Prologue Rue

The kingdom of Erdia is one of the largest empires in the world. The people are well off with little to no starving people. One could call this kingdom blessed by god with its lack of problems under the rule of the current king.

While one kingdom could to be troubled with a revolt in its castle, another could be fighting a opium addiction spreading rapidly. The kingdom of Erdia has had no such problems until now. The king has started to show signs of sickness and the people now look towards the princess for guidance on what to do.

12 hours from escaping:

Over the past few months father's disease has slowly started to take hold of him; so much so that uncle Adir has restricted me from seeing him the past few weeks. Not that I really cared, my father and I didn't really have much of a father-daughter relationship we got along better as work associates than actual family. Besides preparing to take over the throne has made me even more busy then usual.

Uncle Adir has made my lessons stricter and harder. Probably to help take my mind off of father's condition, not that I needed it. But the lessons gave me something to do in this monotone castle where nothing changes. Bored, I looked out through my window, from my seat I saw the training grounds. I watched the soldiers do practice drills wishing so desperately to be out there too. To feel the air on my skin while I imagine fighting someone two times my size. It was my only amusement in this dull excuse of a castle.

Beside me releasing me from my thoughts was shuffling of footsteps and then my door opening.

"How can I help you princess?" I turned

to see a small brunette girl with two braided pigtails in a maid outfit. Her eyes were bright with youth a nice royal blue color was displayed in her irises, hiding no ulterior motives besides looking out for my basic needs . I remembered I had ringed my bell which told the maid on duty their assistance was needed.

As you probably already figured out I was a princess. The princess of the kingdom of Erdia to be exact. I was an only child since my mother died giving birth to me and my father never remarried. So by default I was considered the future ruler of this country not that I wanted any part of that. My interest laid more towards exploring the world and discovering new things rather then looking out for a nation worth of people. My red hair was long and wavy it looked kinda like red waves in the ocean at sunset but I couldn't really tell you want red waves looked like truthfully I've never seen the ocean let alone stepped foot outside of the castle. My hair went past my back to just above my hips. My face had grown out of its baby face and had a more angular shape to it which made me look more mature but still young. God blessed me with a perfect figure which I religiously kept in shape whit deep violet eyes to complete the picture though only myself and one other person can see the true color everyone else could only see a forest green color from what I'm told. The reason for that you may wonder is because the royal family has a special condition where only our soulmate could see what color our eyes actually are. Because of this special ability you could say it became a requirement for the throne only a soul-mated couple could take over the throne which left me in quite a bind I wanted to find my soulmate truly I did but at the same time I didn't want to rule this country so I've always tried my best to avoid people which seemed to have solved my initial turmoil. Which is why the nation has started to look at my uncle to take over the throne he did marry his soulmate though she was now deceased in the eyes of the people he was a better option then a princess that lived in seclusion.

Not that I minded about the rising favor the people showed in my uncle becoming the new king. I believed he would make a great ruler for country probably far better then I at least. I'd rather travel the world and see what it had to offer then sit in an office all day with a pen as my body slowly rotted away anyway. The imagine of me and my future soulmate traveling around the world getting into trouble no matter where we were sent sparks through my body and a smile on my face. When each new royal member is born we always feel as if half of ourselves is gone and we live with this feeling until we turn 18 when that feeling is gone for a year and after that year that emptiness comes back until we finally find our other half. The thought of it finally being my turn to experience this feeling of being whole made my smile even wider since tomorrow is my 18th birthday. Usually we'd have a grand party that lasted all night with all sorts of people coming just to line up for an attempt of guessing my true eye color. You may be thinking well couldn't someone just lie and by chance say the right color? Wrong I guess you could say there's a certain magic in place that prevents such things from happening but with the condition of my father in mind we decided against it. So instead the plan is that at 12 o'clock tonight I will finally leave this castle and travel around the world and find the person instead. Because of my secluded nature no one in the entire kingdom except the people in the castle know what I look liked so it made traveling around the world easier since no one would know who I was. I turned back to the maid at my door after thinking about this and asked her for some tea to be brought up to my room I needed to calm my nerves for tonight the excitement was getting to me. But in the back of my mind I still I couldn't wait until tonight.

It was now 11:50 now I was headed to the meeting hall to greet my uncle before my departure. I had decided to cut my hair short to make it easier to maneuver in battle and so that it would be harder to tell my gender in case the situation needed it. It wasn't any surprised that my uncle felt more like a father to me than my own father. Between going on expeditions and coming home to see his wife he spent most of his time with me training me in all kinds of combat apparently I had a knack for it and I excelled extremely well. My uncle was a tall well-built man he looked like an exact picture of what a war general would look like his beard and mustache were so well-kept that sometimes they look like triangles on his face he had dark brown eyes that almost looked black he always had a stern look on his face. I don't think I ever once saw his real emotions especially after his wife died his eyes hardened even more then I thought could be physically possible in a human being and he started to close off more and spent less time with me and everyone else for that matter. I wasn't mad about it I understood why he did it I could tell he truly did care for her despite he's lack of showing it. I figured he needed some time to himself to grieve for her in his own way. they were soulmates after all so it was understandable he acted this way. As I finished thinking this train of thought. I pushed the wide doors open to the meeting hall. What I saw in the room shocked me to the core. The room was filled to the brim with soldiers facing the door I had just opened there stood my uncle with a sword in his hand the same sword that taught me to how to defend myself all those years ago pointed at me . I look around I could feel bloodlust through the entire room and with a loud booming voice that broke me out of my thoughts I heard.

"By the degree of the new king I Adir sentence my niece Princess Rue to death for the death of her father the previous king!", I looked into the eyes of my uncle there were cold merciless I could tell he meant what he said. My instincts told me to run and I listened. I pivoted on my feet so fast it left like electricity going through my feet and I ran through the hallways as fast I could. Turning down many hallways I had mesmerized the layout of the entire castle in case I needed to escape from this place. I knew of a secret passage that not even my uncle knew of. As I ran down hallways leading me to it I could hear the footsteps of the soldiers behind me luckily I'm the fastest runner in this place so they were slowly falling behind. After a few more hallways I turned into an room with nothing but a bed and a bookshelf. I quickly ran to the bookshelf and pulled a book to triggered the shelf to move out of the way that had the secret passage behind it. I could hear the footsteps getting closer as soon as the shelf moved enough to fit a person I ran through it eventually leading to the forest where I ran even faster despite the burning in my legs and my ice filled lungs.
