My Heart for a Dragon

The Palace, Zariya 18 years earlier

The moon was high as the black cloaked man entered through the palace gates his face concealed by a large black hood, shadowing his muscled features. The pale light coming from the throne room was the only light that helped the man through the gates and to the the large ornate doors.. Raising a large fist, the man banged on the door, he called out for assistance. The woman who answered was a beautiful maiden with long flowing hair and a elaborate tiara placed delicately on her head.

"Cyfrin you're finally here!" She shouted as she ran to embrace the cloaked man.

"Yes Astra I am here," He spoke calmly but his crossed arms revealed everything, "But I can not stay long. I came here to bring you this."

"What is it Cyfrin?" From behind his back, he held a bundle of blankets, "Cyfrin? What is this?"

"This dear Astra is the child of destiny, born to rule among the dragons."

"What am I meant to do with her? I am the queen, I have no time to raise a child. I mean what would the government think if I just went to them saying I had a child, they would think I had froud the whole Queendom, bearing a child with someone other than you..." The king paused her words,

"Just keep her safe." He spoke softly. "Goodbye my love." He said as he planted a small kiss on her cheek.

"But Cyfin! We still have things to discuss!"

"Shh, just tell her you are her mother and I her father..."

"But..."

The King vanished leaving only the blankets she was brought in.

The baby looked up into Astra's eyes, her multi-colour eyes shined in the darkness. "I shall call you Opal..." Astra said softly.
