Have you ever been in the wrong place at the wrong time? No! Well I have have and it’s where my story begins. Hi my name is M’Kynzee Green I’m 18 years old I live in New York with my mother and brother Alek. It’s been us three since I was 6 and my brother was 8. Our dad walked out on us and we haven’t seen him since. Things haven’t always been easy, but our mother has been a rock. She has done everything she can for us. I just graduated from high school about two months ago I was going to go to NYC but I needed to save up money for tuition. Which is why I got a job as a waitress at a night club. It’s not the best place but the money is really good I’m sure my boss does shady gigs with shady people, but we haven’t met the owner I hear he’s really mean and likes things done a certain way I’m glad I haven’t met him in the two moths I’ve been here that he hasn’t came in, but tonight that’s all about to change.
“Hey Mick!” I said
“Hey Kyn”
“How’s your night been going Mick”
“So far so good, but the big boss is here. So be ready” he said
What does he mean be ready. I was lost in my train of though while I was walking to the back to clock in I ran into a very hard surface.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean t….” As I was looking up my sentence cut short I didn’t even get to finish before seeing the brightest green eyes look back at me.
“Watch it” green eyes said
then he looked down at me. Fear struck my body as he was watching me I couldn’t move or look away I was stuck.
“Who are you, and are you old enough to be working here” green eyes asked me
“My name is M’Kynzee and yes I’m 18” I said with a slight attitude
Everyone assumes I’m younger than I am I’m always being mistaken for a 15 year old because I was blessed with amazing skin and on the shorter side.
He gave me a slight smirk and a look like he was impressed. And instead of me knowing my manners I came back with
“And who are you?” I should have kept my mouth shut cause everyone around gasped
“ I like you, M’Kynzee so confident” green eyes says “but to answer your question I’m Andrew… your boss”
My mouth just fell open there was no words that would or could form I mentally smacked my self.
I should really learn to keep my mouth shut!!
Finally after a few minutes with fighting with words to say all that came out was “OH” and I looked down nothing else came out.
Andrew just looked me up and down and said “don’t lose that confidence now little one”
“Sorry, I..I didn’t know”
“Well don’t let it happen again” he said with a not so nice expression
I turned to walk away to finish clocking in as soon as I was done my shift started like no other I started serving drinks.
About an hour later Jeff the bar manager came up to me.
“Hey Kynz, the big boss wants you in V.I.P”
“What, Why me why can’t one of the other girls do it I already made a fool outta my self.”
“Well he requested you. I don’t make the rules just I force them”
“Ok, Jeff I’ll go but let’s hope it’s not to fire me.”
I started walking up there as soon as I got to the rope all I heard was “boss”
“Let her in”
I took a quick glance at everyone and everything it was dimly lit everyone was sitting except the three guy who looked like they where on guard for anything . I also took notice of everyone wearing suits I have never seen so many men in suits. I walked up to the only one I knew Andrew.
“Sir, what can I get you?”
“Oh look who found her manners”
I just looked down to my feet I didn’t know what else to say
“ just get us the best bourbon we have in this place, and don’t stop, until I say it’s enough”
I just looked at him at first I couldn’t tell he was serious until he shooed me away with a flick of the wrist.
“Hey Mick, I need bottles of the best bourbon we have and I don’t know how many I will need.”
Mick just looked at me and then it was like a light went off in his head
“Oh your serving the boss aren’t you?”
“Yes, how did you guess” I said sarcastically
“ well you will need about six bottles” he said as he starting pouring shots and handing me the rest of the bottle
“Um why do you say six bottles”
“ this isn’t my first time serving the boss believe it’s better to know than not”
“Well thanks Mick, I really glad you know.”
“No problem, Kyns”
As I turn to walk away he calls
“Don’t let the glasses get empty the tip is worth the work”
I just looked back and smiled. If he’s right then maybe I’ll be able to have enough saved for college after that thought I couldn’t stop smiling…
