Stunning
“Dr. Mitchell, you have a patient waiting for you,” a nurse said while walking by my office.
‘Finally,’ I get up from my swivel chair and quickly go to see my assumingly new patient. It’s been the first one I’ve had in days. I get in the room and start with the usual.
“Hello, I’m Dr. Mitchell, what seems to be the proble-,” I stop as soon as I set my eyes on his face, I almost fell over.
The man sitting on the exam table has got to be the most beautiful person I’ve ever seen. Small build, is on the shorter side, has dirty blond hair with an undercut. His bangs just barely go over his giant, impossibly bright, vibrant green eyes that just suck you in and never let go. Along with the fact that he won’t stop fiddling with his lip ring, is extremely distracting. I had to sit down in the chair to keep from falling to the floor.
“Doctor, p-please help m-me, my mind w-won’t shut up...” he pleads.
“Okay, what does it keep telling you,” I say, while struggling to keep from jumping his bones.
“To just end it and kill myself,” he looks down at his feet, fidgeting.
“Is it okay if I take you on as one of my regular patients?” He nods, “I’m going to need some of your personal information, what’s your name?”
“Chase Anderson.”
“How old are you?”
“Twenty-two.”
“Where do you live?”
“Apartment 3B, in building J6, down the street. I just moved in this morning.”
“Interesting, I live right across the hall from you...” I mumbled, “Where did you move here from, and did you have a doctor there?”
“I moved here from New Jersey and yes I did, he told me to come to you because he thought your mutation could help me.”
“Can I have his information to gain access to your medical history?”
“S-sure,” he agrees and hands me the contact information.
I scoot my chair closer to him, “Chase, I’m just gonna take a look at your mind,” I say, reaching to hold his head.
When I make contact, I close my eyes and transport my consciousness into his mind. What I came to find was unlike anything I’d ever experienced before. Sure, I’ve dealt with bad cases of depression before, but this was much different. It was almost as if the depression itself was a living creature. His mind room was covered with thick inky tar, all over the walls, and was dripping from the ceiling and covered the floor, it was up to my ankles. I almost got stuck in it when I heard the voice Chase had mentioned before. It started off quiet, I almost missed it, but it started to get louder and louder, my body started to shake from the sound. And I jolted away from Chase, escaping what I would call, mind hell. He looked at me with a worried look on his face. I was sweating and shaking in my chair.
