain stupid me.

"I'm turning 18 two months later, how about you?" he asked me.

"oh, I just turned 18 last week. Are you new too?" I asked him stupidly.

"new? Nah, i've come here for the past five years."

"what?! No way, i've come here for a month and I never saw you before."

He chuckled softly.

"What's so funny. " I said snapping my fingers in front of him beady black eyes.

"I've been on vacation with my dad for 2 months now. I came back late last night."

This made me miss my dad even more now. I plastered a the fakest smile that couldn't hide sadness to save my life. Obviously he immediately knew something was wrong.

"hey sarah did I say something wrong?" he asked worriedly.

"No, no of course not. It's just-"

I couldn't go on.

I burst in to silent tears.

Boy, was I ever so glad I didn't leave my cap in my locker.

"M-my father went missing a few months ago and my mom sent me here frome Thailand on my own. I'm sorry I dropped all this on you shoulder." I finally explained.

Me and Bambam agreed to meet at a basketball court near my place to get to know each other better. It turns out the empty locker next to mine is Bambam's locker.

It was an hour or two when we finally got there.

"so Bambam, where do you live? Maybe I could come over sometime."

"Oh that house over there"

My eyes widened as I stared at the house he was pointing at.

"Bam, I don't care what you say, you cannot possibly live there, some kids at school told me about it. They said ghosts, monsters, mutant ninja turtles or something like that lives in there. And I heard the grunting myself" I scolded him fiercely.

"Ugh, I can't believe you believe that stupid ghost story. My mom is sick, that's the grunting, and you know Gunner Finn, the guy bullying you? He made up the rumor to make fun of my mom. But seriously, mutant ninja turtles " he explained to me in an oddly kind voice. I mean scary kind.

We went home after half an hour of chatting and chatted on our way home. We gave each other our numbers. I was happy. Happy for the first time since I came here

The next day Bambam didn't come to school. The day afterwards I interrogated him about him absence.

"oh come on bam, something happened. You love school, you won't miss it for the world."

"sarah I told you, I had to help my mom."

"Boone Parker look at me dead in the eyes."

Then I realized.

"bam, did your mom get worse? " I asked softly.

"As worse as it gets"

"It's okay, the pain never goes away but you can always learn how to live with it" I assured him.

That night I had trouble sleeping. I kept waking up to a dream of me turning to stone near my eye every time I talk to Bambam.

So I got into trouble at school for sleeping in class. But, that wasn't what made me worried.

Bambam was missing again.

After a long time of thinking I finally decided to go to Bambams house to see if he's OK.

As I entered the lawn a teenage girl a few years younger than me ran to me and said "hey, dunno or care who you are, you should not be going in there, it's haunted."

I completely ignored her and knocked on the door.

No answer.

I knocked again.

Still no answer.

Then I finally opened the door.

"Bambam, you here?"

I saw a figure in a black hoodie completely covering his face with his hands, a cap and sun glasses.

"bam, is that you?"

"yes" he answer in a quevering voice.

I looked at him with brave yet terrified eyes then raised my hands to uncover his face.

When I saw him I opened my mouth to scream.

Just like the stone in my dreams, near Bambam eye he was turning in to ice

. The cold ice in a color of the purest blue was slowly taking over his body. There were books and news papers on people turning into ice scattered around the room.

"bam, why did you not tell me that you were turning in to ice." I asked half-angrily half-upset.

"I didn't want to scare you."

"wh-why is this happening to you? What is causing it?"

I was drowning him with questions.

"there are many reonsons for it. For an example listen to this."

He picked up a book and read.

"ice of skin is an ice of death. William agnello in 1724 remains the first to ever survive such a curse. According to legend agnello state" To survive such a curse it takes 4 dead grass hoppers, tears of ice, blood of a loved one and water from the Nile. Make green tea in the Nile water and boil all ingredients in order of grasshopper then tears then blood" it has never been confirmed what these ancient words mean. But it is known a reoson of such ice, upset shock of a lonely child, a child whose lost. A man or woman dies with the happiness of a child. "

I was more confused than bam was.

"tears of ice? Happiness of a child? What does that mean?" I asked.

"I think it might mean naturally melted ice"

I sat down next to Bambam and looked at the book.

"let's go find this stuff but first, let's look at these books for a while before we go." I suggested.

"k"

And we were looking for more information. I saw something but secretly cut off the page.

"sarah, I can't find anything on a cure it seems like it's impossible. "Let's try to find these ingredients." Bambam finally said.

"Bam, where in all of North America are we going to find water from the Nile?" I asked.

"that's the one thing we already have." he replied.

Holding a big bucket of water he said "mommy wiked da wiver thingy" and made laugh my head of.
